EX: 8/20

“Clang!”

Just as Chen Qiaoli equipped her Defense Magic Artifact,

she encountered an attack.

The force was so intense

that it pushed Chen Qiaoli back three steps.

Liu Shunyi was taken aback.

He wasn’t aware of the exact potency of Chen Qiaoli’s Defense Magic Artifacts,

but he knew she possessed numerous ones,

even enhanced with Talisman blessings.

Despite all that,

she still retreated three steps.

How powerful must the attacker be?

However, when Liu Shunyi saw Shi Changxin’s current state, he was even more dumbfounded.

“Is this Shi Changxin? How did he become so diminutive?” Liu Shunyi wondered internally.

Adding to his confusion was Shi Changxin’s realm.

Why only at Peak Foundation Establishment?

“Could it be that Ji Suying thrashed him?”

Liu Shunyi formed a tentative guess.

Meanwhile, Shi Changxin was even more astonished.

Although his cultivation had just recovered to Peak Foundation Establishment,

his attack methods were genuinely Golden Core level.

With such formidable techniques at his disposal, he couldn’t even breach the woman’s defenses? What has the world come to? Are Qi Refining Cultivators now this terrifying?

“I refuse to believe I can’t break through your defense today!” Shi Changxin exclaimed.

With renewed vigor, he unleashed burst after burst of magical energy, striking Chen Qiaoli relentlessly with his fists.

Chen Qiaoli remained composed, continuously activating three shield-like Magic Artifacts around her. For added safety, she also summoned a large bell enveloping herself.

“Boom… Boom…”

Shi Changxin’s attacks intensified, but no matter what technique he employed, ultimately, he failed to penetrate Chen Qiaoli’s defenses.

“Huff… Huff…”

Finally, after attacking for nearly an hour, Shi Changxin exhausted himself. The surrounding trees were shattered, yet Chen Qiaoli stood unscathed.

Frustrated, Shi Changxin felt like spitting blood. “Girl, are you part turtle or something?”

Chen Qiaoli looked sternly at Shi Changxin.

“Between you and me, there’s no grudge or enmity. Why did you suddenly attack?”

Shi Changxin licked his lips.

“You can only blame your blood for being too enticing!”

Chen Qiaoli took a deep breath and glanced at Liu Shunyi.

“Hurry and leave; against this fellow, I have only a nine-tenth chance of victory!”

Liu Shunyi was speechless.

Well, damn!

A nine-tenth chance of victory, yet your expression makes it seem like you have none whatsoever.

After a moment of hesitation, Liu Shunyi shook his head.

“Senior Sister, please step aside, I’ll handle this guy!”

Chen Qiaoli looked at Shi Changxin, then shifted her gaze to Liu Shunyi. Finally, she nodded.

“All right, I’ll wait for you up ahead by Qiong!”

With that, Chen Qiaoli vanished using earth escape techniques.

Liu Shunyi felt stunned.

“Wait, you’re just leaving now? According to typical drama scripts, shouldn’t we be engaging in some back-and-forth struggle?”

Moreover, what left Liu Shunyi utterly speechless was this:

Chen Qiaoli, as a Core Formation powerhouse,

notably,

facing a mere Foundation Establishment Cultivator,

how could she calculate her chances of victory to be merely nine-tenths?

However, these concerns were not crucial.

With no one else around, Liu Shunyi also wanted to gauge his current abilities.

Fully disguised, he stared assertively at Shi Changxin.

“Come on, boy, let me teach you today what it means to…”

Before Liu Shunyi could finish, he saw Shi Changxin abruptly control his sword and chase after Chen Qiaoli.

Throughout this exchange, Shi Changxin never even glanced at Liu Shunyi once.

Liu Shunyi scratched his head, exasperated.

“Well, isn’t that something? I wasted my breath!”

Naturally, Liu Shunyi still had to follow them. He feared that Shi Changxin might end up killed by Chen Qiaoli.

In fact, his concern was justified.

As soon as he arrived at the battlefield, he witnessed Shi Changxin trapped within a formation by Chen Qiaoli.

Immediately afterward, Chen Qiaoli unleashed twelve massive cauldrons, repeatedly striking Shi Changxin.

“Bam, bam, bam…”

Under the relentless bombardment of Chen Qiaoli’s twelve cauldrons, Shi Changxin continuously coughed blood. His already diminutive frame seemed even smaller now. Shi Changxin’s resolve began to crumble.

