After bringing the nearly-terrified-to-tears Zhan Rao back to the self-study area, Jiang Yun ordered her a steaming cup of coffee to calm her down.

Zhan Rao only managed to regain her composure after drinking the entire cup.

Actually, saying she finally calmed down wasn’t exactly right. She had been calm the entire time.

The moment she saw Yan Kuo biting into a book, she had wanted to rush over and beat him up. She wanted to press his disgusting face to the ground and scrub it with her foot. But she couldn’t act out in public, so she kept up the performance until now.

Watching Jiang Yun tapping away nonstop on her phone, she said, “Thanks, Jiang Yun. I’m okay now~”

Jiang Yun looked up at her. Only when she saw that Zhan Rao’s pale face had regained its color did she relax. “You’re really okay now?”

Zhan Rao nodded. “Yes. I was just a little startled. Who would have thought Classmate Yan Kuo was that kind of person…” She glanced cautiously at Jiang Yun. She still remembered that Jiang Yun had once liked Yan Kuo.

After what happened today, would Jiang Yun be upset too?

Zhan Rao truly didn’t want Jiang Yun to be hurt because of Yan Kuo. At the same time, she found that the more Yan Kuo’s image fell apart, the more satisfying it felt.

Maybe that was a little wicked of her.

“Jiang Yun, what are you doing?” It seemed Jiang Yun had been on her phone ever since sitting down.

Jiang Yun lifted her phone and smiled. “I’m just fulfilling a promise I made to Classmate Yan Kuo.”

She was someone who always kept her word.

After all, she had known Yan Kuo for many years. They had grown up together as childhood friends. Once, he had even been her dream guy, her prince on a white horse. It was not a choice she made freely, but something she had been pressured into feeling. Still, that role had meant something to her. How could she bear to see her prince locked away in a police station, completely ignored?

She couldn’t let that happen. She had to make sure Yan Kuo made a spectacular debut at the police station.

It had to be a dramatic entrance that no one would forget.

It couldn’t be a small, quiet affair. That simply would not do.

Informing just his family wasn’t enough. More people needed to know. Everyone should care about what happened to him.

Two minutes later, a pinned post in red font appeared on the Yinchuan High School forum.

#Classmate Yan Kuo was taken away by the police! What should I do? Waiting online, it’s urgent!#
Posted by: Jiang Yun

Jiang Yun was already a well-known forum user. Her posts always attracted attention. The name “Yan Kuo” alone was enough to create a stir. The title of the post about him being taken to the police station? That was a guaranteed explosion.

Yinchuan High School erupted with activity.

Everyone clicked the post and saw Jiang Yun pouring out her emotions:

[I ran into Classmate Yan Kuo at the library, but he was mistaken for a pervert and taken to the police station. What should I do? Waiting online, it’s urgent! Waaaah… I was scared to death!]

Attached was a photo of Yan Kuo wearing a black baseball jacket. Underneath, he had on a painfully bright purple mesh shirt. On his chest were two unmentionable pink spots, and around his neck was a purple bow.

His outfit looked downright disturbing.

The post quickly went viral.

First comment: What on earth is going on?! What kind of outfit is that? That’s just too much.

Second comment: Am I hallucinating? Our campus heartthrob Yan Kuo actually has this kind of fashion sense?

Jiang Yun replied: Yes, I just found out too. I’m freaking out. All these years, and I never realized he liked this kind of thing. If I had known, I would’ve bought him clothes like this instead of expensive jerseys.

Third comment: Jiang Yun, sounds like you really did give the wrong gifts. But honestly, who could’ve seen this coming? laugh-cry emoji

Fourth comment: So how did he end up at the police station?

Jiang Yun replied: Apparently, he harassed a girl who was reading in the library, and a passerby turned him in. Waaaah… My poor Yan Kuo, why would you do something like this?

Fifth comment: I don’t even know what to say. Fans of Yan Kuo, my condolences.

Sixth comment: My idol just crumbled.

Seventh comment: Same here…

Soon, the thread Jiang Yun posted had over five thousand replies.

Half of Yinchuan High School’s students had joined the discussion.

Eventually, someone pushed back.

5231st comment: I don’t believe this. Jiang Yun, you Photoshopped that picture, didn’t you? Yan Kuo would never do something like this. You’re just bitter that you can’t have him, so you’re trying to get his attention. A filthy woman like you will never win his heart!

Jiang Yun rested her chin on one hand, held her phone in the other, and smiled faintly at the comment. Her expression was impossible to read.

Zhan Rao, sitting beside her, saw the comment too.

She looked up at Jiang Yun, a feeling of discomfort rising in her chest.

This post had caused such a stir. Jiang Yun hadn’t made it out of panic. It was retaliation, wasn’t it? Was she trying to get back at Yan Kuo for not liking her? Or was this a strange way to get his attention?

