Chapter 6: The Saint of Southern Border Obsessed with Gu Poison 6

Outside the low house, Xie Rong took a few steps before suddenly stopping.

Host, what’s wrong?

Xie Rong raised his hand, lowering his gaze to stare at his palm.

The cold wind blew against his face, instantly chilling his moist palm.

He narrowed his eyes slightly, looking at his dry right hand and then his moist left hand.

The sweat on his palm wasn’t his—whose was it then?

Very good, daring to pretend to sleep and deceive me, Xie Rong curled his lips, clenched his knuckles, his features shrouded in heavy shadows.

The system had accompanied him for eighteen years in this world and quickly detected his impending violent loss of control.

That damned protagonist actually dared to deceive us! When he wakes up tomorrow, we must teach him a proper lesson!

Why wait until tomorrow? So he can have a good night’s sleep? Xie Rong chuckled.

When he wanted revenge on someone, he never waited overnight.

What are you going to do? The white slime tilted its head.

Xie Rong took the jade flute from his waist and brought it to his lips.

A piercing flute sound tore through the silent night, rising sharply like a howling sinister wind.

Inside the low house, the drug slaves who had been sleeping were painfully awakened by the Gu worms rampaging through their meridians, clutching their waists and moaning.

Lu Yi leaned against the bed, still able to endure with closed eyes.

The owner of the flute clearly had no intention of letting them off easily—the sound grew increasingly sharp, carrying with it that person’s wantonly vented malice.

Lu Yi gritted his teeth and got off the bed. The moment he pushed open the door, the flute sound abruptly ceased.

The night wind rushed into the room. The man looked up and saw only swaying tree shadows before the low house, without a single person in sight.

Had Xie Rong left without a word?

The system was also puzzled.

Host, you’re just leaving like that? I thought you would expose him.

Exposing him now wouldn’t be any fun, Xie Rong twirled the jade flute, his wooden clogs crushing the dried bamboo leaves on the ground. With my Gu poison in him, let’s see how long he can endure.

After a peaceful night’s sleep, the next morning at breakfast time, all the drug slaves were eating in the room next to the small kitchen.

Like everyone else, Lu Yi held an empty bowl, standing at the very end of the line. But when it was his turn, the drug slave serving food acted as if he didn’t see him, casually pouring the remaining food into the slop bucket.

What are you staring at me for? Weren’t you quite capable, using your strong body to seduce the Valley Master? The drug slave rolled his eyes sarcastically. Go ask the Valley Master to stand up for you.

Lu Yi’s expression darkened slightly, finding it utterly incomprehensible.

After being hung in the Five Venoms Cave by Xie Rong for seven days and seven nights, these deluded fools still thought Xie Rong treated him differently?

How ridiculous.

He stepped forward, picked up the large bowl of fish that the drug slave had saved for himself, poured it into the slop bucket, and smashed the bowl along with it.

You! The drug slave angrily raised his hand, but flinched when he saw the bulging muscles on Lu Yi’s arms.

Before he could react further, Lu Yi picked up a piece of broken porcelain with his fingertips and flicked it sharply. The shard struck the drug slave’s palm squarely.

A scream echoed as blood splattered on Lu Yi’s face. Everyone else eating in the room fell silent, staring in shock.

Lu Yi approached, pulled out the blood-stained porcelain shard, and crushed it barehanded, returning the words exactly as they were given: If you have the guts, go ask the Valley Master to stand up for you. Otherwise, if I don’t get to eat, neither will you.

Outside, Xie Rong stood by the slightly ajar window, taking in the entire scene.

Is this the great benevolent protagonist from the book? He chuckled, teasing the spider clinging to his neck with his fingertips. The Heavenly Dao must be blind.

The man in the room seemed to sense something and abruptly turned his head, meeting a pair of heterochromatic black-purple eyes through the narrow crack in the window.

Tap, tap, tap.

The window was lightly knocked three times, carrying an undisguised teasing tone, as if summoning a dog.

Yet, under another’s roof, if he didn’t comply with this devil’s whims, who knew if he’d go mad and play the flute in the middle of the night again?

Lu Yi strode out and saw the man leaning against the window, idly twirling the silver ornament dangling by his temple.

Satisfied?

Xie Rong raised an eyebrow, tilting his head slightly. With what?

You deliberately instructed the Drug slaves in the valley to provoke me, just to force me to retaliate, Lu Yi lowered his head, speaking coldly into his ear. Did you enjoy the show?

Xie Rong turned his head and let out a soft laugh. Acting all righteous and imposing while being the court’s lackey is just disgusting.

He reached out and patted Lu Yi’s cheek. You’re slightly more pleasing to the eye now than when you first arrived.

The palm against his cheek was soft and smooth, like flawless warm jade, no different from the seductive caresses under the covers last night.

Lu Yi’s face stiffened, and he quickly stepped back.

He couldn’t understand Xie Rong.

Tormenting him by day, crawling into his bed by night—what was he trying to achieve?

Lu Yi lowered his gaze and happened to see Xie Rong half-closing his eyes, rubbing his soft cheek against the green snake’s head as if no one else were present.

… The man’s face flushed red, and he muttered a low curse about shamelessness before turning and hurriedly walking away.

Xie Rong blinked in confusion at the man’s fleeing figure. Is he afraid of snakes?

Heh, who knows? Maybe he’s thinking of something dirty.

For the first time in eighteen years, Xie Rong didn’t understand his foolish system’s words.

He had been obsessed with Gu cultivation for these eighteen years, and in the hundred years before his death, he was equally engrossed in martial training, seldom interested in anything else.

Of course, he now had a new hobby: tormenting the protagonist in his spare time between Gu cultivation.

So, he never paid much attention to the system’s remarks.

Xie Rong returned to the bamboo house. By the time he finished feeding his precious Gu worms enough blood, night had fully fallen.

Valley Master, your bathwater is ready, Song Qingming’s voice sounded outside the door.

While the water was being poured, Xie Rong sat barefoot nearby, lifting the neatly folded purple vest from the tray with his fingertips.

He had only meant to glance at it casually, but he noticed the once-exquisite snow lotus pattern on his vest had faded from rough washing, the edges were frayed, and even a few of the dangling silver ornaments were missing!

Xie Rong’s originally enchanting eyes instantly turned icy, and his mood for bathing vanished entirely.

Valley Master, Lu Yi has been tasked with washing your clothes lately, Song Qingming interjected appropriately.

Tell him to get over here, Xie Rong said.

Moments later, Lu Yi was brought in.

The room was steamy, and before the man could see clearly, he was dragged by several Drug slaves to face the devil.

He kept his head down, only able to see the person in the armchair crossing their legs, their bare toes slightly upturned and tinged with pink.

A few breaths later, the owner of those feet leaned forward and slapped him, their voice as venomously soft as a snake’s. Look what you’ve done. Can’t even wash clothes properly? Are you useless?

Lu Yi ignored the stinging pain on his cheek and glanced at the crumpled vest in Xie Rong’s hand, replying calmly, It wouldn’t come clean, so I scrubbed harder.

Nonsense! The Valley Master stays in his room all day, without even a speck of mud on his clothes—how could they not be clean? Song Qingming sneered.

Lu Yi said calmly, The scent of perfumed powder on these clothes simply won’t wash out. If you don’t believe me, you can smell them yourself.

It must be that Xie Rong had applied too much perfumed powder on himself. Otherwise, no matter how rough his hands were or how delicate the fabric, they wouldn’t have ended up like this.
