Chapter 25: The Greedy and Malicious Little Nanny 3

Xie Rong turned his head, still holding a silk shirt he had just snatched from the hanger.

The soft, slightly cool fabric glided gently over his skin, unlike the discounted clothes his mother-in-law rushed to buy from street stalls, which would chafe his skin red the moment he put them on.

Through the glass cabinet door, he met Lu Chengjin’s gaze and blinked.

[Host, he locked the cabinet door,] the White Slime nestled in the hollow of his collarbone, puffing up angrily, [Teach him a lesson!]

Xie Rong raised his hand and pressed against the cabinet door—sure enough, it wouldn’t open.

So the mute can show his fangs after all.

He couldn’t help but laugh, clutching his aching stomach. Under Lu Chengjin’s icy stare, his fingers leisurely hooked out a pale purple gemstone necklace from behind and dangled it in front of Lu Chengjin.

See what this is?

The next second, Lu Chengjin’s face darkened abruptly. He tried to unlock the door, only to find it wouldn’t open.

Xie Rong had locked it from the inside.

A glass cabinet that could be locked from the inside—this was the first time he’d seen such a thing. How amusing.

Xie Rong clamped the gemstone necklace between his pearly teeth, freeing his hands to rummage through his small crossbody bag and pull out a lighter.

Then, right in front of Lu Chengjin, he lit the hem of a pair of high-end tailored suit pants.

The flames slowly began to spread.

Since he cherished these clothes and accessories so much that he refused to give them to him, he might as well destroy them all.

Xie Rong curved his eyes at Lu Chengjin, watching as Young Master Lu’s jaw tightened and he began smashing the cabinet door with fierce determination.

Mindful of the little nanny holding the only memento left by his parents, Lu Chengjin could only use his bare hands to break the glass.

He was too useless—in the past, he could only watch helplessly as his parents died tragically, and now he could only allow a little nanny to humiliate him.

[Protagonist’s Pain Value +20! Host, you’re amazing! The system admires you so much!]

Thick smoke filled the wardrobe with no way to disperse. Xie Rong couldn’t help but cough, his thin, bare shoulders trembling uncontrollably. His eyes were red, making him look utterly pitiful, like a kitten trapped in a cage, waiting for a man to save him.

If only he could keep the corners of his mouth from curling up.

The moment Lu Chengjin shattered the glass with a punch, Xie Rong’s laughter, previously muffled by the cabinet door, finally reached his ears.

How could someone be so indifferent to their own safety, all for the sake of tormenting others for amusement?

His face cold, Lu Chengjin ignored the glass shards embedded in the back of his hand, scooped up Xie Rong, placed him on the bed, and then rushed to the bathroom to fetch water to put out the fire.

Xie Rong sat on the bed, waited a few minutes, and couldn’t suppress a yawn.

[Host, what about this necklace?]

Xie Rong grabbed the White Slime on his shoulder, pried open its mouth, and stuffed the necklace inside.

Problem solved.

The system struggled to cover its mouth, forcing itself to swallow.

[It tastes awful.]

I’ll buy you oranges tomorrow, Xie Rong patted its head.

Ten minutes later, the fire was extinguished.

Lu Chengjin tended to his wounds and walked out of the bathroom, stopping by the bed.

His once tidy bed was now a mess, slept on by the little nanny and permeated with a jumble of fragrances.

Lu Chengjin pulled back the covers.

Wrapped inside was a soft, snow-white body, the upper half clad in an ill-fitting but expensive silk shirt, the legs bare, with a garishly colored pair of underwear faintly visible beneath the shirt’s hem.

The little nanny who hung around the red-light district had never even been to a proper shopping mall. To save a few pennies, he casually bought a pair of underwear from a roadside stall without even checking the size, and ended up confusing men’s and women’s clothing.

To save money, he had no choice but to wear it secretly, thinking no one would notice.

Lu Chengjin reached out and lifted the hem of his shirt, his gaze calm and unreadable as he carefully scanned the area, but he couldn’t find the light purple gemstone necklace.

Where on earth had he hidden it?

A little nanny with sticky fingers might very well hide such a valuable treasure in some unspeakable place.

Lu Chengjin frowned, his eyes beneath his bangs dark and filled with suppressed disgust.

He pursed his lips and remained motionless, crouching by the bed as he stared at Xie Rong.

When Xie Rong woke up, he turned his head and saw the person by the bed.

Want your necklace? Xie Rong asked knowingly.

Lu Chengjin nodded.

Xie Rong smiled and said, I’m thirsty. I want some orange juice.

Without hesitation, Lu Chengjin turned and left the room. A few minutes later, he returned with a glass of orange juice, crouched by the bed, and handed it to him.

Xie Rong took it, took a small sip, glanced at Lu Chengjin, and then slowly tilted the glass, pouring the rest of the orange juice over Lu Chengjin’s head.

I only spared a sip for myself. The rest is for you. When your brother comes to visit you in two weeks, don’t say I didn’t take good care of you, Xie Rong stuck out his tongue, licking the pulp left on the rim of the glass. The sweet and sour taste spread from the tip of his tongue, and he squinted in satisfaction. Besides me, who else would be willing to take care of a violent mute like you?

[Protagonist’s Pain Value +5. Current Protagonist’s Pain Value: 30!]

Lu Chengjin closed his eyes, his chest rising and falling with restraint. The sticky orange liquid dripped from his brow down to his chin, finally soaking into the clothes on his chest.

But he was still holding back. He hadn’t gotten the necklace yet.

As for that gemstone necklace, I’ll keep it safe for you for now, Xie Rong said with a smile. It’s also part of my duties as a nanny.

Lu Chengjin remained silent, but Xie Rong was in a good mood, his eyes roaming over him again and again.

Until the phone in his small bag began to vibrate.

Xie Rong put down the glass, got out of bed barefoot, and went to answer the call.

He sat on the piano that Lu Chengjin cherished so much, his fair legs shamelessly pressing against the black and white keys. The flip phone he held to his ear was an old-fashioned model, probably picked up from somewhere.

While talking on the phone, he even found time to snap a photo of himself sitting on the piano and sent it to the person on the other end, boasting with vanity that it was a piano he had just bought.

From the little nanny’s unguarded conversation, Lu Chengjin easily gathered that the man on the phone was his friend, inviting him to a restaurant with a per-person cost exceeding four digits for lunch the next day.

The inexperienced little nanny’s eyes lit up at the mention of a four-digit restaurant, especially since the other party was treating, but he still pretended to be reserved and reluctantly agreed.

He hung up the phone, climbed down from the piano, and walked over to the pile of burned clothes with legs still bearing the marks of the piano keys. He began rummaging for clothes he could wear to pretend to be wealthy when going out.

Just moments ago, he had been indifferent while setting the clothes on fire, but now he looked pained and regretful. How fickle.

Xie Rong quickly found his outfit.

Even though everything was too big, as long as the clothes were expensive, others would simply think it was a unique design.

That night, he drove Lu Chengjin out of the room and slept soundly. The next morning, after waking up and taking a bath, he was about to get dressed to go out when he discovered—

His underwear was missing! And he had paid good money for all of them!

Xie Rong, draped in a loose bathrobe, frantically rummaged through the room.

Outside the door, Lu Chengjin silently pushed it ajar, his dark eyes peering coldly through the crack at the busy figure.

Clutched in his hand was unmistakably that pair of bright red underwear.
