EX: 19/20

Liu Shunyi never anticipated this outcome.

His cultivation of the Blood Demon Scripture had unexpectedly transformed it.

Originally, the Blood Demon Scripture only allowed him to absorb others’ blood to enhance his own physical body.

However, after relentless and life-risking practice, Liu Shunyi’s version not only absorbed blood but also refined and assimilated other beings’ flesh, significantly increasing his bodily strength.

Even more astonishing was his newfound ability to absorb others’ longevity, thereby rapidly boosting his cultivation base. This method proved faster than any spiritual elixirs or potent medicines.

“This truly is a technique abhorred by the heavens!” Liu Shunyi felt a growing sense of dread as he continued his cultivation.

What alarmed Liu Shunyi even further was noticing that only Shi Changxin’s name remained on the Grand Dao Golden Book. Panic surged within him instantly.

“Wow, no way! How long have I been cultivating? Surely they can’t all be dead?”

The most perplexing aspect for Liu Shunyi was understanding how Nalang Buzhu met his demise during cultivation, which seemed somewhat plausible. But what about Chen Beiping? How did he die? Was it sudden and unexpected?

This realization left Liu Shunyi deeply shaken.

“In the cultivation world, indeed there is no guaranteed protagonist, nor assurance of one’s rise to prominence!”

As he pondered, Liu Shunyi became increasingly convinced that he must remain cautious.

Yet, here lay the dilemma – damn it, he now found himself without enemies. This situation was disheartening.

No, sitting idly waiting for doom would not do. He needed to devise ways to create some adversaries.

As the saying goes:

“Becoming a good person takes effort,

But embracing villainy is strikingly simple.”

Liu Shunyi placed the puppet inside his cultivation chamber.

Taking advantage of the night’s cover, he stealthily departed from Qinglian Sect.

In fact, before leaving, Liu Shunyi had already chosen his destination:

Jing Shui City!

The reason for selecting this place was that it housed the black market of the cultivation world.

To provoke others into wanting to kill him, he didn’t need elaborate schemes; all it took was breaking their rules.

Once someone desires your demise, they would inevitably appear on the hit list.

Of course, Liu Shunyi wasn’t interested in making enemies randomly. The choice of Jing Shui City’s black market stemmed from the fact that those who sold goods here often obtained them through theft, murder, or various illicit means.

On the surface, such items couldn’t be openly traded, hence the necessity of the black market.

Upon arrival, Liu Shunyi immediately changed his appearance.

Liu Shunyi donned a mask and confidently strode into Jing Shui City.

However, just as he entered through the city gates, two Foundation Establishment Cultivators intercepted him.

“Friend, the rules!” they declared, immediately extending their hands for payment.

Liu Shunyi was taken aback.

Rules? What rules?

Demanding money right off the bat seemed unusual.

He quickly lowered his voice and insisted, “I have no money!”

The two cultivators’ eyes turned icy cold.

“Do you think we’re blind? Your Storage Bag clearly holds at least hundreds of thousands of Spirit Stones!”

Liu Shunyi fell silent, momentarily stunned.

At that moment, he noticed a name finally appearing on the Grand Dao Golden Book:

“Jìng Shui City Guard (Top Grade Blue)”

Wait, what does this mean?

Name? Where’s the name?

Moreover, why is a Jìng Shui City Guard marked as Top Grade Blue?

Yet Liu Shunyi felt something wasn’t quite right. After pondering briefly, he discreetly used a dagger to prick his own thigh.

“Ah!”

“Ah!”

Both guards simultaneously let out agonized cries.

Blood began streaming from their thighs.

“You dare to attack us?” One guard glared furiously at Liu Shunyi.

Liu Shunyi hastily waved his hands. “I didn’t do it! Honestly, I’m always rule-abiding!”

Quickly, he distributed money among them.

Each guard received a generous handful of Spirit Stones.

The two guards looked bewildered.

Could it be that this man genuinely wasn’t responsible?

However, it didn’t really matter.

Immediately, they sent a telepathic message: “Brothers, alert! A fat target has emerged – carrying no less than hundreds of thousands of Spirit Stones!”

Upon hearing this news, the Jing Shui City Guards erupted with excitement.

Meanwhile, Liu Shunyi was somewhat stunned.

In the Grand Dao Golden Book, the color representing the Jing Shui City Guards slowly changed from Top Grade Blue to Initial Grade Violet.

Liu Shunyi fell deep into thought.

“Color upgrade! This indicates that more people want me dead now? Although these individuals aren’t even worthy of names in the Grand Dao Golden Book, their numbers are quite significant!”

Liu Shunyi glanced at his Storage Bag, finding it somewhat amusing.

While this was intentional on his part, he hadn’t anticipated such success with his baiting strategy.

With this thought, Liu Shunyi switched to another Storage Bag and increased the Spirit Stone count to approximately one million. He intentionally kept the restriction weak, making it easily detectable.

As expected, after changing his Storage Bag, the entries in the Grand Dao Golden Book transformed once again:

‘Jing Shui City Guard (Top Grade Violet)’

‘Jing Shui City Imperial Guard (Initial Grade Pink)’

Internally, Liu Shunyi felt alarmed. Jing Shui City truly seemed like a place where one could be devoured without leaving a trace, as even the Imperial Guard coveted his wealth.

However, Liu Shunyi remained unsatisfied. Despite the growing number of potential adversaries, none were significant enough to warrant a name in the book.

This was not what Liu Shunyi desired.

He continued deeper into Jing Shui City, carrying his vast wealth with unwavering confidence.

The color of the Jing Shui City Guards remained unchanged, but surprisingly, the Jing Shui City Imperial Guard’s aura shifted to Initial Grade Pink.

Despite numerous individuals wanting him dead, Liu Shunyi felt no panic whatsoever. He knew these people couldn’t harm him, and moreover, he was currently not recognized as Liu Shunyi himself.

Thus, he could afford to be bolder in his actions.

However, there was one unfortunate aspect. Among those running stalls, although their eyes followed him intently, none displayed any names.

Liu Shunyi found this puzzling. Were they not tempted by such wealth? Weren’t these people supposed to be vicious and desperate? How could they all remain so composed?

He circled around again, observing that the stallholders showed no signs of movement or interest.

Finally unable to resist, Liu Shunyi casually squatted down at an elderly man’s stall.

“Don’t you have any thoughts about me?”

The old man’s expression turned peculiar.

“Cough, cough, I assure you, I do not harbor such inclinations!”

Liu Shunyi was taken aback.

“What the hell are you talking about?”

“Ah, what I meant is, seeing how wealthy I am, aren’t you tempted?”

The old man finally comprehended Liu Shunyi’s intent and hastily waved his hand.

“No sane person would dare to entertain any ideas about you!”

Liu Shunyi felt utterly confused.

“How so?”

The old man seemed speechless.

“Aren’t you clearly fishing for trouble? Even children in the cultivation world understand the principle of not flaunting wealth openly. By deliberately displaying your riches, aren’t you inviting an attack just to counter-kill later, turning it into a case of ‘black eating black’?”

“To be honest, we’ve all tried similar tactics before!”

Liu Shunyi was left speechless.

He couldn’t wrap his head around it. Aren’t villains in novels supposed to be idiots? How come, in his situation, everyone saw through his ploy with such clarity?

Resigned, Liu Shunyi put away his Storage Bag. After some thought, he casually took an item from the old man’s stall without paying and walked off.

Liu Shunyi casually took something from the old man’s stall and left without paying.

The old man remained silent!
