Hearing the call for assembly,
Liu Shunyi hastily left his room and joined a group of disciples heading towards the flying boat’s deck.
Perhaps due to spending too much time recently with Chen Qiaoli,
Liu Shunyi unconsciously lingered at the back of the crowd.
Suddenly, something unexpected caught Liu Shunyi’s attention.
He spotted Chen Qiaoli among the Outer Sect disciples.
Upon seeing her, Liu Shunyi quickly made his way over.
Once beside Chen Qiaoli, he whispered, “Aren’t you from the Inner Sect? Why are you here with the Outer Sect gathering?”
Chen Qiaoli glanced at Liu Shunyi, then looked around cautiously.
Noticing that no one was paying them any heed, she quietly replied,
“I’m technically a provisional Inner Sect member, standing between the Outer and Inner Sects. Considering how perilous this mission to Kangzhuang City is, those from the Inner Sect would be expected to charge ahead, facing only a ninety-seven percent chance of survival. Feeling uncertain about those odds, I decided to assemble with the Outer Sect instead.”
Liu Shunyi remained speechless.
All he could think was, as always, Senior Sister Chen truly lived up to her reputation for cautious pragmatism – nobody could match her in this regard.
They continued chatting casually for a bit longer.
As most people gathered, both Liu Shunyi and Chen Qiaoli fell silent.
The atmosphere had turned quiet, even carrying a somber sense of impending danger.
This mood felt oppressive, which Liu Shunyi greatly disliked. However, there was nothing he could do about it now.
To his surprise, when the leading elder addressed them, they didn’t deliver any motivational speeches or invoke the cause of protecting the people. Instead, the elder cautiously observed the approaching Kangzhuang City.
Approximately thirty miles from Kangzhuang City, the flying boat halted mid-air.
The Qinglian Sect elder spoke once more, “Everyone, disembark!”
Though not loud, their voice clearly reached every disciple’s ears.
Upon hearing the elder’s command, all the disciples instantly prepared to control their swords.
In perfect order, they descended on either side of the flying boat, maintaining discipline.
It was quite a spectacle, reminiscent to Liu Shunyi of orderly locusts descending from the sky – truly awe-inspiring.
Of course, at that moment, Liu Shunyi himself was part of this grand procession.
“Swish… Swish… Swish…”
The disciples descended from the sky on their swords, resembling streaks of light falling from heaven.
As they landed, the glimmers dissipated, revealing individual Qinglian Sect disciples.
Once all the Qinglian Sect disciples touched down,
they did not recall their Flying Swords.
A remarkable sight unfolded before them:
The ground was filled with people, each with their Flying Swords hovering overhead.
It felt like witnessing thousands of swords converging as one.
Liu Shunyi was both awestruck and immensely proud.
“Behold, this is the Eastern artistry of cultivation! Absolutely epic!” His face flushed with excitement, deeply moved by the scene.
What stirred him even more was realizing that he was now part of this grand spectacle.
However, in the next moment, Liu Shunyi’s exhilaration vanished entirely.
For he spotted another swarm approaching, akin to locusts.
As these creatures drew nearer, his eyes widened.
They were Blood Puppets, resembling wild beasts with crimson eyes.
“Attack!”
Suddenly, someone shouted.
The Qinglian Sect disciples once again soared into the sky, colliding with those Blood Puppets.
“Boom… Boom…”
Instantly, deafening explosions echoed throughout the skies.
A chaotic spectacle unfolded, filled with wind, fire, lightning, and a myriad of colorful magic spells clashing relentlessly.
Soon after, corpses began to fall like rain from above.
This first wave of assault lasted merely ten minutes but resulted in countless casualties.
Even more absurdly gruesome was that initially, whole bodies descended; however, as time progressed, only fragmented remains and splattered blood plummeted down.
The scene became increasingly nauseating, reaching unimaginable levels of disgust.
To be honest,
Liu Shunyi, hidden within the cave, trembled fearfully.
It was simply too brutal, excessively bloody, and utterly terrifying.
He had indeed killed a few people since entering the cultivation world, but witnessing human lives treated so casually, deemed worthless, was entirely new to him.
Liu Shunyi made up his mind:
Today, he would not step outside under any circumstances.
He needed some time to acclimate to this brutal reality of the cultivation world.
However, fate had other plans.
For during Qinglian Sect’s first wave assault, they suffered defeat!
“Retreat!” roared an enraged elder from Qinglian Sect.
The remaining survivors instantly controlled their swords, flying towards the direction of the flying boat.
Liu Shunyi followed suit without hesitation.
As soon as he heard the command to retreat, his sword surged forward, leaving behind a blurred trail before disappearing from sight.
Meanwhile, the dense swarm of Blood Puppets was left utterly perplexed.
“What just flew past us?” The group of Blood Puppets looked bewildered.
But swiftly, they shook off their confusion and instead pursued the retreating Outer Sect members of Qinglian Sect with relentless fervor.
Liu Shunyi landed swiftly on the flying boat.
His first sight was Ji Suying and Chen Qiaoli.
Chen Qiaoli appeared composed, her face unchanged.
Ji Suying, however, looked at Liu Shunyi with amusement.
“How was it? Quite thrilling, wasn’t it?”
Liu Shunyi’s face turned pale, but he managed to bow respectfully.
“Senior Sister, please don’t tease me anymore. It truly was terrifying, my first encounter with such a scene!”
Ji Suying laughed heartily.
“Why else would I bring you along if not for some real-world experience?”
She leaned casually against the side of the flying boat, longsword held in hand, gazing into the distance as if filled with contemplation.
“This is just clearing out evil cultivators from one state city; it’s a small affair.”
“In the cultivation world, once secret realms open or when sects engage in large-scale battles, that’s where you’ll witness true grandeur. Only then can you fully grasp the concept of survival of the fittest.”
Suddenly, Ji Suying’s expression turned serious.
“Here they come!” she declared.
Liu Shunyi, puzzled, looked at her quizzically.
Without speaking further, Ji Suying subtly nodded towards a specific direction.
Following her gaze, Liu Shunyi’s entire body trembled intensely.
The Qinglian Sect’s Foundation Establishment disciples took action.
Divided into groups of nine,
there were a total of nine such teams.
Each group simultaneously controlled their Flying Swords, forming spinning Flying Sword Roulettes.
These nine massive roulettes surged towards the Blood Puppets.
Like nine meat-grinding machines,
the roulettes relentlessly cleared away the Blood Puppets.
In their wake, only blood mist remained.
The nine roulettes continuously interweaved and overlapped.
Within less than an hour,
the battlefield was entirely cleansed.
The gruesome spectacle left Liu Shunyi feeling nauseous.
Ji Suying, however, chuckled darkly.
“Junior Brother!”
“Hm?”
“Look at that, quite a long set of intestines from the Blood Puppet!”
“Oh~”
“See, see – those Blood Puppet eyes resemble red gems, but with strands of flesh attached, it’s truly unsightly!”
“Oh…”
“Look…”
Liu Shunyi turned green-faced, retching uncontrollably.
Meanwhile, Ji Suying burst out laughing.
“Junior Brother, you need to toughen up! Let me tell you, the cultivation world is filled with evil cultivators. Some specialize in collecting human skins, others focus on skulls, some even collect…”
As he continued speaking, Ji Suying suddenly sensed something amiss.
Meanwhile, Liu Shunyi’s gaze gradually turned icy.