Zhan Rao didn’t like this side of Jiang Yun.

She didn’t like the version of Jiang Yun who couldn’t let go of a jerk like Yan Kuo.

“Jiang Yun, can you take the post down?” Zhan Rao took a deep breath before asking.

Jiang Yun looked at her with confusion.

Zhan Rao pressed her lips together. She knew she had no right to ask, but she couldn’t stand watching the bright and dazzling Jiang Yun lower herself for a man. “You still can’t let go of Yan Kuo, right? You posted this to get back at him, to get his attention, didn’t you?”

Jiang Yun raised an eyebrow and smiled.

Her smile made Zhan Rao uneasy. It wasn’t innocent. It felt mischievous, as if Zhan Rao had just made a fool of herself.

“I… I know I don’t have the right to ask this, but I really hope you can let go of your obsession with Yan Kuo.”

She didn’t even want to say the word “like.” Yan Kuo didn’t deserve it.

Jiang Yun chuckled softly, set her phone on the table, crossed her arms, and leaned back in her chair. “You think I did this because I still have feelings for him? That I’m taking revenge out of love?”

Zhan Rao looked down, picking at her workbook page with her fingers until she almost tore it.

She said nothing, but she didn’t deny it either.

Jiang Yun laughed out loud. “Relax. I don’t like him. This isn’t revenge born of heartbreak. I did this for you.”

Zhan Rao stared at her in shock. “What? For… me?”

Jiang Yun answered casually, “And for the past version of myself who had no choice.”

Zhan Rao was completely confused.

Jiang Yun knew she didn’t understand, and she didn’t plan to explain.

Yes, this was revenge. But it wasn’t because she loved and lost. It was because she needed to vent the frustration she had carried for so long.

Because this repulsive boy, simply because he had the halo of a male lead, had forced her to like him. But why should she? To her, Yan Kuo was nothing.

He was just a selfish coward who only cared about completing his tasks to earn rewards. He never considered whether the victim agreed or what they felt.

Exposing him publicly was being too kind.

She had already vowed never to be the same Jiang Yun, the one pushed around by the plot and controlled without her consent. From now on, if Yan Kuo dared to touch her interests again, she would make him regret it.

She didn’t mind using dirty methods. What mattered was making sure that she and the people she cared about weren’t bullied without the ability to fight back.

She looked down to respond to that comment, but someone had already replied.

@5231L: I was there and saw the whole thing. Yan Kuo really did get taken away, and yes, he really was wearing that outfit. So Jiang Yun didn’t lie~

Jiang Yun blinked and looked up at Zhan Rao.

Zhan Rao held up her phone, showing the screen. It was the reply she had just posted.

She smiled sheepishly. “Sorry. I shouldn’t have said those things to you. I was just worried you couldn’t let go of Yan Kuo and would end up hurting yourself. But honestly, exposing that creep felt pretty great…”

And Jiang Yun had said half the reason she posted it was to help Zhan Rao get revenge.

She had done it for her…

Yan Kuo had just been released from the police station. He walked out with his head hung low in shame.

He had zipped his black denim jacket all the way up to his neck, trying to hide the embarrassing clothes underneath.

His father stood beside him, so angry his face was twitching.

“How did I, Yan Juntian, raise such a disgrace? You have a perfectly good young lady from the Jiang family, but instead, you’re out here doing nonsense like this!”

Yan Kuo pouted. “Jiang Yun is going to be eliminated by the female lead eventually. Getting close to her is pointless. Besides, she’s just a villainess. She doesn’t deserve someone like me, the male lead with the halo.”

Yan Juntian punched his foolish son squarely on the head.

“Stop watching those ridiculous dramas and novels! Villainess? Male lead? You? A male lead? Look at yourself! I have never been so humiliated in my life!”

“Okay, okay! Stop hitting him!” Yan Kuo’s mother rushed over and stepped in front of her son to shield him. “He’s our only child! What if you hurt him?”

Yan Juntian growled, “He turned out this way because you spoiled him rotten!”

His wife glared at him, then turned back to comfort their son, speaking gently, “Sweetheart~ Daddy only hit you because he cares. Mommy understands. There’s a lot of weird stuff online these days. It’s normal to feel uncertain about your preferences at your age. We won’t tell you who to date, but some unusual… interests… really aren’t safe, okay? They hurt your heart and your body…”

Yan Kuo was stunned.

What was she even saying? None of this sounded right.

“Mom! What are you even thinking?! That’s not what this is!” he shouted, yanking the bow off his neck and throwing it in the trash.

He grabbed his mom’s phone and climbed into the car alone to calm down. But as soon as he opened the school forum, he nearly blacked out.

#Yinchuan High’s campus heartthrob Yan Kuo has special interests?#

The main photo was the one Jiang Yun had posted.

Yan Kuo stared at it.

It was over.
