Chapter 23: The Greedy and Malicious Little Nanny 1

If there are no issues, please sign here.

In the Lu family villa, the assistant leaned forward to present a document, his finger pointing to the blank space at the bottom right. Mr. Xie, you can sign here.

A slender, elegant hand picked up the pen from the table, making one instinctively want to follow that hand upward to discover what its owner might look like.

Xie Rong bit off the pen cap, tilting his head back to examine the crystal chandelier overhead. His uniquely clear black-purple heterochromatic eyes shifted slightly as he leaned closer to the assistant and whispered, This crystal chandelier must cost at least several thousand, right?

These rich people simply don’t understand the value of everyday necessities! The Lu family was hiring him as a nanny for a monthly salary that was only worth a few of these chandeliers!

Xie Rong cast an envious glance at the chandelier and snorted softly.

The assistant maintained a proper smile and gently urged, Mr. Xie, please sign first.

The young man before him was far more beautiful than the big stars in fashion magazines – with unique black-purple heterochromatic eyes, soft fluffy black hair reaching his waist, and particularly that red crescent moon mark on his cheekbone that stood out strikingly against his pale skin.

He wore an oversized black off-shoulder turtleneck sweater that didn’t fit properly, the exposed shoulders glowing with a pearlescent sheen that made the discounted, clearance-rack sweater from a night market stall look like a uniquely styled private custom piece.

When sitting quietly here, the million-dollar crystal chandelier above the young man’s head served merely as background. His looking around mannerisms resembled a curious kitten pampered within this villa, but the moment he spoke, the street-smart aura acquired from the slums would hit you head-on, leaving you speechless.

Xie Rong pressed his pen tip against the signature line on the document, then paused again.

Assistant Chen, for children with psychological issues like the Lu family’s second young master, most nannies wouldn’t be willing to come, afraid he might go crazy and hit someone someday, Xie Rong propped his head up, smiling at Assistant Chen with curved eyes, his tone particularly innocent. I’m so good-looking – what if your second young master damages my face?

Assistant Chen was momentarily dazzled by his smile, almost forgetting that what he was making Xie Rong sign was a nanny agreement rather than a kept lover agreement.

Such a beautiful face certainly shouldn’t be marred by injuries.

Heavy rain beat against the floor-to-ceiling window beside the table, like thousands of glass beads crashing against it. Assistant Chen quickly regained his composure, nodding slightly. I’ll make a call to President Lu.

After speaking, he turned and went upstairs.

Xie Rong lazily sprawled on the sofa, his delicate pale fingers repeatedly stroking the smooth, fine texture of the leather upholstery.

As expected of the host, you’re acting so villainous!

Acting?

A shadow of gloom crossed Xie Rong’s brow.

In his previous world, he had many snake babies – even the protagonist had to obey him. With Gu worms in hand, he could have whatever he wanted.

But in this world, he had been transmigrated directly into a trash can at birth, found and taken in by an old woman who made her living scavenging in the red-light district.

The old woman couldn’t afford to send him to school and feared he would learn bad habits from the people in the red-light district, so she moved with him from the red-light district’s basement to the crowded corridor-style apartment building in the neighboring slums.

Xie Rong hadn’t attended school in his previous life or the life before that, and didn’t want to in this life either. He simply followed the old woman to collect trash – she did the collecting while he served as the mascot.

The grandmother always said that whenever he was around, they would always find valuable treasures.

Xie Rong felt quite proud – after all, who did they think he was?

The plot of this world begins when the protagonist turns eighteen.

After witnessing his parents fall to their deaths, the protagonist developed autism. At an age when he should have been attending university, he could only study at home with private tutors.

The villain is the nanny hired by the protagonist’s older brother to take care of his daily needs. Though similar in age to the protagonist, the nanny had to drop out of school early and could only make ends meet by working as a caretaker. Meanwhile, the protagonist seemed to have everything without lifting a finger! Consumed by jealousy, the villain began bullying and mistreating the protagonist both openly and in secret—not only taking the protagonist’s belongings for himself but also stealing a precious gemstone necklace left behind by the protagonist’s mother, intending to sell it for money.

When the protagonist begged him to return the necklace, the nanny kicked him down the stairs.

Unexpectedly, that very kick led to the protagonist waking up in the hospital not only able to speak again but also handing over pre-recorded evidence to the police. As a result, the nanny was sent to prison for rehabilitation, and the protagonist’s own brother—who had murdered their parents in a bid for power—was ultimately sentenced to execution.

In the end, all the villains faced the consequences of their actions. The protagonist reclaimed everything that was rightfully his, achieved great success, and led the Lu Corporation to even greater heights.

Xie Rong was no saint to begin with—he didn’t need to act the part. Stealing from the protagonist was nothing new; he’d even taken Yang energy before. What was a little money in comparison?

Besides, in this world, only money allowed one to do as they pleased.

And anything that allowed him to do as he pleased—he wanted it all! Everything would be his!

Assistant Chen, who had gone upstairs to make a phone call, came back down wearing his usual polite smile. Mr. Xie, President Lu has agreed to double your salary. As long as you take good care of the young master, everything will be fine.

You said it yourself, Xie Rong replied, as if afraid they might change their mind. He hastily scrawled two clumsy characters on the freshly printed document, then pocketed the expensive-looking fountain pen.

Assistant Chen closed the file and said with a final smile before leaving, Mr. Xie, the second young master’s room is the last one on the west side of the second floor. He prefers quiet, so aside from delivering meals and cleaning, please do not disturb him. President Lu usually resides at the old estate but visits the young master every two weeks.

The moment the assistant was gone, Xie Rong’s eyes began roaming freely around the villa, like a mistress inspecting her new home. After a moment, he withdrew his gaze, satisfied.

He climbed the carpeted stairs to the second floor, walked down the hallway, and stopped in front of the last room on the west side. He knocked.

After waiting a few seconds with no response, Xie Rong pushed the door open and entered.

The room was unlit, with gray curtains drawn tightly shut, giving it a dim, basement-like atmosphere. The Lu family’s second young master sat at a piano in the corner, his overly long bangs covering his eyes. His chin was slender, his lips thin and indifferent. His fingers rested on the keys—unpressed—and he did not turn to look at the newcomer.

Not a bad room, Xie Rong remarked as he stepped inside, giving the space a critical once-over. He then lay down on the tidy, large bed, kicked off his worn leather shoes, bent his legs, and hooked his fingers under the edges of his white calf socks, slowly peeling them off.

The cheap socks were disposable and lacked elasticity. As soon as he removed them, a clear red mark was left around his fair calves.

Xie Rong couldn’t bear to throw them away but was too lazy to wash them. He glanced at the protagonist in the corner, flicked his wrist, and casually tossed the socks onto Young Master Lu’s shoulder.

Hey, since you’ve got nothing better to do, go wash these for me.
