The scholar, Liu Shunyi’s first friend in the cultivation world, was named Zhao Qing.

Together, they had joined the Green Lotus Sect at the same time.

Unfortunately,

Liu Shunyi became a servant disciple,

while Zhao Qing, lacking a Spirit Root, opened a shop at the marketplace below Qinglian Mountain.

Despite this, Liu Shunyi found the scholar quite mysterious.

How so?

Well, regardless of what you sought, the scholar seemed to have it all. If one could imagine it, he possessed it without fail.

After completing their transaction, the scholar didn’t rush to leave. The reason? To enjoy a free meal.

The scholar himself wasn’t stingy either, offering fine wine and delicious dishes generously.

While Liu Shunyi ate, the scholar busied himself revising his annotations on the Analects.

As Liu Shunyi observed, he was genuinely surprised.

For the scholar’s new annotations were truly insightful interpretations of the Analects.

Impressive!

This scholar indeed held vast scholarly knowledge.

Having completed his revised annotations, Zhao Qing looked highly satisfied.

“This is an exceptional book, encompassing myriad subjects, even revealing profound truths!”

With these words, Zhao Qing glanced again at Liu Shunyi’s original annotations and suddenly scratched his head.

“If you think about it carefully, there’s really nothing to criticize in these annotations!” Liu Shunyi chuckled.

“Indeed, interpretation depends on practical application and context; different situations call for distinct meanings!” Zhao Qing felt enlightened.

He then gave Liu Shunyi a grateful look. “Many thanks for clarifying my doubts!”

Liu Shunyi waved his hand dismissively. “I just stumbled upon the right answer by chance. In terms of knowledge, I truly can’t match up to you!”

Zhao Qing smiled, choosing not to dwell further on the topic.

However, observing Liu Shunyi, he became quite curious. “It seems you’ve had some remarkable encounters lately. You’re already nearing the Qi Refining Sixth Layer!”

Liu Shunyi laughed heartily. “Let’s not talk about me now. Are you sure you’re just an ordinary person? How could an ordinary individual survive in this cultivation world’s market?”

Zhao Qing didn’t hide the truth. “Actually, during that talent assessment, I did possess a Spirit Root. However, it was attributeless, and the disciple conducting the test misunderstood, thinking I had no Spirit Root at all!”

Liu Shunyi was taken aback.

Having read numerous cultivation novels, he knew well that possessing a Spirit Root without any specific attribute was…

Liu Shunyi’s eyes widened abruptly.

“You don’t mean you have a void spiritual root, do you?!”

Zhao Qing nodded.

“Indeed, it is a void spiritual root, and now I’m already at Qi Refining Twelve Layer.”

Liu Shunyi felt torn between conflicting emotions.

It was true; he feared for his brother’s struggles but also worried about being left behind while his friend secretly thrived.

Now, Liu Shunyi finally experienced this dilemma firsthand.

“Well, well! You’ve been keeping secrets from me!” Liu Shunyi couldn’t help feeling a bit envious.

Zhao Qing smiled.

“The most significant thing is, when leaving the Qinglian Sect, I found a pearl on my journey. After attempting to refine it, guess what happened?”

Liu Shunyi remained silent, attentively watching Zhao Qing.

With a chuckle, Zhao Qing continued.

“After breaking through one layer of seals, I discovered mountains of spirit herbs, Cultivation Techniques, Magic Spells, and even various tool refinement materials, although all were suited for the Qi Refining Stage.”

“So, right now, I truly lack Spirit Stones. With enough Spirit Stones, I could refine the second seal. Therefore, dear brother, can I borrow some temporarily?

“In return, once the second seal is broken, I’ll share half of its contents with you!”

Without hesitation, Liu Shunyi handed over all his Spirit Stones.

“Take them! But remember, if there are valuable items within the second seal, prioritize enhancing your strength first. Your power ensures I have a strong ally to rely on!”

