Chapter 13: The Southern Border Saint Obsessed with Gu Poison 13

Lu Yi was also pondering.

Was Xie Rong so eager to tell others that he was different, so desperate to declare his claim?

So fierce during the day, yet secretly scheming with these petty thoughts.

Lu Yi’s knuckles resting against the doorframe trembled slightly, the corners of his lips lifting before he forcibly straightened them.

It must be the Love Gu’s influence, making him taste a hint of sweetness.

System, where’s the pain value? Xie Rong waited for a long time without hearing the system’s prompt, growing increasingly impatient.

Host, the protagonist’s pain value hasn’t increased.

Impossible!

He deliberately let the people from Shangyunjing witness Lu Yi becoming involved with a man and conspiring with a notorious villain on the same bed, all to make Lu Yi experience the agony of complete humiliation and ruined reputation.

How could a righteous protagonist endure being forced into disgrace and then being seen by others?

If this matter spread, even the emperor would punish Lu Yi, and no one would believe in his innocence.

Xie Rong’s fingertips turned pale as he uncontrollably snapped the round fan in his hands. His heterochromatic dark purple eyes grew gloomy, not a single candlelight able to penetrate them.

Where did things go wrong?

Whether it was Gu cultivation or pretending to be involved with a man, Xie Rong could grasp it just by flipping through books.

But he didn’t understand why being involved with a man inevitably led to intimate physical contact, nor could he comprehend what it meant to be entangled in passionate affection unto death.

He simply did what the books taught him to do.

What constituted propriety, righteousness, integrity, and shame, what counted as frivolous and despicable behavior—he didn’t understand.

Enticing a man to kiss him, lifting his garments before a man—it was all merely to achieve his goals.

Who knows what’s going on in his mind, hehe. The system added sarcastically.

Xie Rong rose from the bed, walked up to Lu Yi, grabbed his collar, and forced him to lower his head.

I called him here on purpose,

He raised his eyebrows triumphantly, his red lips parting as each gentle word dripped with venom.

Lu Yi remained silent for a moment, then tilted his head to reveal slightly reddened ear tips, replying dryly, As long as you’re happy.

Xie Rong: …

Xie Rong slapped him hard across the face, then drew the whip from his waist and drove Lu Yi out of the bamboo house.

Still not leaving? Want to end up like him too? He pressed his swollen lips together, his eyes accumulating gloom as he glanced sideways at the still-looming Jin Jiuzhou, casually flicking his whip.

Jin Jiuzhou froze.

Like Lu Yi? Like Lu Yi kissing?

Jin Jiuzhou’s face flushed red.

This demon really has no shame.

I don’t want to! Jin Jiuzhou exclaimed before fleeing in panic.

The protagonist’s pain value has reached 69, host is amazing!

The white Slime gently rubbed against Xie Rong’s cheek.

Xie Rong remained expressionless and turned back to the bed.

He finally managed to summon a trace of drowsiness with his eyes closed when he suddenly heard the system prompt.

Protagonist’s pain value +1

Xie Rong opened his eyes and waited a few moments.

Protagonist’s pain value +1

After a few more moments.

Protagonist’s pain value +1

Xie Rong sat up, frowned, grabbed the white Slime by his pillow, and shook it.

What is Lu Yi doing hurting in the middle of the night?

What’s going on?

The system isn’t malfunctioning anyway. Whether the protagonist is malfunctioning or not, the system doesn’t know.

Protagonist’s pain value +1, current protagonist pain value 73!

As long as the pain value was increasing, it was a good thing. Xie Rong thought for a moment and decided to let it be.

Perhaps Lu Yi had come to his senses and realized his reputation was about to be destroyed?

Xie Rong snorted coldly, set his mind at ease, lay down, and fell asleep.
The system bounced cheerfully, leaping into his embrace.

In the following days, Xie Rong continued to torment Lu Yi as freely as before.

Yet the pain value showed no fluctuation during daylight hours. Only in the dead of night, when Xie Rong was drifting into slumber, would it sporadically, incrementally rise.

