Thanks to My Enemy, I Become Immortal Emperor - Chapter 120
The old man dared not utter another word.
Already frail like a candle flickering in the wind, with his body severely weakened, he faced Zhao Gou’s menacing muscles and the Nascent Soul aura emanating from him. The thought of engaging in combat didn’t even cross his mind.
“Of course it counts, I never said it didn’t!” the old man replied grimly.
However, he quickly changed tack.
“But right now, I cannot open the passage to Giant God City for you. The timing is not yet appropriate; forcing it open prematurely would be a death sentence.”
Hearing this, Zhao Gou’s expression softened slightly.
He then retrieved a set of clothes from his space ring and dressed himself once more. With his attire restored, Zhao Gou appeared refined and even somewhat benevolent.
“Oh, I see!”
Zhao Gou glanced down at the old man’s newly healed leg.
“Try taking a few steps, let me observe!”
Old Man: “???”
“You see, I’ve just recently comprehended this medical divine ability, so there’s much experimentation needed to identify any shortcomings.”
The old man took a deep breath.
No way.
You’re inexperienced, yet you dare to treat my ailment?
Despite his dissatisfaction, upon seeing a menacing wolf-toothed club appear in Zhao Gou’s hand, the old man obediently complied.
He cautiously attempted to take a few steps.
Surprisingly, there was no sign of rejection.
Even more astonishingly, this new leg seemed to possess greater strength than his original one.
The old man fell into thoughtful silence.
Meanwhile, Zhao Gou took out a brush, observing the old man’s movements closely while jotting down notes and pondering aloud.
“Hmm, aside from a slightly peculiar gait, there are no signs of rejection.”
“The strength appears stronger compared to the other leg. Ah, a perfect success!”
The old man grew puzzled as he noticed his canine companion munching on something. He couldn’t help but smacked his lips.
“Why can I taste what it’s eating?”
Zhao Gou’s eyes widened with surprise. “Really?”
The old man nodded affirmatively.
Zhao Gou glanced at the dog and then fed it a small, dark-colored morsel. The dog eagerly devoured it, much to the old man’s discomfort.
“What did you give him? It tastes so foul!”
Zhao Gou looked taken aback. “You find it foul?”
The old man’s face turned green with disgust.
Zhao Gou began muttering to himself:
“From initial observations, splitting the soul indeed creates some strange connections. However, these links don’t seem to share sensory experiences or physical vitality. Nonetheless, I believe there is room for improvement in this aspect.”
Confused, the old man asked, “What do your words mean exactly?”
Zhao Gou proceeded to explain further.
“Here’s the thing, old buddy,” Zhao Gou explained, “while treating him, I discovered that his soul had long been depleted. To fully heal him, it required infusing soul energy. So, I took a piece of your soul and used it to reignite his spiritual fire.”
The old man looked at Zhao Gou with a mix of fear and confusion.
“What path of cultivation do you follow?”
Zhao Gou frowned.
“How hard is it to tell? I specialize in medical arts!”
The old man took a deep breath.
“People often say doctors have compassionate hearts, but look at what you’ve done! And how come you’re so familiar with souls? It feels like you’re damn well cultivating on Yama’s path!”
Zhao Gou was taken aback, expression shifting rapidly.
“You noticed all that?”
The old man stared, astonished.
Waiting always felt unbearably tedious.
Despite this, Liu Shunyi remained highly curious about these so-called “God’s Resenments.”
“Old man, can you capture one of those God’s Resenments for me to examine?”
The old man fell silent.
Seeing his silence, Liu Shunyi sighed.
“No matter how much of a genius you were before, being imprisoned here for years, haven’t you at least discovered something interesting?”
The old man furrowed his brow.
“Naturally, I’ve conducted research. However, the ultimate conclusion was that Giant God City is truly terrifying, and I am but a mere ant within it.”
Liu Shunyi awaited further elaboration from the old man.
But no additional information forthcoming.
Liu Shunyi felt somewhat disappointed.
“Just that?”
The old man shrugged helplessly.
“What else could I do? Being suppressed here makes me akin to a slave; there’s nothing more I can accomplish!”
A sudden question crossed Liu Shunyi’s mind.
“To whom are you enslaved?”
The old man陷入沉默一时。一时陷入了沉默。
Even Liu Shunyi wasn’t entirely sure whose slave he was himself, seeing that the old man couldn’t provide a clear explanation.
Liu Shunyi couldn’t help but shake his head.
“No wonder you, as a Sect Master, were falsely accused and met your demise by those treacherous individuals. You truly lack wit; after so many years, you still fail to understand your predicament.”
The old man turned red with embarrassment, unable to find any words to counter Liu Shunyi’s criticism.
After all, Liu Shunyi had unraveled his entire life story within mere minutes.
Continuing his questioning, Liu Shunyi asked, “When you say it’s not yet time for entering Giant God City, is it due to the God’s Resenment?”
The old man nodded. “Yes, currently, the God’s Resenment is at its peak. Even with the Heavenly Fire Lamp, it might not be enough protection.”
Liu Shunyi’s eyes lit up. “Then open the secret realm’s entrance just slightly, let me witness this God’s Resenment!”
The old man’s eyes widened in shock. “No, absolutely not! That would be suicide. Of course, whether you live or die doesn’t matter much to me right now, but I certainly don’t want to die.”
Liu Shunyi explained with a smile, “Don’t worry, I just want to witness it briefly; I won’t enter. Rest assured, everything is under my control.”
To convince the old man further, Liu Shunyi solemnly swore and even drew the Azure Wandering Sword, placing it gently at the old man’s neck.
The old man hesitated…
Finally, he relented.
With a series of hand seals, he channeled his magical energy.
The entire cave began to tremble.
Soon, the stones rearranged themselves, forming a narrow passageway.
As soon as the passage opened,
“Boom!”
A crimson ghost face, dripping with blood, rushed directly towards Liu Shunyi.
Liu Shunyi felt somewhat perplexed upon seeing the ghost face.
Meanwhile, the old man, terrified, hid in a corner, shivering uncontrollably. His lips quivered incessantly, muttering, “Finished, finished! We’re truly doomed now!”
But in the very next moment, the old man was utterly dumbfounded.
He watched as Liu Shunyi casually extended his hand, effortlessly grabbing the ghost face.
Then, with a look of horror on the old man’s face, Liu Shunyi parted his lips.
“Whoosh…”
Like slurping noodles, Liu Shunyi effortlessly consumed the ghost mask.
The old man stared in disbelief!
Liu Shunyi then smacked his lips thoughtfully before reaching out again.
“Whoosh~”
He captured another ghost mask, and with a burst of flames, swiftly refined it into a Medicine Pill.
Liu Shunyi handed the pill to the old man.
“For you, as a reward.”
The old man accepted the Medicine Pill, swallowing nervously.
He looked at Liu Shunyi and asked, “Are you Yama himself? How can you be so adept at soul refinement?”
Liu Shunyi blinked innocently with his large eyes.
“Is it that obvious?”
The old man was utterly speechless!
