Extra 20 Chapter (Limit 40ch bonus chapter for this event)

EX: 11/20

Liu Shunyi felt like just a pawn in this situation.

All because Chen Qiaoli was present.

She continuously manipulated the mechanisms on the chest as if solving a puzzle, her hands moving swiftly.

Liu Shunyi observed for a moment but couldn’t make sense of it. Deciding to wait patiently, he stood by.

Fortunately, Chen Qiaoli didn’t keep Liu Shunyi waiting for long.

“Click, click!”

With two soft sounds, handprint-shaped mechanisms appeared on the chest, labeled ‘Male’ and ‘Female’.

“Alright, let’s press them simultaneously,” Chen Qiaoli instructed.

Liu Shunyi promptly positioned himself.

“Remember, you have only three breaths to open the box and quickly retrieve whatever is inside, no matter what it looks like!” she cautioned.

Liu Shunyi nodded in understanding.

Together, they pressed down on the respective switches.

“Pssshh!”

Liu Shunyi felt a sharp pain, as if his palm had been pierced, followed by a continuous draining sensation.

Chen Qiaoli’s face turned pale.

“Does this thing also suck blood?” Liu Shunyi exclaimed, startled.

“Pop!”

Suddenly, the chest sprang open.

“Hurry, you first!” Chen Qiaoli urged.

Without hesitation, Liu Shunyi peered inside and spotted a book. Without further thought, he swiftly grabbed it.

“Clack!”

The chest closed once more.

“Again!” Chen Qiaoli declared.

Liu Shunyi nodded, and both placed their hands back onto the mechanisms.

“Pop!”

The chest opened again. This time, without even looking, Chen Qiaoli immediately retrieved a mirror from within.

Liu Shunyi became instantly curious. When he took the book earlier, he had carefully inspected the interior of the chest.

In reality, there was nothing inside.

Yet, after closing and reopening the box,

an item unexpectedly appeared.

Chen Qiaoli took a deep breath, feeling somewhat curious as she observed Liu Shunyi’s expression.

“Why doesn’t your face show any change?”

Liu Shunyi responded earnestly, “I consistently practice Body Refinement, so losing a bit of blood has minimal impact on me!”

Chen Qiaoli was taken aback.

“Wait, just some blood? That’s all you lost?”

Liu Shunyi also seemed puzzled.

“Huh, did something else go missing too?”

Chen Qiaoli composed herself briefly before explaining.

“This artifact extracts one’s essence and longevity to match with treasures. You only lost some blood… well, that’s not significant!” She stopped, not wanting to delve further into someone else’s secrets, considering it highly impolite.

However, Liu Shunyi remained bewildered, staring at the blank book in his hand. No matter how he looked at it, it didn’t seem like a valuable treasure. There was nothing particularly special about it. If anything unusual could be noted, perhaps its resistance to water and fire?

Still perplexed, Liu Shunyi asked, “Senior Sister, may I ask boldly, what is the purpose of your mirror?”

Chen Qiaoli pondered for a moment before deciding to demonstrate its capabilities.

He placed a Medicine Pill in front of the mirror. Then, reaching out his hand, he retrieved an identical pill from within the mirror’s reflection.

Instantly, the mirror became hazy.

“Wow, it’s the Twin Stars Mirror!” Liu Shunyi exclaimed in shock.

Equally astonished, Chen Qiaoli asked, “Junior Brother, you recognize this artifact?”

Liu Shunyi swallowed nervously. “I’ve seen mention of it in ancient texts once. This mirror can replicate any object once per day, remember, any object! It’s truly a heaven-defying treasure!”

“I always thought it was just a legend, never expecting such a thing could actually exist.”

Hearing Liu Shunyi’s explanation, Chen Qiaoli was astounded as well.

“It can replicate anything?” she queried.

Liu Shunyi nodded. “If it indeed is the Twin Stars Mirror, then yes, that’s its ability.”

However, at that moment, Liu Shunyi couldn’t help but glance at the book in his hands. “What the hell is this thing?”

He genuinely couldn’t comprehend it.

Suddenly, the book vanished into Liu Shunyi’s consciousness sea.

Liu Shunyi watched as the Grand Dao Golden Book swiftly consumed the manuscript.

And then… nothing happened.

“Wait, oh mighty Golden Scroll, that’s it? You swallowed the book, but what was its effect? Come on, tell me!”

At that moment, the nearby golden brush began to vibrate.

The originally pure gold-colored brush now displayed subtle purple patterns along its shaft.

Liu Shunyi stared, bewildered. “Is this all? Pen Master, could you explain what additional function you’ve gained?”

The golden brush lay quietly beside the Grand Dao Golden Book, completely motionless.

Liu Shunyi was speechless, his expression conveying utter disbelief.

“Junior Brother, what use does your book serve?” Chen Qiaoli couldn’t help but ask.

Liu Shunyi looked at Chen Qiaoli and took a deep breath. “If I say absolutely none, would you believe me?”

Seeing Liu Shunyi’s face, as if he had just eaten a fly, Chen Qiaoli nodded involuntarily.

“Could it be that you only lost some blood, unlike me who sacrificed both longevity and essence?”

Liu Shunyi felt there might be some truth to her suggestion.

Seeing Chen Qiaoli’s reaction, it was clear that attempting another extraction was out of the question.

Yet Liu Shunyi remained undeterred.

“Senior Sister, must it involve two people? Can’t it be done alone?”

Chen Qiaoli didn’t respond verbally but pointed at the table instead.

“Can you still see that chest?”

Liu Shunyi looked up, and as expected, the chest had vanished from view.

He was left speechless.

“This is fucking ridiculous!”

At that moment, Chen Qiaoli patted Liu Shunyi on the shoulder.

“Don’t worry, you’ve still helped Senior Sister this time. Now that I have the Twin Stars Mirror, when I come across valuable items, naturally, there will be something for you too!”

Liu Shunyi instantly brightened.

“Many thanks, Senior Sister!”

Chen Qiaoli nodded.

“Let’s go, go, go! Next, we’ll select our divine abilities, and after that, it’s time to leave!”

Liu Shunyi agreed with enthusiasm.

Then, he watched as Chen Qiaoli once again retrieved the gopher from beneath the tile they emerged from earlier.

With two swift slaps, “Lead us to the Divine Ability Hall!”

Tears welled up in the gopher’s eyes as it spun around frantically. Nonetheless, it obediently guided them at full speed.

Strangely, they encountered no traps along the way. However, Liu Shunyi couldn’t help but wonder:

“Senior Sister, why do you always give him a few slaps first?”

Chen Qiaoli responded seriously:

“This little gopher has a rebellious nature by birth. Unless you discipline him beforehand, he won’t cooperate. Naturally, these creatures possess an innate ability to sense danger and seek fortune; if not for their stubbornly defiant traits, everyone would likely have one by now.”

Liu Shunyi nodded with understanding.

Shortly after,

the gopher led them to another grand hall.

Upon entering, Liu Shunyi was immediately struck by the sight of countless floating books suspended in mid-air, each enveloped in protective glows.

Chen Qiaoli explained, “Just like the treasure chests outside, you can only choose one book. Don’t even think about picking two at once; it might result in getting none at all. So, Junior Brother, make your selection carefully this time.”

Liu Shunyi instantly focused his full attention.
