The fisherman looked at Zhao Gou with sheer terror on his face.

At that moment, Zhao Gou stood with his back to the sunlight, casting himself in shadow.

His expression, devoid of any smile, appeared even more ominous.

Zhao Gou was seething with anger.

“You said you thoroughly investigated and found no connection between me and those deaths?”

With difficulty, the fisherman nodded.

Zhao Gou subtly adjusted his magical energy.

Instantly, the man’s head flew into his hand.

The fisherman was utterly bewildered.

Did my head just fall off?

How did it happen?

Why am I still alive?

Zhao Gou’s eyes blazed crimson.

“Then why didn’t you help clear my name from the start? Do you know, during those three years, I painstakingly studied healing techniques to instill genuine fear in others? And damn it, I succeeded! I actually succeeded!”

“Do you have any idea how long it took me to learn medicine?”

“It took me two hundred years to master the art!”

“And do you know how much time it took to master killing through healing? Just three years! I achieved unparalleled mastery, surpassing all before and after me. Now you tell me you knew all along!”

The fisherman was dumbstruck.

Initially, he had assumed Zhao Gou was merely a pretender, relying on borrowed authority.

Yet, he never anticipated…

Zhao Gou had truly mastered that divine ability.

But what sorcery was this now? My head is severed yet I’m still alive?

Meanwhile, Zhao Gou seemed to have vented his anger fully and let out a final sigh.

“Fine, the past is past. I’ve come to understand; learning some means of self-defense isn’t inherently wrong.”

With that, Zhao Gou lifted the fisherman’s head and placed it back onto his body.

“Now, tell me, why did you try to kill me?”

Simultaneously, under the erosion of Zhao Gou’s magical energy, the fisherman’s fishing line snapped instantly.

The freed ghost-faced individuals looked at Zhao Gou with sheer terror in their eyes.

Indeed, their new leader, Yama, was truly a living embodiment of hell’s ruler.

Observe the fisherman, still rubbing his neck in disbelief.

However, he wasn’t one to remain passive. Realizing he was unharmed, he turned to flee immediately.

Yet as soon as he made a move, his entire body went limp, like clay collapsing.

“W-What did you do to me?!”

Zhao Gou snorted coldly.

“Don’t attempt any tricks before me, nor think about poisoning yourself for suicide!

“I won’t let you die until I wish, so if you don’t want to suffer further, confess honestly.”

The man remained silent, refusing to speak.

Zhao Gou chuckled softly.

At that moment, he identified a disease within the fisherman’s body and promptly amplified it.

“Ugh… Ahhh…”

The fisherman let out agonizing screams.

His piercing cries sent chills down one’s spine.

Even the ghost-masked individuals following Zhao Gou broke into cold sweats.

Indeed,

Zhao Gou’s methods were profoundly terrifying.

The fisherman attempted suicide by consuming poison.

Zhao Gou merely watched silently.

In the end, although the fisherman ingested the toxin, he only endured its torment without succumbing to death.

“I-I’ll talk, I’ll tell you everything,” the fisherman pleaded, “Please, just kill me.”

He could no longer bear it.

Zhao Gou had the ability not only to intensify pain but also to keep his victims fully conscious throughout their suffering.

Truly, he was like Yama incarnate, a living hell on earth!

“I am, I am from the Heaven Wrath Temple. We targeted you because of your medical skills!”

“I-I know only this much…”

Zhao Gou sensed that the fisherman wasn’t lying.

With that, he turned and walked away.

As he departed, the fisherman’s body slowly dissolved into blood, gradually vanishing without leaving even a trace of bone behind.

The group of ghost-masked individuals trembled visibly.

Suddenly, Zhao Gou noticed a passerby with a pale face mirroring his own.

Zhao Gou’s complexion also turned ashen.

Seeing Zhao Gou glance at him, the terrified passerby hastily flew away.

“Don’t, don’t run!” Zhao Gou shouted just as the figure took off.

“Whoosh…whoosh…”

Two figures swiftly darted out and immediately apprehended the fleeing person.

In no time, more and more individuals knelt before Zhao Gou.

Seated on a chair, he gazed at the sea of kneeling figures, feeling somewhat melancholic.

“Hey, you! Come here!” Zhao Gou randomly called over one of the ghost-masked men.

With utmost respect, the masked individual approached Zhao Gou.

“Lord Yama!”

Zhao Gou had long given up disputing this title.

“I ask you, how can I prevent these people from spreading rumors without killing them?”

The masked man hesitated briefly before responding, “They must join our Yanluo Palace and serve under you, my lord!”

Rubbing his temples, Zhao Gou sighed. “Go ahead and handle it!”

The masked man nodded, then led the captives away.

Left speechless, Zhao Gou observed the remaining group of masked individuals.

“Am I the Yanluo King of the Yama Palace?” Zhao Gou asked.

The group nodded affirmatively.

Zhao Gou continued, “Then, what exactly is my position within it?”

One of them hastily responded, “Naturally, you are one of our leaders!”

Zhao Gou pressed further, “And how influential is our organization?”

They fell silent for a moment before answering again, “On par with the Qinglian Sect!”

Speechless, Zhao Gou looked up at the sky and chuckled dryly, “Ha ha, creating a top-tier power must be quite challenging, huh?”

He felt utterly drained, unable to muster any more sarcasm.

For some inexplicable reason, he recalled the fortune-teller’s words:

“If you study medicine, your future will soar like a meteor, your destiny as mighty as a soaring dragon.”

Well, fucking hell…

Meanwhile, in another part of this world, Ji Suying’s expression was grim.

She had uncovered a new organization, one she had never heard of in her previous life – the Heaven Wrath Temple.

Shockingly, this group had been targeting and hunting down renowned geniuses from her past life. What further stunned Ji Suying was their intricate connection to the Tianji Holy Land of Central State.

Her face darkened considerably at this revelation.

Ji Suying’s greatest concern now lay with the imminent opening of the ancient secret realm. Talented individuals and future influential figures would soon gather in Qin Province.

Could it be that the Heaven Wrath Temple aims to wipe them all out in one fell swoop?

“No, I must go investigate!” Ji Suying felt restless.

Just as she made to leave, Ji Mingyue entered the room.

“Where are you heading, Sister?”

“I’m going to check things out below!” Ji Suying replied straightforwardly.

Ji Mingyue shook his head. “It’s not safe; there are at least three Void Refining experts lurking outside.”

“However, I’m curious too – why would they be focusing on you, Sister?”

Ji Suying gazed at the three distant Void Refining experts, her eyes filled with murderous intent.

“It’s because someone intends to massacre the talents below!”

Just as she finished speaking, the three Void Refining masters became restless and attempted to leave their positions.

Though unsure of the specifics, Ji Suying immediately realized the urgency.

“Mingyue, don’t let them escape!” With that, Ji Suying rushed forward.

Despite not knowing the reason behind Ji Suying’s actions, Ji Mingyue swiftly raised her hand.

“Boom~”

A massive cage instantly trapped the three Void Refining experts within.

Their expressions turned grim, realizing Liu Shunyi had likely already set off with a black gourd towards the Heaven Wrath Temple…
