Bai Yao guessed that it was probably around this time that her boyfriend might be about to break up with her.

The reason was simple: her family had gone bankrupt. Now she’s working hard to take exams so she can work at a hospital. She barely managed to pass the written and interview tests, so naturally, she no longer had the money to support him.

Her boyfriend, on the other hand, was a typical freeloader, always wanting the best in food, clothing, and daily use. If his quality of life dropped even slightly, he would make snide, sarcastic remarks.

She must have been out of her mind back then to take the initiative to talk about dating with that boy who was a few years younger than her. Thinking about it now, she regretted it—deeply regretted it!

Carrying a shopping bag as she walked down the street, Bai Yao began to ponder. If he did not bring up breaking up, then she would have to raise the matter herself.

Otherwise, with just her meager salary, she really could not afford to support him!

Her phone rang countless times. This kind of person—who would keep calling as long as she didn’t pick up—apart from him, there was no one else.

Dragging her tired body, Bai Yao walked to the door of her rented apartment, took out the key, and unlocked the door. In an instant, a boy in a school uniform ran out from inside.

He complained with dissatisfaction, “You’re so slow. I’ve been waiting for you for a long time!”

Bai Yao glanced at him, changed into slippers, and casually replied, “I walked back, of course I’m slow.”

He asked, puzzled, “Why didn’t you take the bus?”

Bai Yao placed the shopping bag on the table and replied faintly, “Saving money.”

He let out an “oh,” then began rummaging through the contents of the shopping bag. Not finding the food he wanted, he pressed his lips together, and an unhappy look appeared on his beautiful face. “Where’s my caviar?”

Bai Yao slumped on the sofa in front of the fan and replied weakly, “Too expensive. I didn’t buy it.”

The boy frowned, walked straight up to her, blocking all the air from the fan, and said, “Go buy it.”

Bai Yao stretched out her foot and kicked him away. “No.”

He asked angrily, “Do you not love me anymore?”

Bai Yao lifted her gaze, and an inexplicable thought popped into her mind. Who wouldn’t love such a strikingly beautiful boy like him?

Indeed, he had a fine face.

White hair, pale skin, the loose blue-and-white school uniform making his tall, thin frame appear even more frail, giving him a harmless and delicate look.

The beauty mark beneath his left eye was perfectly placed, adding an inexplicable touch of gloom. Against his cool, pale skin, he looked just like the painted-skin ghost from stories, one who used their alluring exterior to ensnare the innocent.

At first sight, everyone would be involuntarily drawn to his appearance, and Bai Yao had been no exception.

Bai Yao still remembered the first time she met him.

In a hotel corridor, there was a tall girl in a white dress, dressed beautifully, her silver-white long hair tied into twin ponytails, the slightly curled tips almost reaching her waist.

Such a beautiful person could not be ignored.

And because she was so beautiful, she inevitably encountered a lot of trouble.

A man had her cornered against the wall, his words laced with a crazed obsession.

She looked at the man calmly. Her face was so strikingly beautiful that it appeared sharp, carrying an expression of lofty superiority. Even when trapped, she still carried herself like an arrogant queen who did not know the meaning of yielding or lowering herself.

She appeared young, perhaps not even of age.

Bai Yao, in a sudden impulse, walked over and pulled the girl behind her. If the man still refused to leave, she would call the police.

When the man heard the words “call the police,” the madness in his eyes briefly gave way to clarity. He seemed caught in a struggle with himself; this silver-haired girl he had just met held a dangerously strong allure for him, yet the remnants of his reason told him that what he was doing was wrong.

In the end, with great reluctance and a mind in extreme conflict, he left.

When Bai Yao turned around again, she did not miss the faint red glow that flashed on the girl’s body. She slowly covered her mouth. She had never imagined that things in this world could go so far. She was supposed to romance a woman?!

Freed from being cornered, the girl showed no gratitude at all. With her arms folded, pride written between her brows and eyes, she said, “Hey, what’s with the way you’re looking at me?”

It was a boy’s voice.

Bai Yao belatedly realized that this beautiful “girl” was in fact a boy. After a brief silence, she asked a question that would bring her endless trouble in the future, “Do you have someone you like? If not, do you want to try dating me?”

His beautiful eyes shifted slightly, then he smiled and said, “Sure.”

His tone was full of playfulness. Love at first sight was, of course, impossible; this was like an entertaining game, and he wanted to see how long Bai Yao could last in it.

As it turned out, Bai Yao should never have spoken so rashly!

Ever since she started dating him, she had been caught in a series of troublesome incidents. Men and women alike, because of him, treated her as a love rival. If it weren’t for her fully maxed-out survival skills, she would have capsized in the gutter one of these days!

Bai Yao remained silent. He pressed his lips together, the irritation in his eyes nearly condensing into a tangible gloom. “You said you would always love me. What, are you already tired of me now?”

Bai Yao sighed and slumped back into the sofa, exhausted. “Fu Huai, I’m really tired right now. Let me rest for a bit.”

“No resting!” He sat on the sofa, pulled her limp body upright, and shook her back and forth. “My caviar! You used to buy caviar for me!”

He was young and immature, yet carried the conviction that the whole world would scramble to please him. Bai Yao had suddenly stopped spoiling him, and he could not accept it.

Bai Yao spoke frankly. “That stuff is too expensive. I can’t afford it.”

On his beautiful face, his delicate features twisted slightly. “So in the end, you just don’t want to love me anymore!”

He demanded, “How can you not love me! You said you would love me unconditionally, that you would always spoil me. We haven’t even been together that long, and you’ve already changed!”

Bai Yao, limp like a salted fish, let him shake her as she lazily said, “Can you stop making a scene?”

“You actually said I’m making a scene!” Fu Huai stood up, his beautiful eyes widening, almost shooting out cold sparks. Ugly jealousy turned his godlike face into one full of aggression. “Bai Yao, have you fallen for someone else? Is it some little slut outside who’s seduced you? Is that why you don’t want me anymore?!”

Bai Yao explained calmly, “You’re overthinking it. I really haven’t had a change of heart.”

Her calmness only made his madness more apparent.

Fu Huai bit his lip, released her hand, and let out a cold laugh. “If you have someone else out there, then you do. I don’t care in the slightest. There are plenty of people in this world who will give me things anyway.”
