Yan Kuo had been hiding at home for two days. When Monday came, he firmly refused to go to school. Eventually, his father picked up the punishment ruler and threatened to escort him in person to Yinchuan High. That was the only way Yan Kuo was persuaded to reluctantly agree. Even so, he delayed until after the school bell had rung.

The moment he stepped into the classroom, every pair of eyes turned toward him. Yan Kuo’s face immediately flushed into a blotchy mix of red and purple.

He kept his head down, silent, and carried his bag back to his seat.

As soon as he sat down, his deskmate shifted away, clearly unwilling to have even the slightest contact with him.

Yan Kuo, already simmering with anger, exploded. He slammed his bag onto the desk, eyes bloodshot with rage, and shouted, “Damn it! I’m not a pervert!”

The entire class flinched in shock and quickly turned away, not daring to meet his gaze again. His deskmate turned pale, sat up straight, and buried his face in his book.

Yan Kuo swept a cold, venomous glare across the room, then pounded his desk with a loud thud. “Damn it!”

The classroom fell into utter silence. No one dared even to breathe loudly.

Fortunately, the homeroom teacher arrived shortly after. She instructed everyone to pack up and head to their assigned classrooms for the upcoming assessment, following the previously posted list.

The students moved quickly and exited the classroom in a rush.

Soon, Yan Kuo was the only one left in the room.

The homeroom teacher was a kind and gentle woman, recently graduated from college, and she had a naturally pleasant temperament that made her well-liked among students. She had always looked after Yan Kuo with particular care. Seeing him pack up with a stiff expression and prepare to head to the next classroom, she softly reminded him, “Yan Kuo, truly exceptional people do not concern themselves with gossip. Do your best on the exam, okay? Good luck.”

Yan Kuo did not respond. He simply left with a grim expression.

At that moment, a sudden chime echoed in his mind. It was the mission notification sound.

[Ding~ You have a new mission update.]

[Current Mission: 1. Achieve second place in the grade on the placement test. 2. Solve the final math problem and be the only student in school to receive full marks, thereby attracting the female lead’s attention. Each completed task will earn 1 Luck Point.]

[Friendly Tip: The steps to solve the final math problem are…]

[Attention: Your Luck Points have been below zero for over a week. Your status as the male lead is unstable. This mission prompt will self-destruct in ten seconds. Please ensure it is saved.]

Self-destruct?

It would actually self-destruct?

No wonder last time, even though he had heard a hint about the solution, he found nothing when he tried to revisit it. So he had to save it manually?

Yan Kuo carefully studied the solution. With his strong natural aptitude and excellent memory, he easily committed the steps to memory.

This time, he would absolutely complete the task.

Yan Kuo clenched his fists with determination.

At Yinchuan High, exam seats were always arranged according to class order. Each exam room contained thirty students, organized by school rankings from top to bottom. Yan Kuo had ranked second in the entire school on the high school entrance exam, so he was assigned to the second desk in Class One.

Since his class was located close to Class One, he assumed that only Li Yue, who ranked first, would be seated by the time he arrived. To his surprise, just as he stepped into the room, he bumped right into Jiang Yun.

“Jiang Yun!”

Seeing her in the ink-blue school uniform, which accentuated her tall and slender figure, immediately reignited the fury simmering inside Yan Kuo.

He stretched out an arm to block her path.

“You dare show your face in front of me!” Yan Kuo growled through clenched teeth.

Jiang Yun arched an eyebrow. “This is my classroom. How exactly am I the one appearing in front of you?”

Yan Kuo glared at her flawless face. Despite how much he had once admired her beauty, now he felt nothing but rage and the urge to throttle her.

If she had not posted that message online, none of this would have happened. He would not have been so thoroughly humiliated.

His clenched fist tightened until his knuckles cracked.

Jiang Yun looked at him coolly. She thought he might lash out to establish some twisted sense of superiority. But to her surprise, Yan Kuo suddenly loosened his fist. He looked at her and let out a mocking smirk.

“Forget it. Why should I stoop to your level? No matter how many little tricks you play, you will never win my heart.” Yan Kuo’s smile was dripping with condescension.

In his eyes, Jiang Yun was nothing more than a foolish supporting character who only knew how to stir up petty drama.

The forum post? Clearly, it was just a pitiful ploy for his attention.

If he responded, then he would lose.

He had only one goal in mind, and that was to win the attention of Zhan Rao, the female lead.

As for this supporting character, she could step aside. He would not spare her a second glance.

Jiang Yun watched him walk away, head held high as if he were some sort of tragic hero. She blinked in disbelief.

Was there something wrong with him?

