Chapter 8: The Saint of Southern Border Obsessed with Gu Poison 8

Lu Yi lay on the couch, the sweat on his forehead long dried, yet sleep remained elusive.

If the salt grains dissolved in his blood weren’t thoroughly cleaned, his wounds would likely fester by tomorrow.

The man rose and left the bamboo house alone.

As early as the first day of his captivity, his instincts as a Swift Feather Guard had driven him to explore every accessible corner of the valley.

Rosy Valley was surrounded by mountains, with a lake at the southern foot—perfect for cleansing his wounds.

After walking for roughly the time it takes an incense stick to burn, Lu Yi could already see the glimmering reflections dancing on the lake’s surface in the distance.

A breeze swept across the lake, carrying faint notes of a flute into Lu Yi’s ears.

Unlike the malevolent tunes the devil used during torture, this melody was gentle and soothing, like a caressing wind.

But regardless of whether the flutist was Xie Rong, he needed to tend to his wounds.

Lu Yi continued forward until he reached the lakeshore, then instinctively glanced sideways.

Beneath a crooked, withered tree by the lake, a pair of wooden clogs lay carelessly discarded. A youth adorned in silver ornaments, dark hair cascading over his shoulders, sat barefoot on the tree branch, playing the flute with downcast eyes.

A massive black serpent coiled around the trunk, nuzzling its head against the youth’s shoulder in a gentle rub.

Lu Yi had encountered this python before—at the bottom of the Five Venoms Cave, where it had nearly bitten him off the cave wall. Vicious and ruthless, it displayed unexpected docility around Xie Rong, likely the Gu King of Rosy Valley.

Yesterday, another Vice Envoy of the Vanguard Eagle Office had delivered a secret message: the Drug slaves in the valley were implanted with the most savage Gu poison from the Southern Border.

These Gu originated from the Saint of Southern Border, and only the blood of the Gu King could antidote them.

Lu Yi averted his gaze and moved further along the shore. Crouching by the water, he cleaned his wounds, then bent down to scoop a handful of water to wash his face.

Suddenly, a hand gripped the nape of his neck, forcefully shoving his head into the lake.

Xie Rong looked down, coldly observing the man’s disheveled state. He tilted his head slightly. Ignoring me? It seems your mind isn’t clear. Let me help you.

The water erupted into turbulence as the sturdy man effortlessly broke free from the restraint. In one swift motion, he seized Xie Rong’s wrist and yanked him into the lake.

Xie Rong’s eyes widened in disbelief—no one in Rosy Valley had ever dared defy him.

Shock and fury surged through him. His wooden clogs were swept away by the water, leaving him barefoot as he kicked at the man. But he couldn’t swim, and even though the water wasn’t deep, survival instinct made him cling to the man’s shoulders.

The youth’s hands were soft and boneless, slick from the water like slippery serpents twining around the man’s body.

Lu Yi pinned Xie Rong’s thighs with his knees, one broad hand supporting the youth’s waist to prevent him from sinking. His brows furrowed as he stared intently, lost in thought.

After a moment, the man reached out, his rough thumb brushing over the faint crimson crescent on Xie Rong’s cheekbone. He paused. It’s not painted on?Such an alluring birthmark—it seemed naturally crafted to beguile men.

Of course, except for him.

He was merely under the devil’s Gu spell, losing control against his will.

Vile dog! Worthless slave! Xie Rong’s eyes reddened with rage at the corners. He slapped the man across the face, forgetting to play his flute to command the Gu insects, and instead wrapped both hands around Lu Yi’s neck, disregarding his own inability to swim. Die! Die!

But the man stood immovable as iron, only his eyelids flushing crimson and veins bulging on his forehead as he stared unblinkingly at the youth.

Perhaps it was the Gu poison taking effect—even the devil’s curses and tantrums seemed enchantingly alluring in his eyes.

Were it not for the Gu worms acting up, how could he harbor such thoughts toward a wicked demon who treated human life as worthless?