Sometimes, just as Xie Rong was deeply asleep, he’d be jolted awake by the system’s alert tone.

Unable to bear the disturbance any longer, Xie Rong ordered someone to bring that fellow over.

It happened to be late at night. Xie Rong sat on the couch without his outer robe, his forehead hair obscuring half his brows and eyes, his expression restless and irritable. He repeatedly tied the green snake coiled around his wrist into knots, then untied them.

Valley Master, he’s been brought here. Lu Yi was pushed into the bamboo hut. Raising his gaze, he saw the figure shrouded behind the draped curtains.

Come closer, a soft voice called from behind the curtains.

Lu Yi strode over, though his gait was slightly awkward.

He knelt beside the couch, suddenly realizing that even when facing the emperor he had never bowed so submissively—when had kneeling before this devil become so instinctive?

The night wind slipped through the half-open window, parting the curtain seams. A subtle fragrance wafted out from within, wantonly teasing Lu Yi’s nostrils.

Lu Yi’s Adam’s apple bobbed as he watched a jade-like hand part the curtains, as if to caress him. He instinctively leaned forward.

Are you suffering at night? The hand reached out and gripped his neck.

Xie Rong’s palm was delicate yet piercingly cold, the back of his hand pale, his fingers slender and bloodless in the darkness. His voice, soft and deliberately lowered, resembled a female ghost come to claim a soul at midnight.

Lu Yi stiffened, abruptly looking up at him as if struggling to speak. How… how did you know?

These past few nights, he had sought relief but never found complete release. During the day, this devil would provocatively tease him in public, regardless of the setting, making it increasingly hard to suppress his urges.

He was a normal man, afflicted with Gu. Even if he weren’t inclined toward men, who could endure such relentless temptation?

In Rosy Valley, there is nothing I don’t know, Xie Rong lowered his head, his eyes meeting Lu Yi’s, exhaling a scented breath. Tell me of your suffering. I wish to taste it too.

Strands of hair fell, covering his crescent-shaped birthmark, yet making it all the more enticing—something to explore, to touch, to deepen into a richer red.

Lu Yi’s gaze unconsciously drifted toward the crescent on Xie Rong’s cheekbone.

Even with a hand choking his neck, leaving him breathless, he gradually became entranced, hoarsely replying, Alright.

Xie Rong tilted his head and smiled, tightening his grip, savoring the man’s near-suffocation.

Lu Yi’s face flushed, his pupils dilating. The agony of asphyxiation faded, replaced by a strange euphoria, as if floating on clouds.

The pleasure bestowed by Xie Rong.

Just as all sound began to fade, the hand tormenting his neck released him.

Lu Yi collapsed by the couch, gasping for air.

Still suffering? Xie Rong patted his head.

Lu Yi shook his head, then quietly asked, Do you know whenever anyone in the valley suffers? Do you treat everyone like this?

Summoning someone to his bedside in the middle of the night, a lone man with another, dressed so scantily, asking if they’re in discomfort.

If someone were tormented by that kind of urge, would he actually help them relieve it?

Who gave you permission to question me? Xie Rong said coldly. From today onward, you’ll sleep here.

This way, he could keep Lu Yi under close watch to gauge his suffering and torment, while simultaneously tarnishing Lu Yi’s reputation—killing two birds with one stone.

Xie Rong lay back on the couch and closed his eyes to sleep.

Outside the silk curtains, the bloodshot veins in Lu Yi’s eyes only intensified instead of fading. As he relieved himself, he slowly lowered his head and kissed the back of the devil’s hand through the sheer hanging gauze.

Since childhood, his father had taught him to be upright and honorable, to hate evil as a sworn enemy, never to bow before the powerful, and to join the Swift Feather Guard solely to bring corrupt officials to justice.

Yet at this very moment, he was defying his ancestral teachings, obsessively kissing the crevices between a villain’s fingers merely to satisfy his own selfish desires.