Zhao Qing nodded appreciatively.

Since arriving in this world, Liu Shunyi had few people he trusted completely. Zhao Qing was one of them. It was inevitable; as a novice transmigrator thrust into a ruthless, cutthroat environment, without Zhao Qing’s help, Liu Shunyi would likely have perished countless times. Their bond transcended life itself.

Zhao Qing, likewise, did not hesitate to assist Liu Shunyi.

By evening, after learning the concealment technique, Liu Shunyi hid his cultivation at Qi Refining Second Layer before leaving Zhao Qing’s residence.

As he departed, Zhao Qing heard that Liu Shunyi intended to practice alchemy and generously gave him nearly all the spirit herbs from within his pearl.

Liu Shunyi did not refuse the offer.

Zhao Qing, eyeing the opportunity, exclaimed,
“Good brother, when you have Medicine Pills ready, sell them through me! We’ll split the profits fifty-fifty!”

It was a fair proposal, and Liu Shunyi readily agreed.

Additionally, Zhao Qing gifted Liu Shunyi a set of flexible armor and an exceptional longsword Magic Artifact.

Feeling incredibly grateful, Liu Shunyi almost levitated with excitement on the spot.

However, it was unfortunate that Zhao Qing couldn’t provide any magic spells or Cultivation Techniques, explaining they could only be comprehended intuitively, not taught verbally.

Liu Shunyi waved his hand dismissively.
“It doesn’t matter; I’m already in Qinglian Sect. Sooner or later, I’ll learn those spells and techniques anyway. Just remember to be cautious – possessing valuable knowledge can invite danger, as you well know.”

Zhao Qing nodded earnestly.
“Don’t worry, I understand my limits!”

With that, Liu Shunyi headed towards Qinglian Mountain.

After Liu Shunyi left, Zhao Qing sighed deeply.
“What astonishing comprehension! He grasps magic spells with just one glance and masters them completely in a single day!”

Zhao Qing fell silent for a moment.

Finally, he picked up the pearl, intending to use some of its stored magic spells and divine abilities. However, no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t access them.

“That’s strange. It seems whenever I want to give something to Liu Shunyi, I can’t extract it, but if it’s for myself, it’s effortless!” Puzzled, Zhao Qing looked up towards the sky.

This descent from the mountain had proven immensely fruitful for Liu Shunyi.

His Storage Bag now overflowed with spirit herbs, amassing virtually like a mountain. Although mostly consisting of basic medicinal plants, they were more than sufficient for him to practice and hone his alchemy skills.

If he truly mastered the art of alchemy, his future prospects would skyrocket. With this knowledge, he wouldn’t fear pill toxicity nor worry about destabilizing his cultivation foundation while using Medicine Pills.

Instead, any adverse effects could be effortlessly transferred onto his enemies.

Speaking of enemies, Liu Shunyi found himself puzzled.

“The extermination at Qinglian Mine was carried out by a powerful figure from Qinglian Sect, instigated by that Zhao Gou. No matter how I look at it, I wasn’t involved. So why does Zhang Beiping want me dead?” Liu Shunyi couldn’t comprehend the rationale behind it.

Of course, understanding or not didn’t really matter. Now that his name was inscribed in the Grand Dao Golden Book, Liu Shunyi held no fears regarding Chen Beiping.

What genuinely concerned him was the possibility of someone killing him twice within seconds. After all, those three-second intervals felt agonizingly long.

Currently, his top priority was mastering alchemy and enhancing his strength.

With this thought, Liu Shunyi involuntarily quickened his pace, feeling an urgent need to act swiftly. Having amassed considerable wealth, he yearned to put it to immediate use.

However, as he walked, Liu Shunyi suddenly furrowed his brow, gradually slowing down. Five figures clad in black had appeared around him.

Liu Shunyi’s eyes narrowed slightly, circulating spiritual power throughout his body. Faint arcs of lightning began swirling around him.
