There was one more thing.

As the healer observed the scene before him, he felt an eerie sense of familiarity.

It seemed eerily similar to what had happened with Shen Kaiyang earlier.

His meridians shattered, rendering him inexplicably crippled.

The crucial issue was that upon examining Shen Kaiyang, it had ended disastrously with an explosion.

At this thought, the healer involuntarily swallowed hard.

“Um, my sincere apologies, but my skills are not yet proficient enough to address his condition!”

Qin Shaogong’s expression darkened.

This healer was renowned as the most skilled in the area. If even he couldn’t provide treatment, there would be no second option within Qing Shui City.

Qin Shaogong bowed once again.

“Senior Brother Zhao, rest assured, regardless of the required medicinal ingredients or costs involved, we can afford them!”

The healer chuckled dryly.

Even members of the Inner Sect, like Lin Qinghe, lacked remedies for completely severed meridians.

How could mere Outer Sect disciples possibly afford such treatments?

Despite these thoughts, the healer produced a prescription anyway.

Upon receiving it, Qin Shaogong realized just how recklessly he had spoken earlier! He felt deeply embarrassed.

“Uh, might there be any lower-quality alternatives available?”

Upon hearing this,

the healer shuddered.

The familiar scent and pattern… Did it mean another explosion was imminent?

Feeling uneasy, the healer hastily rose to his feet.

“Apologies, but there truly aren’t any alternatives!” he exclaimed.

As soon as he made to leave, Qin Shaogong intercepted him with an icy gaze.

“Oh, no alternatives at all?”

Realizing the implication, the healer knew that unless he provided a satisfactory explanation, he might not make it out of this room alive.

With a sigh, Zhao Gou responded, “There genuinely aren’t any substitutes. If I had known replacements, why would I keep them hidden? You should be well aware of my character, Mr. Qin!”

His words were sincere.

Zhao Gou indeed embodied the compassionate heart of a true healer, striving to alleviate suffering across the land, which is why he chose to specialize in medical cultivation.

Moreover, if Zhao Gou were to perish by their hands, it would be highly detrimental for them.

Recognizing this, Qin Shaogong quickly put on a conciliatory smile.

“Well, actually, here’s the thing: Recently, I’ve been feeling somewhat unwell myself. Could you kindly take a look, Mister Zhao?”

Zhao Gou examined Qin Shaogong from head to toe, internally sighing.

He’s trying to save face here!

Since that was the case, Zhao Gou decided to help him maintain dignity.

With this realization, Zhao Gou nodded.

“Extend your arm!”

Qin Shaogong obediently complied.

Zhao Gou began to feel his pulse.

“Hmm, indeed, there’s some qi deficiency, excessive loss of vital energy, and also…”

“Boom…”

Before Zhao Gou could finish, Qin Shaogong suddenly exploded.

Zhao Gou found himself still holding onto the detached arm, completely stunned at the scene before him.

Zhang Junbao, lying on the bed and watching everything unfold, widened his eyes in shock.

Rigidly turning towards Zhang Junbao, Zhao Gou forced a smile, unaware that he was covered in blood, standing against the sunlight, with a bloody arm in hand. This grin looked utterly terrifying.

To make matters worse, Zhao Gou slowly started approaching Zhang Junbao.

“Breathe…breathe… Y-you, stay away!” Zhang Junbao trembled in fear.

“Sav-”

Zhao Gou hastily covered Zhang Junbao’s mouth.

“Don’t scream, seriously! I just want to explain; it’s all a misunderstanding, do you believe me?!”

Faced with his own survival, Zhang Junbao could only nod reluctantly.

Zhao Gou let out a sigh of relief.

“Alright, then I’ll remove my hand, but don’t shout!”

Zhang Junbao nodded again.

However, as soon as Zhao Gou’s hand moved away, Zhang Junbao attempted to scream once more.

Quickly, Zhao Gou covered his mouth again.

“I’ve already told you, don’t shout! This truly is a misunderstanding. How about this: if you promise not to tell anyone about this incident, I’ll do my best to heal you. Deal?”

Suddenly, Zhang Junbao began trembling uncontrollably.

In an instant, the spiritual power within his body was rapidly drained.

Eventually, he turned into a desiccated corpse right before Zhao Gou’s eyes.

Terrified, Zhao Gou stumbled backward.

He stared at his hands, then looked at the scattered remains and the dried-up corpse that had been Zhang Junbao.

His mind shattered completely.

“N-no, damn it, I didn’t mean for this to happen!” Zhao Gou started sobbing.

The next morning at dawn.

The Green Lotus Sect buzzed with excitement.

A certain individual had become renowned overnight.

Zhao Gou, the healer.

Rumors spread that Zhao Gou personally eliminated two spies within the Green Lotus Sect yesterday.

His methods were truly terrifying.

This incident also revealed a stark truth to everyone in the sect:

Healers were not just adept at curing illnesses and saving lives.

When it came to killing, they could be equally horrifying.

It was said that one spy was dismembered into minced meat, while the other turned directly into a desiccated corpse.

Liu Shunyi, having little to do lately, found himself idle. Despite his diligent cultivation efforts, he noticed minimal progress. Thus, like Passerby A, he joined the crowd to witness the commotion.

As he listened to people talk about Zhao Gou, Liu Shunyi was greatly astonished.

“Wow, can a physician really be that fearsome?”

Nearby, another disciple chimed in, “Absolutely! You missed it, but I saw those bodies – tsk tsk, it was brutally intense.”

Several disciples expressed their admiration as well.

“You might not know this, but Senior Brother Zhao was covered in blood, clearly indicating he engaged in a fierce battle with those spies. What I truly admire is his noble character.”

Liu Shunyi’s interest piqued.

He quickly grabbed a handful of sunflower seeds and offered them to the senior disciple beside him, curiously asking, “How so?”

The senior disciple didn’t hesitate.

They started munching on the seeds while continuing their conversation.

“Here’s what you missed – when the sect elders wanted to reward Senior Brother Zhao, he declined outright. He even refused to let them record his merits! Isn’t that a display of remarkable integrity?”

“However, they ended up recording his merits by force. Rumor has it, the Sect Master intends to bestow upon him the title of Honorary Elder!”

“We’re here today just to witness the true appearance of the new Honorary Elder!”

Liu Shunyi nodded involuntarily.

“Indeed, such individuals as Senior Brother Zhao are rare in today’s cultivation world!”

“Oh, right, how significant were the spies Zhao Gou eliminated for him to be named an Honorary Elder?”

Liu Shunyi felt quite intrigued.

At that moment, someone knowledgeable whispered an explanation nearby.

“You might not know this, but the two individuals Senior Brother Zhao eliminated were named Zhang Junbao and Qin Shaogong. Although their combat abilities weren’t impressive, their positions were significant.”

“I heard they were connected to the Qinglian Mine. The sect elders followed the trail and immediately sealed off the entire mine.”

“And guess what happened next? It turned out nearly eighty percent of those at the Qinglian Mine were spies! It had become a den for traitors, infiltrating even our mining operations!”

“Can you imagine how immense Zhao Gou’s contribution truly is?”

Liu Shunyi was left speechless.

“Here he comes! Senior Brother Zhao is emerging!” someone shouted.

Everyone promptly stood up, craning their necks to watch.

Liu Shunyi joined the crowd, lifting his gaze along with them.

At that moment, Zhao Gou appeared, dressed in the robes of an Honorary Elder, his face contorted as if enduring great discomfort, reminiscent of a dog enjoying the sun too much.

Seeing Zhao Gou’s expression, Liu Shunyi couldn’t help but feel amused.
