Liu Shunyi had been in secluded cultivation, striving to reach the Golden Core Realm. With numerous enemies already at hand, there was no better time to vigorously advance his cultivation. The Jing Shui City Guards and Imperial Guard were mere inconsequential foes; as their numbers dwindled, their names faded away in the Grand Dao Golden Book. Liu Shunyi decided to rigorously train using these two groups as targets.

Time flew by, and another half month passed swiftly. During this period, the names of the Jing Shui City Imperial Guard and Jing Shui City Guards disappeared entirely. Meanwhile, Liu Shunyi’s spiritual power condensation was complete. The next step involved gathering all the condensed spiritual power and fusing it to form a Golden Core. However, to achieve this, he needed to Transcend Tribulation.

Liu Shunyi ceased further cultivation, as the next stage required Transcending Tribulation, which was not ideal within the Qinglian Sect. Moreover, after consolidating his spiritual power, he realized an issue—he might have overdone the refinement of spiritual energy. According to the book provided by Ji Suying, when a cultivator refines and condenses spiritual energy, it eventually forms an incomplete, massive False Core within their body. The size of this False Core determines the strength of the impending thunder calamity.

In reality, for achieving the Golden Core stage, the size of the False Core does not matter; what’s crucial is successfully forming the Golden Core. Once formed, its size will gradually increase with continued cultivation. What truly matters is the quality of the spiritual energy. Higher quality increases the chances of successfully forming the Golden Core. Paradoxically, sometimes having a larger False Core can make Transcending Tribulation more perilous, as a bigger False Core leads to fiercer thunder calamities.

Looking at his own False Core, seemingly as vast as a celestial star, Liu Shunyi couldn’t help but feel concerned. “I wonder if the names on my Grand Dao Golden Book will withstand this!” However, upon further thought, it seemed inconsequential. For now, Liu Shunyi decided not to rush his Core Formation process. Instead, he utilized this time to carefully select potential enemies.

With nothing pressing at hand, Liu Shunyi chose to relax in his small courtyard, sipping tea and enjoying the scenery. Simultaneously, he began studying Magic Spells of the Foundation Establishment realm. These spells were relatively straightforward to learn, as Foundation Establishment cultivators’ Magic Spells were only slightly more complex than those learned by Qi Refining practitioners. The primary difference lay in the Foundation Establishment Items they possessed, which enhanced the potency of their spells, elevating their effectiveness significantly during casting.

On the other hand, Golden Core Cultivators’ spells seemed intriguing but remained beyond his current capabilities to execute. Liu Shunyi started browsing through the Magic Spells accessible to Golden Core Cultivators. “Hmm?” Upon examining the Golden Core spells personally, Liu Shunyi felt as if it was almost surreal. These spells had the potential to extinguish both heaven and earth. Spells like Endless Heavenly Fire and Infinite as Water, once unleashed, could annihilate both heaven and earth.

“No wonder I barely saw any Golden Core Cultivators from the Heavenly God Cult before they were instantly wiped out,” Liu Shunyi observed silently, deeply impressed. “This gap between Golden Core and Foundation Establishment is monumental!”

At that moment, above Qinglian Sect’s skies, a flying boat approached, immediately catching everyone’s attention, including Liu Shunyi’s gaze. With just one glance, his pupils contracted in shock. The flying boat was severely battered and covered with bloodstains—some dried, others fresh. On board the vessel, numerous injured disciples lay scattered, their wounds even more gruesome than those encountered during previous clean-up missions after battles with Monster Cultivators.

Shortly thereafter, the flying boat landed at the sect’s docking area. Countless servants rushed to assist, either retrieving bodies or carrying away the critically wounded disciples. Some injuries were so severe that limbs were beyond recognition, requiring tools for cleanup. The servant disciples had no choice but to use their hoes to clear the wreckage. Although this wasn’t their first encounter with such scenes, witnessing it again left Liu Shunyi feeling uneasy. However, there was little they could do about it. For resources and benefits, one must strive relentlessly, and this pursuit inevitably leads to bloodshed.

In the blink of an eye, another three days passed. On this day, a disciple returned to Hidden Sword Peak—someone Liu Shunyi recognized: Ye Yan, the very disciple who had his Spirit Root reconstructed within the Heavenly Fire Secret Realm and was personally recruited by Ji Suying. Ye Yan appeared severely injured and unconscious. Quickly, they brought him directly to Liu Shunyi.

“Alchemist Liu, do you have any healing Medicine Pills?!” the disciple asked urgently.

Liu Shunyi promptly nodded. “Yes, just wait a moment!” He rushed into his room, searching through his Storage Bag for the appropriate pill. Eventually, Liu Shunyi found one with a single pill marking and swiftly administered it to Ye Yan. As soon as Ye Yan swallowed the Medicine Pill, his wounds visibly began to heal before their eyes. Moreover, faint wisps of flame started emanating from his body.

“Huff…” Ye Yan suddenly sat up from the ground, looking disoriented around him. “Is this the sect? Hidden Sword Peak? Alchemist Liu!” Recognizing the surroundings, Ye Yan let out a sigh of relief. “I’m back!”

The disciple who brought Ye Yan noticed him recovering and promptly took his leave. Ye Yan, after assessing his body, looked at Liu Shunyi with astonishment. “My damaged foundation is completely healed!”

Liu Shunyi remained silent but composed. Ye Yan hastily knelt down, bowing deeply to Liu Shunyi. “Whoa, no need! Please get up!” Liu Shunyi exclaimed.

Ye Yan shook his head firmly. “Alchemist Liu, your kindness has given me a second chance; this humble gesture is the least I can offer.”

Liu Shunyi felt slightly awkward, yet his admiration for Ye Yan grew exponentially. Compared to that gatekeeper, Ye Yan was infinitely more appreciative. “Please rise. We are fellow sect members, there’s no need for such formality!”

Ye Yan smiled. Seeing that Liu Shunyi didn’t wish to elaborate further, he refrained from asking more questions. However, the mere concept of a Medicine Pill capable of repairing one’s foundation was unheard of. Though Ye Yan kept his thoughts to himself, internally, he made a mental note of this remarkable feat.

“Alchemist Liu, may I request to stay here for some time to recuperate fully? If it’s not too much trouble, of course.”

Liu Shunyi pondered for a moment before finally nodding. His primary concern was to gather information on the ongoing siege against the Heavenly God Cult by various major sects and understand its current status. Thus, he agreed to stay.

Ye Yan was delighted that Liu Shunyi consented to remain with him. Over the following days, Liu Shunyi gradually understood why Ye Yan wanted to stay. The young man tirelessly worked day after day, cleaning the courtyard and rooms, even serving tea and water for him. This made Liu Shunyi feel quite embarrassed and indebted.