He knew he couldn’t defeat Ji Suying and accepted it.

Initially, his intention was merely to consume the blood of a Qi Refining ant.

However, she turned out to be a wolf in sheep’s clothing, leaving him incapacitated.

Most terrifyingly,

She managed to escape certain death from Ji Suying’s grasp.

Encountering this woman now, Shi Changxin felt that today might be his last.

Her ruthlessness was overwhelming.

By deploying the Sky-Sealing Earth-Locking Great Formation,

he found himself trapped with no way to ascend or descend.

Additionally, the Space Locking Great Array further sealed his fate.

Alright, regardless of any means he tried, escape seemed impossible.

“Cursed! Is this truly where I meet my demise?”

Shi Changxin remained unwilling, yet fate had other plans.

From afar, noticing the dire situation, the crow swiftly intervened.

Ignoring Chen Qiaoli’s Formation entirely, the crow swooped in, grabbed Shi Changxin by his hair, and instantly vanished.

“Buzzzz…”

Meanwhile, Chen Qiaoli retrieved her Magic Artifacts and Formation Flags, turning to Liu Shunyi, who approached leisurely on his sword. “Look,” she said, “this unexpected interference ruined our chance for success!”

Liu Shunyi fell silent.

“We must leave quickly,” he responded. “The commotion has already drawn attention; if we don’t depart now, more trouble will follow.”

Nodding in agreement, they hastily departed as if fleeing danger.

Three days swiftly passed.

In a cave at this moment:

Shi Changxin sat huddled with his arms around his knees, deep within the cavern.

His expression was somewhat dazed, verging on mental collapse.

Having endured two successive life-and-death encounters – both times utterly crushed, without any means to retaliate – had taken its toll.

Now, Shi Changxin’s Dao heart was nearing breaking point.

The crow tried to counsel him, “Ji Suying is akin to the protagonist of this era, far more talented and powerful than you. Yet, none of them could even make her draw her sword, while you nearly forced her hand. You should be immensely proud.”

Shi Changxin looked blankly at the crow. “Is that true?”

The crow nodded affirmatively. “Absolutely! Ask any of today’s Heaven’s Chosen, how many can withstand three moves against Ji Suying? Forget three, there aren’t even those who last two moves! You managed at least two, and Ji Suying almost drew her sword!”

A glimmer of pride returned to Shi Changxin’s eyes. “When you put it like that, I see your point!”

“Even the girl with the turtle shell took advantage when my cultivation hadn’t fully recovered, overpowering me with her realm!”

The crow nodded again. “That’s right, remember, you’re playing at the highest level!”

Instantly, Shi Changxin regained his fighting spirit.

“You’re right,” he exclaimed. “Moreover, now that I can rebuild my foundation, I even sense that once my fleshly body is fully restored, my cultivation base could advance further!”

The crow nodded again.

“Exactly, so you must stay determined.”

Suddenly, Shi Changxin’s gaze turned icy as he spotted someone standing outside the cave.

It was the Qi Refining ant who had accompanied the turtle shell woman.

At that moment, Liu Shunyi entered leisurely, carrying a massive one-and-a-half-meter sword over his shoulder.

“Ah ha! Found you!” the mayor sneered angrily.

“Daring to provoke me with just a Qi Refining cultivation? You audacious insect!”

“Wait!” Shi Changxin quickly glanced at the crow perched on his shoulder and asked, “Is that turtle woman here?”

The crow shook its head.

“No, he’s alone!”

Enraged, Shi Changxin roared, “Boy, today marks your end!”

In a flash, Shi Changxin lunged forward, throwing a powerful punch towards Liu Shunyi’s chest.

“Bang!”

A dull thud echoed.

Liu Shunyi neither dodged nor resisted the blow.

“You, this…” Shi Changxin stared incredulously at Liu Shunyi.

What the hell is going on? Is he truly only at the Qi Refining stage?

Is this truly just a Cultivator at the Qi Refining Ninth Layer?

Liu Shunyi sighed.

“You’re disappointingly weak. However, step aside; I’m not here for you!”

With that, Liu Shunyi swiftly reached out and grabbed the crow perched on Shi Changxin’s shoulder.

“Caw! Caw! Caw…” The crow squawked frantically.

A cruel smile spread across Liu Shunyi’s face.