Still, being constantly misunderstood by a fool who believed she liked him was infuriating.

Even someone as patient as Jiang Yun had reached her limit. She could no longer stand the strange, smug looks he kept sending her way.

There is an old saying, if a dog bites you, you do not need to bite it back.

But if a dog keeps acting up, sometimes you need your fists to remind it how to behave.

Jiang Yun raised her hand, ready to grab Yan Kuo’s collar and teach him a lesson. Just then, a familiar voice called out from behind.

“Jiang Yun! What a coincidence! You haven’t gone to your exam room yet?” Zhan Rao’s cheerful voice rang out.

Class 18 and Class 1 were in different buildings. Zhan Rao had climbed the stairs and walked a long hallway, all on the off chance that she might run into Jiang Yun. To her delight, she actually did.

Jiang Yun turned and smiled. “Ah, what a coincidence. I was just about to go.”

“Well then, do your best on the exam, okay? I believe in you. You’re definitely going to do well this time!” Zhan Rao beamed and made a fist in encouragement.

Jiang Yun laughed. No one had ever told her that she could do well on an exam.

Everyone, including her own family, had concluded that she had no academic talent after she repeatedly brought home zero scores.

“Alright. I’ll take it seriously. I can’t let Teacher Zhan down.”

“Good! And if you do poorly, I’ll just assign you extra homework this week,” Zhan Rao said playfully.

Jiang Yun shook her head and laughed. She looked helplessly fond of her.

Meanwhile, Yan Kuo stood silently nearby like part of the scenery, watching the interaction between the female lead and the supporting girl. They looked more like a couple than rivals. His mind was flooded with confusion.

Since when had Jiang Yun and Zhan Rao become so close?

The plot was straying further and further off course.

He remembered seeing Jiang Yun with Zhan Rao at the library over the weekend, too.

“You and Jiang Yun are close?” he blurted. Weren’t they supposed to be bitter enemies? He clearly remembered that Jiang Yun, as the villainous supporting girl, had always been scheming against Zhan Rao in the script. Why was she acting like a completely different person now?

Was she just pretending to be friendly while secretly plotting something?

Zhan Rao turned and saw Yan Kuo. Her smile vanished instantly. She took a step back and walked around him without a word.

“Yan Kuo, so you’re back from the police station.”

The wariness in her posture was identical to when she had screamed “pervert” at him in the library.

Yan Kuo sighed. “Zhan Rao, I’m not a pervert. What happened that day was because of special circumstances. I’m not that kind of person. Can you please believe me?” He explained patiently, hoping to clear up any misunderstanding.

Zhan Rao pressed her lips together and said nothing.

Her bright eyes, however, were filled with distrust.

“I mean, even if you have some unusual interests, it’s not a big deal as long as no one gets hurt. I was the one who overreacted that day…”

Yan Kuo groaned inwardly.

Why did her explanation make things sound even worse?

Fine. It was not worth the trouble.

“Let’s just not talk about that anymore. The point is, I’m not a pervert.” He hesitated, then added, “Also, you should stay away from Jiang Yun. She has bad intentions toward you. Now that she’s suddenly acting close, she might be planning something. I’m telling you this for your own good.”

The moment Zhan Rao heard him slander Jiang Yun, her expression darkened. Whatever politeness she had left disappeared.

“Yan Kuo, I think you should focus on managing yourself. Whatever is going on between me and Jiang Yun is none of your concern. You don’t know her, so stop judging her.”

To think that Jiang Yun once had such strong feelings for Yan Kuo. Yet now, in his eyes, she was just some scheming villain.

Yan Kuo truly was despicable.

Thankfully, Jiang Yun had come to her senses and no longer liked him.

Yan Kuo’s expression twisted after being scolded. He watched Zhan Rao silently walk to the first desk in the first row and sit down. He felt completely speechless.

Sure, she looked good but she was not very smart.

Meanwhile, Li Yue had been sitting quietly in the corner the entire time. She kept her head down and continued reading her book. Whatever she was thinking remained a mystery.

Jiang Yun had been walking around the school for quite some time and still could not find her exam room. She took out her phone and looked at the photo she had taken earlier. Where exactly was the “Zhiwei Building” supposed to be?

Did their school even have such a building? She had absolutely no memory of it.

After wandering around campus, she finally stopped outside the cafeteria. She looked up at the building and read the three characters at the top, which spelled out Zhiwei Building. Her mouth twitched in disbelief.

So the underachievers were sent to take their exams at the cafeteria tables?

No wonder her former self had always refused to take exams and used to sneak out instead.

Those greasy cafeteria tables really were impossible to sit at.
