Extra Chapter: 20/20

On their way out,

Liu Shunyi did not accompany Ji Suying.

It simply wouldn’t have been appropriate.

After all, Ji Suying was a prominent star within the Qinglian Sect.

In contrast, he was just an obscure member of the Outer Sect.

Walking together might even give off ambiguous impressions at times, which could be quite problematic.

No need for that.

As Liu Shunyi approached the team heading to the secret realm,

he felt a chill upon seeing who led them.

The leader was none other than Elder Qing Teng.

Just as he stepped onto the flying boat,

Elder Qing Teng’s gaze seemed fixed on him, covertly observing his every move.

‘This old codger is definitely up to something. I’ve already hinted to Senior Sister Ji about my suspicions; could it be that she found nothing incriminating?’

Liu Shunyi was deeply puzzled.

Despite his confusion, what concerned him most was this:

The old codger’s constant scrutiny clearly signaled trouble – a highly unfavorable situation for him.

And worse still, there was a possibility…

This old fellow might attempt to assassinate me along the way.

If a Golden Core cultivator wants to eliminate me covertly,

how should I prepare myself?

Liu Shunyi’s mind raced frantically.

Just then, Ji Suying approached.

“What’s on your mind?”

Liu Shunyi hastily bowed in greeting.

“Greetings, Senior Sister.”

Ji Suying waved her hand dismissively.

“I sense you’re quite tense!”

Liu Shunyi looked at Ji Suying, hesitating to speak, his gaze subtly drifting towards Elder Qing Teng.

Ji Suying’s eyes flickered briefly before feigning ignorance.

“Is it your first time entering a secret realm? Feeling nervous is understandable!”

As she spoke, Ji Suying discreetly handed Liu Shunyi a talisman.

“This talisman can withstand a full-force attack from a Golden Core cultivator! Use it wisely!”

Naturally, when giving him the talisman, she did so secretly, ensuring no one else saw.

Her actions had their own purpose behind them.

Seemingly understanding something, Liu Shunyi accepted the talisman, feeling considerably more reassured inside.

However, this situation felt deeply unsettling. What if Ji Suying hadn’t been there today? Wouldn’t he have been completely at their mercy?

Moreover, Liu Shunyi had meticulously studied the Grand Dao Golden Book’s flaw.

What would happen if he encountered an enemy possessing the Grand Dao Golden Book?

If he held absolute power, he could directly control the person with the Grand Dao Golden Book and then command his own disciples to follow orders and eliminate that individual. Since the disciples merely obey instructions, it’s uncertain whether they would trigger the Grand Dao Golden Book’s protection. Even if they did, there is still a three-second vacuum period during which ample time exists to kill them over a hundred times.

Furthermore, even if Liu Shunyi were killed now, for Elder Qing Teng, it would likely only result in severe injury, not death. This was something Liu Shunyi had previously tested. For instance, by burning his essence continuously for an entire day, Shi Changxin’s name on the scroll barely faded by one-third.

“I must achieve Foundation Establishment quickly!” Liu Shunyi resolved firmly within himself.

Once inside the secret realm, everything else takes a backseat; his priority will be reaching Foundation Establishment first.

But currently,

there’s nothing he can do.

Now, Liu Shunyi could only hope that Ji Suying would prove reliable.

With this thought, he involuntarily tightened his grip on the talisman nestled within his robes.

As Liu Shunyi’s mind wandered,

the flying boat abruptly took off.

“Rumble…”

The vibration of the flying boat jolted Liu Shunyi back to reality.

“This Heavenly Fire Secret Realm is one of our Qinglian Sect’s smaller Secret Realms. Within it, numerous opportunities and Magic Treasures abound. Naturally, for you Outer Sect disciples, this secret realm presents a chance to leap forward significantly. There exists a blessed land inside, capable of enhancing your Spirit Roots or foundational aptitude!”

After entering the cloud layer, Elder Qing Teng began explaining details about the secret realm.

Upon hearing about the blessed land within the Heavenly Fire Secret Realm that could transform their foundations, the Outer Sect disciples erupted with excitement.

Indeed, those selected for this journey were disciples with commendable talent. However, they were hindered by the limitations of their Spirit Roots, making it challenging to advance their cultivation bases significantly.

If their Spirit Roots could undergo metamorphosis,

it would be akin to a rebirth through Nirvana for them.

Instantaneously,

a wave of enthusiasm swept over the disciples.

However, Elder Qing Teng’s next words poured cold water over their excitement.

“Although there exists a blessed place to transform your Spirit Roots, it requires Nirvana Fruits. These fruits can also be found within the secret realm, but there are only twelve available!”

With that, Elder Qing Teng stopped speaking and looked at the crowd with a smile.

More accurately,

he was observing Liu Shunyi.

Liu Shunyi felt increasingly agitated inside.

That cunning old dog!

He likely knew of Liu Shunyi’s intention to reach Foundation Establishment within the secret realm and was deliberately trying to unsettle him.

Of course,

Liu Shunyi remained unfazed.

In truth, advancing his Spirit Root didn’t matter much to him.

After all, he had an external advantage.

As long as there were enough enemies…

Hmm?

Suddenly, an idea struck Liu Shunyi.

“Why not directly change my appearance, create conflicts everywhere, especially targeting geniuses or those from influential families backed by powerful cultivators?”

“This way, I’ll accumulate numerous enemies. With some luck, I might even encounter a Nascent Soul Cultivator to inscribe in the Grand Dao Golden Book!”

His eyes lit up at this thought.

Naturally,

reckless killing wasn’t advisable.

But the seed of this plan

had been planted in Liu Shunyi’s mind.

If he successfully reached Foundation Establishment this time,

he would endeavor to put this plan into action.

Having more enemies meant

more opportunities to experiment with various Cultivation Techniques.

For instance,

those that consume longevity,

or techniques requiring self-sacrifice of spirit or flesh.

Liu Shunyi secretly harbored these thoughts deep within.

The flying boat journey lasted approximately three days.

During this time, Liu Shunyi hardly slept well. Even when he did nod off, his hand tightly clutched the talisman given to him by Ji Suying.

Over these three days, Liu Shunyi hoped that Elder Qing Teng would make some move, as he knew Ji Suying was also observing covertly. Unfortunately, throughout those days, Elder Qing Teng remained completely inactive.

Finally, on the third day, the flying boat descended near the outskirts of the Heavenly Fire Secret Realm. Still, Elder Qing Teng showed no signs of action.

After disembarking from the flying boat, Ji Suying glanced at Liu Shunyi with a questioning look. In response, Liu Shunyi could only awkwardly scratch his head, surprised by Elder Qing Teng’s patience.

However, the name of Elder Qing Teng appeared clearly in the Grand Dao Golden Book, which couldn’t be a mere coincidence. But why hadn’t he made his move yet? Did he suspect something?

Liu Shunyi couldn’t resist another glance at Elder Qing Teng, who continued to smile benignly like a kind old man.

Speechless, Liu Shunyi watched silently.

“The secret realm lies ahead,” announced Elder Qing Teng. “Within it, your fortunes depend solely on individual opportunities. Disciples, please enter!”

With that, Elder Qing Teng unleashed a burst of magical energy with a single gesture, creating a vortex resembling a mirror within the void. Through this vortex, glimpses of scenes inside the secret realm were visible.

As soon as the entrance opened, the eager disciples, unable to contain their excitement, swiftly surged forward on their swords towards the secret realm. Naturally, Liu Shunyi joined them without hesitation.

However, just as Liu Shunyi entered the swirling vortex of the secret realm, he felt a force pulling at his body, followed immediately by a sensation of dizziness and disorientation!
