Chapter 12: The Southern Border Saint Obsessed with Gu Poison 12

Am I not enough for you to torment? Lu Yi stared intently at him, his grip tightening slightly around Xie Rong’s ankle, accidentally leaving red finger marks on the pale skin.

Was kissing him, a man, not enough for Xie Rong? Did he want a second one?

Your blood is precious, Xie Rong tried to pull his foot back but failed, so he simply kicked Lu Yi’s chest wound instead, but your life is worthless.

Protagonist’s Pain Value +5! Current Pain Value: 64

Lu Yi clutched his chest, face pale as blood seeped through the fabric beneath his fingers.

Xie Rong glanced sideways at Jin Jiuzhou, a slow smile curling his lips as if struck by a thought.

He raised his foot and pressed it against Jin Jiuzhou’s face.

The man seemed to guess what was coming, anger flashing across his features, but he could only watch helplessly as Xie Rong slowly, deliberately, pushed his face into the water basin.

Water splashed everywhere as Jin Jiuzhou coughed violently with his face submerged. Xie Rong paid no mind, tilting his head to smile at Lu Yi instead.

Just as expected, their precious protagonist was glaring furiously at the foot resting on Jin Jiuzhou’s head, chest heaving, jaw clenched, and face dark with rage—as if wishing he could suffer in Jin Jiuzhou’s place.

How painful it must be to watch your rescuing companion be humiliated while powerless to stop it.

Protagonist’s Pain Value +5!

If you disobey me again in the future, I’ll torment him. Xie Rong looked down at the man struggling beneath his foot and laughed delightedly.

I’ll obey, Lu Yi rasped.

Kneel.

Lu Yi knelt.

Xie Rong beckoned to him again.

Lu Yi crawled forward on his knees.

Xie Rong knew the Love Gu was partly responsible for this compliance, but it didn’t matter.

When the time came and the Gu poison was lifted, remembering these days would surely make Lu Yi wish he were dead.

He gently brushed Lu Yi’s cheek with his knuckles. The weather is nice today. Teach your companion how to work.

Lu Yi reached up to encircle his wrist and responded in a low voice.

Absolute submission, absolute obedience—all hatred swallowed deep down.

Perhaps this was the most satisfactory Drug slave Xie Rong could ask for.

Xie Rong released Jin Jiuzhou.

Kneeling to the side, Jin Jiuzhou coughed violently. With every gasp, the strange fragrance clung to him from his nostrils to his internal organs.

But he was too parched, and couldn’t resist licking the water droplets from his lips, his pride completely shattered.

Raised in privilege, even during his military service, no one had dared make this young general suffer—yet now he was reduced to drinking this devil’s foot-washing water.

And he’d even licked it up willingly.

Jin Jiuzhou looked down at his reflection in the water basin.

Eyes bloodshot and filled with hatred, wet bangs stuck to his brow, his carefully maintained ponytail now a bird’s nest.

He looked like a drowned dog.

Get out, all of you. The devil waved his hand, having had his fill of amusement.

Jin Jiuzhou was led out of the bamboo house.

Following the other Drug slaves, he walked for about the time it takes a stick of incense to burn before stopping before a paddy field.

The field stretched endlessly, with occasional egrets pausing in the water to admire their reflections.

Adjacent to the field was a lake, its water flowing through several small channels into the paddies.

Jin Jiuzhou saw many young nobles he recognized from the capital, all skillfully rolling up their sleeves and transplanting rice seedlings in the field.

Then he turned his head.

Under the orange tree, Xie Rong had taken off his wooden clogs and was lazily reclining on a bamboo rocking chair. The fierce sunlight couldn’t reach his exposed snow-white skin, and the gentle breeze by his temples seemed to favor him alone.

Occasionally, he would open his eyes, and if he spotted any Drug slave slacking off, he would grab the whip beside him and lash out, cursing as he struck.

Perched on Xie Rong’s shoulder, a white Slime clutched a small folding fan, diligently fanning him.

Host, is this breeze cool enough?