Xie Rong met his gaze and curved his lips. Lu Yi, are you suffering? Do you feel worms crawling in your chest?

Ordinary Gu worms wouldn’t crawl around in one’s chest, but Xie Rong had been reading many books about same-sex relationships these past few days.

He remembered very clearly that when men with same-sex inclinations became intimate with other men, they would feel worms crawling in their chests.

Lu Yi said, So you really did plant Gu worms in me.

Xie Rong draped himself over Lu Yi’s shoulder and chuckled lightly, not bothering to conceal the malice in his eyes. My favorite thing to do is torment virtuous people like you who love punishing evil.

Your pain brings me joy.

As he spoke, Xie Rong’s hand on the man’s shoulder moved to wrap around his neck instead. He lifted his head and brushed his lips against the man’s. I may be utterly wicked, but what does that make you after sharing such intimacy with me?

Tell me… if those people in Shangyun Capital saw you like this with me, how could you ever pretend to be virtuous again? The more Xie Rong spoke, the happier and more excited he became, laughing to himself.

Lu Yi closed his eyes, then opened them again.

Xie Rong grew even more pleased with himself, his red lips curling upward. He was about to continue speaking when a shadow suddenly fell across his face.

The man lowered his head and furiously sealed his lips.

A burning palm cupped the back of his neck as teeth—wild and vicious, though without technique—gnawed at his lips, pried open his teeth, and stole all the sweet moisture from within his mouth.

Xie Rong froze, blinking in confusion.

The illustrated books only mentioned lips touching; they didn’t say same-sex partners would use their tongues too.

Xie Rong’s head spun uncomfortably. He didn’t want to kiss anymore and tried to push away, but the man held him tightly, sucking on his tongue with increasing force as if seeking revenge.

The water surface rippled, only gradually calming after half an hour had passed.

Xie Rong lay limp in the man’s arms, his expression dazed, as he was carried ashore in a bridal hold.

His lips were red and swollen, as if kissed and licked raw by the man.

With a palm print visible on his cheek, Lu Yi wordlessly carried him back to the bamboo house.

Satisfied now?

Xie Rong was placed on the bed by the man.

With the Gu worms active, of course he was satisfied.

Only when Lu Yi became completely consumed by same-sex desires, and then had the Gu worms removed from his chest, would he experience the most sober and painful moment.

Wearing a smile, Xie Rong imitated the tone from romance novels and wrapped his arms around Lu Yi’s neck. Tomorrow night, come to the bamboo house yourself. I want to continue testing the Gu worms. Remember?

Lu Yi agreed and turned to leave.

The next day.

The noble youths whom Lu Yi had previously scolded into awareness gradually learned that he had been whipped by the Valley Master. They felt guilty, especially since they had previously suspected Lu Yi of trying to steal the Valley Master’s position.

Some had even seen that morning that Lu Yi’s wounds had not only been soaked and ruined by water but had also festered.

Lu Yi had endured such humiliation to rescue them. Combined with the known cruelty of succession struggles among noble families in the capital, they finally understood, however reluctantly.

Led by the Son of Zhao’s Vice Minister, several noble youths decided not to wait idly anymore. They planned to approach Lu Yi after dinner to discuss how to escape Rosy Valley.

However, they waited outside the humble dwelling for an hour in the cold wind until night fell, yet Lu Yi still hadn’t returned.

A Drug slave sharing the room said Lu Yi had gone to the bamboo house and was probably being tortured again.

Although no member of the Swift Feather Guard was decent, if Lu Yi died, how would they ever return home?

The group exchanged uneasy glances before stealthily making their way to the bamboo hut.

The door was slightly ajar, faint sounds drifting from within. Young Master Zhao was the first to peer through the crack, instantly freezing at the sight.

Inside, a man was half-kneeling on the floor. His tall, imposing frame pinned the smaller youth against the corner, kissing him with such intensity that his eyes burned crimson and his breathing grew ragged. Only occasional muffled whimpers escaped from the figure trapped in his embrace.
