【 March 15, Clear Skies.

My dad is insane.

Today is my sixth birthday, and Dad asked me again if I wanted to find a wife. He said that once I found one, I could move out and live on my own. Ever since I can remember, he has asked me this question every single day.

I’m only six years old!

I’m still at the age where I drink AB Calcium supplements. How could I possibly find a wife?

Mom said that men need ambition for girls to like them, so right now, my focus should be on the great cause of running for class president, not on finding a wife as Dad suggested!

Mom also said that Dad actually loves me. Even before I was born, he had bought a house for me in full and even had it fully furnished. Unlike other kids, I wouldn’t have to worry about mortgage payments when I grow up.

I think Mom makes a lot of sense, so I returned the candy I had hidden from Dad. 】

【 March 20, Overcast.

My dad is insane.

When I got home from school today, Dad asked if I wanted to play a game of marbles, where the loser would have to give the winner one yuan. I said I didn’t want to play. Then Dad said he’d tell my classmates that I wet the bed yesterday, so I changed my mind and said I wanted to play.

I won the first round. Dad said it was best two out of three.

I won two rounds. Dad said it was best three out of five.

I won three rounds. Then Dad suddenly ran to Mom and tattled, saying I hadn’t even finished my homework yet and was already gambling for money!

But he was the one who forced me to play!

That old man had the nerve to say he was just testing me. How was I supposed to know I’d fall for it?

Fortunately, Mom saw through him. She bought me a small cake and locked Dad in the room to give him a scolding. I lay by the door and listened for a while. I could hear Dad making suppressed, painful noises from time to time, and I was overjoyed.

Dad totally deserved it!

But when Dad and Mom finally came out, he had red marks all over him. I felt a little sorry for him. He might be a fool, but he’s still my dad. Seeing how badly Mom had beaten him, I decided to give him the last piece of meat in my bowl at dinner. 】

【 April 18, Rain.

My dad is insane.

Uncle Ah Dong brought us freshly bloomed roses today. They were beautiful. But just as I took the flowers at the door and turned around, I noticed that Dad, who had been playing games in the living room, had suddenly disappeared.

Luckily, I have a sharp nose. I followed the scent straight to the bedroom and pulled open the wardrobe door. Sure enough! There he was, secretly eating crushed ice behind my back!

And it was strawberry-flavored crushed ice!

I knew something was off! No wonder the crushed ice in the fridge kept disappearing. Turns out he was secretly eating it all!

I asked Dad for half, but he quickly took both halves and sucked on them, covering them in his saliva!

He wasn’t even willing to share half with me!

I couldn’t handle such injustice, so I decided that tonight I would cling to Mom and sleep with her instead.

In the middle of the night, Dad secretly placed a handful of candies in my arms.

Fine. I decided to forgive him.

So, I went back to my own room and went to sleep.

But the next day, I had diarrhea all day!

The candy Dad gave me was expired! 】

【 May 20, Overcast.

My dad is insane.

He said that since I seemed bored during the holiday, he was worried that I wouldn’t be able to support myself when I grew up. So, he asked me if I wanted to learn a trade.

I was shocked.

Was Dad finally going to act like a responsible adult and show his fatherly love?

Then, he took me to his workplace. The people in the neighborhood committee were very nice. Many uncles, aunties, grandpas, and grandmas even bought lots of snacks for me on purpose. Dad said I wouldn’t be able to carry them all, so he offered to keep them for me.

After that, he taught me how to fix water pipes and windows. Although I’m still short, I learn things quickly. Dad said something very reasonable: “True knowledge comes from practice.” I must not get arrogant.

So, when a resident came to the neighborhood committee for help, Dad sent me over to their house to assist.

By the time I finished fixing everything and came back, more than half of the snacks in my bag were gone!

I was ready to fight Dad to the death!

But the forces of evil were too strong.

He grabbed my tail in an instant and mercilessly swung me back and forth, humiliating me while calling me a “little meat worm”!

Unforgivable!

I swear I won’t be human if I don’t get my revenge!

When I grow up, I’ll make Mom get me a new dad!

To make Dad realize the seriousness of his actions, I have decided to run away from home! 】

Bai Yao finished flipping through the diary her son had deliberately placed on the table. She silently turned to look at the man kneeling on the floor.

Xue Yan clutched his own ears, his expression nervous and uneasy. He stole a glance at Bai Yao, then quickly lowered his head in fear.

Bai Yao crossed her arms. “Do you realize your mistake?”

Xue Yan nodded. “I do.”

“Then what are you waiting for? Hurry up and use that nose of yours to track down where our son ran off to!”

Xue Yan stretched out a finger and pointed. “There.”

Bai Yao looked over—it was in the direction of the inn.

Sure enough, in the only inn in Beiji Town, a six-year-old boy was sitting comfortably in a lounge chair, sipping an ice-cold rose milk tea while nibbling on a sweet little cake. He swung his short legs back and forth, clearly enjoying life to the fullest.

Innkeeper Shu asked with amusement, “So you ran away from home just because you couldn’t beat your dad?”

The little boy lifted his chin and huffed, “Uncle Shu, this isn’t just about winning or losing. It’s a matter of a man’s dignity! It’s very important!”

Innkeeper Shu chuckled. “And how old are you to be talking about a man’s dignity?”

The boy grinned, his smile innocent and pure. “Only the strongest man can marry a wife as wonderful as my mom. Otherwise, he’ll end up like you, resorting to sneaky tricks to force a girl into marriage.”

Innkeeper Shu’s smile stiffened for a moment.

He looked at the delicate, red-lipped, white-toothed little boy in front of him. He couldn’t help but think that his smile looked way too much like Xue Yan’s.

It really made him want to punch him.

Stay calm. He was a responsible adult. He couldn’t stoop to a child’s level.

Suppressing his irritation with good manners, Innkeeper Shu asked, “Xue Xiaobao, did your dad badmouth me behind my back?”

“Nope. I just guessed.”

Xue Xiaobao swung his short legs, tilted his head, and giggled. “I know that a few years ago, Uncle Shu sent a woman to Rose Manor. That was the only time you ever personally escorted someone. You let her go generously, but you must have tormented her in her dreams ever since, right? Poor lady, I really sympathize with her.”

Innkeeper Shu smiled without saying a word.

Xue Xiaobao was only six years old, with jet-black hair and snow-white skin, a strikingly beautiful child. Bai Yao always took the time to dress him up properly. Today, he wore a crisp white shirt, black tailored shorts, and a pair of polished little leather shoes, looking every bit like a delicate little noble gentleman.

At first glance, he seemed as innocent and naive as any ordinary child. His eyes curved into crescents when he smiled, radiating warmth and charm. But his learning ability was astonishing, his intelligence unusually sharp—his very nature dark at its core.

No one could tell who he took after.
