- Chapter 101 - I'm Not a Demon, You Know
“This is quite intriguing,” Liu Shunyi chuckled.
Zhao Gou furrowed his brow.
“The actions of the Heaven Wrath Temple seem illogical and even somewhat peculiar.”
Even as he observed the individuals targeted by the Heaven Wrath Temple, Zhao Gou felt deeply puzzled.
“Hunting talented prodigies makes sense to me, but why target worthless individuals, expelled clan members, or mere beggars?”
Liu Shunyi smiled.
“Is it possible that the Heaven Wrath Temple knows their futures?”
Zhao Gou’s eyes widened.
“Do they have fortune-telling abilities?”
Liu Shunyi shook his head.
“If fortune-tellers could predict secret realms’ entrances or top-tier treasures within them, wouldn’t this world be dominated by fortune-tellers?”
Zhao Gou pondered for a moment.
“So, does someone from the Heaven Wrath Temple actually see the future?”
Liu Shunyi considered briefly.
“In a way, yes. However, if my guess is correct, they don’t just see the future; they likely grasp specific details of upcoming events. I suspect the Heaven Wrath Temple members have far more knowledge than we initially thought.”
Zhao Gou looked at Liu Shunyi with astonishment.
“Then wouldn’t the Heaven Wrath Temple be incredibly terrifying!”
Liu Shunyi glanced at the intelligence report in his hand and then back at Zhao Gou.
“How can you suggest that the Heaven Wrath Temple isn’t terrifying?”
Zhao Gou fell silent for a moment before noticing a crucial detail.
“Well, not entirely. For instance, the destruction of Qin Province’s Heaven Wrath Temple was unknown to them. This suggests that the Heaven Wrath Temple might not be as divine as we imagined.”
Liu Shunyi felt somewhat speechless.
Weren’t transmigrators typically surrounded by people of lower intellect? That way, their own genius would truly shine through. What happened here?
Whether it was the enemies he faced or the friends around him, each one seemed unnaturally intelligent!
Liu Shunyi sighed.
“You…” Before he could finish,
Zhao Gou interrupted again.
“Even with divine Precognition, it wouldn’t be this detailed. To the point where they believed and specifically targeted a dog.”
“No ordinary being could possess such intricate knowledge; thus, the mastermind behind the Heaven Wrath Temple is likely an Immortal.”
At this thought, Zhao Gou shook his head once more.
“But that’s also improbable. While there are Immortal Grottos in this world, they merely contain artifacts left behind by Immortals before their ascension.”
“The cultivation realm has its fair share of powerful beings, and if there were any significant secrets, they would have been uncovered long ago. However, we cannot entirely rule out the possibility of some deranged Immortal meddling.”
Liu Shunyi smiled.
“Have you considered the idea that someone might have crossed the time river, returning to our era?”
Zhao Gou’s eyes widened again. He glanced back at the intelligence report, suddenly finding everything plausible.
“What should we do now?”
Liu Shunyi looked at the shadow guard. “Has all evidence of the Heaven Wrath Temple in Qin Province been thoroughly erased?”
The shadow guard nodded. “Completely clean.”
Liu Shunyi acknowledged with a sound of approval.
“That’s good. For now, do nothing. Even if the Heaven Wrath Temple returns to Qin Province, refrain from taking any action.”
The shadow guard nodded.
Zhao Gou scratched his head, puzzled.
“If what you say is true, and someone has indeed crossed the time river to reach this era, it would be difficult not to suspect involvement of the Yama Palace deity based on their deductions. Are we really going to sit idly by?”
Liu Shunyi shook his head.
“It’s not that we’re doing absolutely nothing; rather, we must avoid interfering with the Heaven Wrath Temple directly.”
Zhao Gou remained unconvinced. “Why? I feel like we should eliminate them one by one as they appear.”
Liu Shunyi sighed.
“Can you open the secret realm yourself?”
Zhao Gou hesitated, unable to respond.
“The method to open the secret realm still lies with the Heaven Wrath Temple. If we disrupt their plans, won’t the secret realm remain inaccessible forever?”
“Of course, some information needs to be disseminated. For instance, spreading intel about how members of the Heaven Wrath Temple know how to unlock the secret realm, or even revealing hints about their location. Trust me, others will take care of the Heaven Wrath Temple.”
Zhao Gou nodded.
At that moment, the shadow guard stepped forward and handed two space rings to Liu Shunyi and Zhao Gou.
Upon receiving them, both were momentarily stunned.
“Such a vast amount of resources?” Liu Shunyi exclaimed, astonished.
The quantity exceeded even what he had harvested from his previous secret realm expeditions.
“Yes, please distribute these among the Yama Palace members. For now, we’ll keep one portion each.”
The shadow guard seemed slightly embarrassed.
“Um, Lord Yamas, we…we require large quantities of blood pills and Divine Soul Pills!”
Liu Shunyi and Zhao Gou exchanged puzzled looks.
Feeling compelled, the shadow guard explained once more why they needed these specific types of medicine pills.
After hearing the explanation, disbelief was written all over Liu Shunyi’s face.
“Uh, there are still blood pills and Divine Soul Pills left in the storage, right?”
The shadow guard nodded.
“Yes, but only about seventy percent remain.”
Liu Shunyi swallowed hard, feeling somewhat parched.
“First, distribute the remaining blood pills from the storage. Once the secret realm opens, I’ll provide you with additional blood pills and Divine Soul Pills!”
The shadow guard beamed with joy.
“Many thanks to both lords.”
With these words, the delighted shadow guard departed, naturally heading to collect the blood and Divine Soul Pills.
After the shadow guard left, Liu Shunyi glanced at Zhao Gou.
“Can we still extract from those Heavenly God Cult members?”
Zhao Gou shook his head.
“No, their livers were overworked last time, leading to a shrinkage of their spleens. Now, all Heavenly God Cult disciples exhibit signs of anemia.”
Liu Shunyi recalled this as well.
Indeed, the Heavenly God Cult’s name had begun turning a faint golden hue.
Liu Shunyi sighed.
“How about this then? The Heaven Wrath Temple will surely return to Qin Province, right?”
Zhao Gou nodded affirmatively.
“When they do, have the Yama Palace capture them alive, and we’ll draw their blood!”
In a hushed tone, Zhao Gou asked, “Didn’t you say we shouldn’t touch the Heaven Wrath Temple for now?”
Liu Shunyi sighed again.
“I can’t just randomly extract people’s blood or divine souls; I’m not a demon after all.”
Zhao Gou’s face twitched; he felt there was something off about this suggestion but couldn’t immediately pinpoint what it was.
Suddenly, Liu Shunyi’s eyes lit up. “I have a plan, would you like to hear it?”
Zhao Gou looked at Liu Shunyi with suspicion.
Liu Shunyi waved his hand, gesturing for Zhao Gou to lean in closer.
Slowly, Zhao Gou moved nearer.
At that moment, Liu Shunyi began explaining his idea.
“I possess a type of medicine pill called Sorrow Forgetting Pills. When we extract their blood and divine souls, you can heal them afterward. Then, make them consume these Sorrow Forgetting Pills before releasing them. Later, under the guise of medical treatment, inform them they have poor spleen health and advise them on specific remedies. Once they recover, we’ll continue extracting from them.”
Zhao Gou’s mouth dropped open wide.
“What did you just say?”
Confused, Liu Shunyi stared back.
Zhao Gou reminded him, “Didn’t you say you’re not a demon?”
