Extra Chapter: 5/20

Liu Shunyi and Chen Qiaoli hid in the mountain cave for an entire month.

Naturally, their sustenance was not a concern during this time.

Chen Qiaoli had meticulously prepared ample food supplies beforehand, enough for both of them to last ten years.

The method used to preserve these provisions further showcased the allure of cultivation to Liu Shunyi. With the Frozen Technique, all the food could be kept fresh indefinitely.

Moreover, since the technique utilized spiritual power, the longer the food remained frozen, the more delicious it became upon thawing.

Of course, this depended on the caster’s intent.

What Liu Shunyi found most delightful were the practical minor spells, such as the Cleansing Technique.

With a single use, it would leave one spotlessly clean from head to toe.

Suddenly, Liu Shunyi felt somewhat perplexed.

“If Outer Sect disciples can learn such spells, then why were there still so many dirty clothes when I first arrived?”

Chen Qiaoli burst out laughing.

“That’s because those newly admitted Outer Sect disciples hadn’t yet learned these spells. Until they do, they must rely on regular washing!”

Liu Shunyi fell silent, momentarily at a loss for words.

They continued without speaking further.

Liu Shunyi busied himself with cooking,

while Chen Qiaoli focused on her cultivation.

However, just as Liu Shunyi finished preparing the meal,

Chen Qiaoli conveniently concluded her practice session.

Ah, what a coincidence each time!

Having spent a whole month together in the same cave,

Liu Shunyi and Chen Qiaoli had become quite familiar with each other.

As Liu Shunyi served food to Chen Qiaoli, he asked, “How much longer do we need to stay here?”

Chen Qiaoli skillfully accepted the bowl from Liu Shunyi and replied while eating, “Probably not much longer. Since the Kangzhuang City Lord searched for over a month without finding us, he must have stopped to avoid drawing too much attention, lest it catches the Qinglian Sect’s notice!”

Throughout their conversation, Chen Qiaoli continued to enjoy her meal, unable to resist Liu Shunyi’s culinary skills.

“Of course, the investigation may cease publicly, but I doubt the Kangzhuang City Lord will abandon his search entirely. In fact, he might already be closing in on our trail.”

Liu Shunyi glanced at the Grand Dao Golden Book in his mind, noting only Chen Beiping’s name was present, and shook his head.

“I fear they haven’t yet discovered it’s us.”

Chen Qiaoli became curious. “How do you know that?”

Liu Shunyi scratched his head. “Well, it’s hard to explain; it’s just a feeling!”

With that, he quickly resumed eating.

Chen Qiaoli, still munching, observed Liu Shunyi silently. After spending so much time together, she had gained some understanding of him. He seemed unambitious, almost like an easygoing, good-natured person. Yet, she always felt there was something mysterious about Liu Shunyi.

On several occasions, she secretly administered sleep-inducing drugs to him, hoping to render him unconscious.

Yet, this fellow remained unaffected.

Initially, Chen Qiaoli suspected that her sedative might have expired. She secretly sampled it herself and realized, if not for taking the antidote beforehand, she would have instantly succumbed to its effects.

But Liu Shunyi showed no signs whatsoever.

In fact, she noticed something peculiar: regardless of what task Liu Shunyi performed, he never displayed any fatigue or dissatisfaction.

This guy was truly strange.

However, upon further thought, Chen Qiaoli found it unsurprising. After all, how many individuals deemed worthy by Ji Suying could be considered ordinary?

After finishing their meal, they acted like a married couple:

Chen Qiaoli washed dishes,

Liu Shunyi swept the floor.

Once everything was cleaned up,

Liu Shunyi leisurely counted ants,

while Chen Qiaoli practiced cultivation.

Suddenly,

Liu Shunyi sprang to his feet, his expression turning grim.

A new name had appeared on his Grand Dao Golden Book:

“Shi Changxin, mid-grade purple!”

Immediately following this, the cave began to shake violently.

Chen Qiaoli instantly went on high alert.

“Someone is breaking through the array!”

Without hesitation,

Chen Qiaoli grabbed Liu Shunyi and swiftly moved.

To Liu Shunyi’s surprise, despite living in the cave for so long, he had never noticed a hidden door.

Without exchanging any words,

they sprinted through the cave.

After an unknown period of time,

they finally spotted light ahead.

Liu Shunyi was about to dash out,

but Chen Qiaoli quickly stopped him.

“Hold on, let me check the situation outside first!”

With that,

Chen Qiaoli took out a small cloth pouch.

She opened it, recited a few incantations,

and Liu Shunyi watched as two tiny insects flew from the pouch.

After approximately ten minutes,

the small insect flew back.

Chen Qiaoli finally sighed with relief.

“No danger, let’s go!”

Liu Shunyi instinctively raised his thumb and exclaimed,
“Senior Sister, impressive!”

Smiling broadly, Chen Qiaoli reciprocated with a thumbs-up.

They swiftly emerged from their hiding spot.

However, upon surfacing,

Liu Shunyi found himself surrounded by old pigs, feeling somewhat bewildered.

“Wow, Senior Sister, did you dig our way into a pigsty?”

Chen Qiaoli stepped out behind Liu Shunyi, laughing, “No self-respecting person would inspect a commoner’s pigsty; it’s the safest approach.”

Liu Shunyi was taken aback.

With a loud clang, an elderly woman witnessing Liu Shunyi and Chen Qiaoli emerging from the pigsty froze like a statue. Her iron pot involuntarily slipped from her hands and crashed to the ground.

Chen Qiaoli instantly flashed before the old woman.

She quickly administered a Medicine Pill, rendered the woman unconscious, and placed her inside a nearby room.

“All done, let’s move on!”

Liu Shunyi nodded affirmatively.

Three more days passed.

Liu Shunyi, guided by Chen Qiaoli, constantly moved from place to place.

Whenever they encountered people, they swiftly hid.

If meeting other Cultivators, they avoided unnecessary conversations at all costs.

Even if it was someone from Qinglian Sect, they pretended not to recognize them.

Naturally, Liu Shunyi followed Chen Qiaoli’s lead. As a servant, his primary task during this mission was simply to carry supplies. He didn’t question anything beyond that role.

However, Chen Qiaoli felt uneasy.

“I can’t shake the feeling that something isn’t right.”

Liu Shunyi’s expression turned serious.

“What do you mean?”

Chen Qiaoli crossed her arms, resting one hand on her chin.

“A Golden Core Cultivator searching for us? No matter how cautious I’ve been, there must be some traces left behind. Even our escape seemed too effortless; I suspect it might be a trap.”

Unnoticed, Liu Shunyi discreetly stabbed himself twice more in the side.

Huanhe cleared his throat and suggested, “Could it be possible that the Kangzhuang City Lord was preoccupied with some other matter, allowing us to escape unnoticed?”

Chen Qiaoli pondered for a moment.

“It’s plausible, but regardless, we must swiftly return to the sect and report what happened at Kangzhuang City!”

Liu Shunyi nodded in agreement.

Just as they were about to leave, however, a figure suddenly blocked their path.

It was none other than Ji Suying.

“The sect is already aware of the events in Kangzhuang City. As for you two, get ready; you’ll have your hands full.”

Chen Qiaoli and Liu Shunyi exchanged glances, both displaying identical expressions of disbelief – like they had just witnessed something utterly absurd.

Ji Suying paused briefly before clearing her throat.

“Cough, cough, this is a mission assigned by the sect. Since you’re both here, it’s perfect timing for your involvement.” With that, Ji Suying turned around. “Follow me!”

Liu Shunyi and Chen Qiaoli looked at each other, feeling somewhat helpless.
