Chapter 27: The Greedy and Malicious Little Nanny 5

In the original plot, although Duan Shuyao grew up with Xie Rong since childhood, he was righteous at heart.

After witnessing Xie Rong repeatedly abuse the protagonist, he became completely disillusioned with Xie Rong. Ultimately, he would serve as a witness in court, providing recorded evidence to help the protagonist subdue the villain.

Xie Rong’s task today was to deliberately flaunt everything he had stolen in front of Duan Shuyao.

Xie Rong sat down in the empty seat opposite Duan Shuyao, untied his belt and took off his trench coat, revealing the ruby brooch pinned to his white shirt.

Duan Shuyao lowered his gaze and looked away, pouring him a cup of warm tea.

Xie Rong took a sip and said smugly, The tea here is much worse than what I usually drink, but I suppose it’s good enough for you, right?

I’ve already ordered the dishes, all your favorites, Duan Shuyao said.

So generous? Xie Rong glanced at him sideways. Weren’t you even poorer than me before? How come you suddenly have money to eat so well now?

Duan Shuyao was currently attending university in the city. As an orphan and a financially disadvantaged student, he worked part-time whenever he didn’t have classes. He rarely mentioned these things to Xie Rong. Since I’m treating you to a meal, of course we should eat what you like.

Ten minutes later, the dishes were served one after another.

The dining table was unusually quiet. Xie Rong kept his head down, stuffing his favorite foods into his mouth.

He ate frantically, as if afraid of missing out on taking advantage of Duan Shuyao today. Before even swallowing what was in his mouth, he would stuff in two more bites, puffing out his cheeks.

His moist eyes darted around the table, sharp and quick, specifically targeting the expensive dishes, terrified that Duan Shuyao might snatch them away.

What did it matter whether he liked them or not? The more expensive they were, the more he liked them!

Duan Shuyao watched him eat with a gentle gaze, silently pulling out a tissue from time to time to wipe the grease from his face.

A sharp, noisy ringtone suddenly blared, drowning out the restaurant’s soft piano music. Diners in the hall turned to look in their direction.

Their initially displeased expressions paused for a moment when they caught sight of the young man’s face.

Some discreetly asked the wine-serving waiters why they had never seen this young man before.

With their discerning eyes, they could tell that the expensive clothes on the boy didn’t fit him properly. His slender, snow-white calves were covered in torn stockings, and he wore a pair of old leather shoes, like a little canary who had stolen his patron’s clothes.

Xie Rong unhurriedly pulled out his phone from his small crossbody bag, answered the call, and asked impatiently, Who is this?

Mr. Xie, Assistant Chen’s voice came through the receiver, slightly distorted. You’re not at the villa right now, are you?

Xie Rong rolled his eyes and said, Who said that? I just went out to buy groceries.

Assistant Chen sighed. Mr. Xie, President Lu visited the young master today and found out that he hasn’t eaten since last night until noon today. He’s very angry.

According to the contract we signed, Mr. Xie, you neglected your duties during working hours and will be fined two hundred. Mr. Xie, don’t let this happen again. President Lu has a bad temper, and I can’t persuade him.

Two hundred?!

Xie Rong hung up the phone, bristling like a cat whose ball of yarn had been snatched away.

Two hundred—he would have to scavenge for trash with Granny for a whole week to earn that much money!

Xiao Rong, Duan Shuyao spoke up at the right moment, pushing a gift he had prepared earlier toward Xie Rong. Open it. It might cheer you up a little.

Xie Rong opened the gift box

Inside was the latest model smartphone.

Like it? Duan Shuyao asked with concealed anticipation.

Xie Rong’s expression remained unreadable. So this is the real reason you invited me to dinner today?

First treating him to a meal, then deliberately giving him a new phone – all just to humiliate him for being too poor to afford a phone, mocking him for having to use one dug out from the trash?

He didn’t need anyone’s charity.

What he wanted, he would take for himself.

Xiao Rong, actually I… Duan Shuyao’s ears turned slightly red as he avoided eye contact, his hands fidgeting nervously together. The words he had kept buried for years finally found the courage to surface.