Xie Rong closed his eyelids and hummed lightly, Not bad.

Jin Jiuzhou, wary of drawing attention, didn’t dare to stare for too long and averted his gaze, his lips curling into a cold smirk.

Did he really think of himself as a local tyrant?

This field’s seedlings are your responsibility, Lu Yi said, lifting a basket of young plants and tossing it at Jin Jiuzhou’s feet.

My hands aren’t meant for farming, Jin Jiuzhou retorted, crossing his arms and furrowing his sword-like brows.

Funny, I thought the same when I first arrived, Lu Yi replied before turning and walking away.

Jin Jiuzhou stared at the seedlings in the basket, squatting on the ground and scratching his head in frustration.

Planting crops here was worse than being tied up in the bamboo hut for interrogation.

Didn’t Xie Rong want to know who had sent out the Gu worm? Why had he dropped the matter as soon as Lu Yi intervened?

As Jin Jiuzhou’s gaze shifted between the two, speculating vaguely, Xie Rong’s whip cut through the air and struck his back.

If you don’t finish planting this field, don’t expect to eat today, Xie Rong said, adjusting the woven wildflower hat on his head to keep it from blowing away in the wind. He shot a sidelong glance at Jin Jiuzhou.

Beneath the hat’s brim, his face was exquisitely pale, yet his words and actions were as venomous as a serpent or scorpion.

Gritting his teeth, Jin Jiuzhou shouldered the basket and stepped into the sticky soil, suppressing his disgust.

One day, when he razed this demon’s lair, he would plant this bastard in the ground too!

Fortunately, as a martial artist, though he had never farmed before, his stamina far exceeded that of an ordinary man.

By sunset, Jin Jiuzhou had finally finished planting the field and ate his first meal in three days.

He devoured the food ravenously, feeling hungrier than he ever had, even during his time in the military camp.

Before he could finish, Song Qingming approached him and said indifferently, The Valley Master summons you to the bamboo hut.

Frowning, Jin Jiuzhou reluctantly followed Song Qingming.

By then, it was dark, and the door of the bamboo hut was tightly shut, with only a faint, bean-sized candlelight flickering through the window.

Jin Jiuzhou waited outside for a while, pacing back and forth, but the door never opened.

What scheme was this demon plotting now?

Glancing around and seeing that Song Qingming had already left, he stealthily pressed close to the bamboo door and peered through the crack.

Inside, the candlelight was dim, casting the shadows of two embracing figures on the wall.

Jin Jiuzhou’s gaze lingered on the shadows for a moment before lowering.

On the bamboo bed hung many slender bamboo tubes, and behind them was a slender figure.

His purple sheer shawl had slipped off, revealing a smooth, round shoulder. He sat facing a tall, broad-shouldered man, his legs straddling the man’s lap, arms casually looped around the man’s neck, tilting his head back slightly as the man nibbled and licked.

And the man kissing him with such fervor was none other than Lu Yi, who had been tormented by the demon just that day!

Suppressed gasps seeped through the door crack. Jin Jiuzhou’s feet felt nailed to the ground, his eyes burning, and he couldn’t help but swallow hard.

Was Lu Yi kissing that demon so desperately because it felt that good? Had he been bewitched by a Gu?

Lost in thought, the kissing inside had already ended. Lu Yi was kicked off the bed by the demon, who turned hostile the moment the kiss was over.

The bamboo hut door opened from within. Jin Jiuzhou, jolted from his daze, had no time to retreat and collided head-on with Lu Yi.

Before embarrassment could set in, Jin Jiuzhou’s gaze drifted uncontrollably past Lu Yi into the interior.

Xie Rong sat by the couch, disheveled robes failing to conceal the love bites. Holding a round fan that he gently waved, he glanced sideways at Jin Jiuzhou before turning with keen interest toward Lu Yi, as if anticipating something.

In that moment, Jin Jiuzhou felt absolutely certain: Xie Rong had deliberately orchestrated this encounter.

Was kissing Lu Yi not enough? Did he now want to seduce him too, to be kissed by him as well?