Xie Rong stood up, picked up the orange juice beside him, and splashed it on Duan Shuyao’s face. Who wants your stupid phone? Keep it for yourself, you pauper! he snapped.

After saying this, he grabbed his small crossbody bag, took one last look at Duan Shuyao’s disheveled state, snorted coldly, and left.

By 2 PM, the rain had gradually stopped. Xie Rong returned to the Lu family villa and went straight to the second floor.

The study door on the second floor was slightly ajar, a sliver of warm yellow light leaking through the crack and casting a long, oblique shadow on the floor.

Xie Rong pushed the door open while carrying a fruit platter, a smile on his face. Young master must be tired from studying. Have some fruit.

The young master, who had been listening to his professor’s lecture, twitched his eyebrows and glanced at the bizarrely shaped fruit cuts on the platter.

They looked less like sliced fruit and more like dismembered corpses.

But his current study time was precious, and to prevent Xie Rong from throwing a tantrum and scaring off the professor, Lu Chengjin silently opened his mouth and accepted the piece of apple Xie Rong considerately fed him.

Lu Chengjin frowned and hesitantly swallowed it.

Though the taste was somewhat strange.

Xie Rong was very patient, smiling as he continued to feed Lu Chengjin a second piece.

Of course the taste was strange.

They were all scrap pieces he had snatched up for two yuan during a clearance sale at the fruit shop on his way back.

A mute deserved to eat scraps.

An hour later, the professor finished the lesson.

Xie Rong smilingly saw the professor out of the villa, then returned to the study. The moment he closed the door, the smile completely vanished from his face.

Was the fruit delicious? He walked over to Lu Chengjin’s desk and sat facing him on the desktop.

His thigh pressed against Lu Chengjin’s hand resting on the edge of the desk, but he paid no mind. Picking up the fruit platter, he speared a piece of snow pear and brought it to Lu Chengjin’s lips.

Lu Chengjin maintained a cold expression, his lips pressed tightly together, refusing to eat.

The smooth, pale flesh pressing against his knuckles made his scalp tingle. He paused but didn’t pull away.

After all, Xie Rong, as his little nanny, hadn’t been fired by his dear brother even after starving him for two meals. It was highly likely he was a spy sent to monitor him.

Probably also to seduce him, make him degenerate, and completely lose his inheritance rights to the Lu Group.

The events of the past day or two were enough to prove how frivolous this little nanny was.

Weren’t you the one who complained that I wasn’t feeding you? Xie Rong said softly. Now that I’m personally feeding you, why won’t you eat?

…

Xie Rong’s patience ran out. He slapped Lu Chengjin across the face, a trace of malice leaking from his narrowed eyes. Open your mouth. I spent two whole yuan fighting to get this box of fruit! You rich people only know how to waste things!

Protagonist’s Pain Value +5

Host, you’re getting more and more skilled at embodying the bad nanny persona!

Xie Rong snorted proudly. Why would I need to practice something like that?

With so many news reports about nannies abusing the elderly, you can learn just by glancing at a few examples.

As long as the protagonist’s precious necklace remained in his possession, the protagonist had no choice but to endure being bullied by this wicked nanny.

Sure enough, Lu Chengjin didn’t dare retaliate even with a bright red slap mark on his face, obediently opening his mouth to eat every piece of fruit Xie Rong fed him.

Xie Rong pulled out a tissue, leaning down to gently wipe his mouth. Oh dear, I forgot to tell you—I accidentally spit in the fruit while cutting it earlier.

Lu Chengjin froze, his pitch-black eyes locking onto Xie Rong with a murderous glare when he looked up.

Host, I don’t remember you spitting though.

Of course Xie Rong hadn’t actually spit—he just wanted to disgust Lu Chengjin on purpose.

After Lu Chengjin caused him to get docked two hundred yuan, making him nauseous was getting off easy.

Curling his lips into a smirk, Xie Rong leaned close to Lu Chengjin’s ear and deliberately asked, How did my saliva taste, Young Master?
