Suddenly Became a Boy – What Should I Do? - Chapter 73.2
Half an hour later, a volunteer group led Lin Xin and Cheng Shiyin to the school playground. The crowd’s enthusiasm rivaled that of a sports day. Teachers who remained and mischievous kids filled half the field. Judges, a marching band, a broadcasting station, and even a figure resembling the principal sitting on a podium—every sports day essential was in place.
Is this school determined to keep everyone here after class?
“Now approaching us is the esteemed P.E. teacher from XX Elementary…” Even a pre-written announcement was being read!
As the two marveled at the absurdity of the duel’s scale, a formation of marching children escorted Cheng Shiyin away from Lin Xin’s side. Lin Xin could only watch as she was led to a throne in the center of the field, surrounded by beautiful flowers.
This was no duel; it was a wedding ceremony, complete with charming flower children. The thought of Cheng Shiyin in a wedding dress brought a radiant smile to Lin Xin’s face, sending him into a dreamy daze.
Once Cheng Shiyin was seated, the broadcast music turned triumphant. One of Cheng Shiyin’s fellow interns, moonlighting as a commentator, began speaking with exaggerated pomp, “Ladies and Gentlemen…” Despite their limited vocabulary, they continued, “Today’s duel is unlike the annual sports meet. This battle isn’t about athleticism but about two men vying for the heart of our beautiful intern teacher!”
The crowd erupted into wild howls of excitement, surpassing even the children’s enthusiasm. The loudest cheers came from the teachers who had stayed late for meetings and the other interns.
They’re really going all out, Lin Xin and Cheng Shiyin both thought, almost in sync.
“The first round! Let’s welcome our two male contestants to the stage to deliver their declarations!” the host announced.
“Male contestants?” The teacher holding the camera furrowed his brow. “Are you mixing this up with If You Are the One?”
The adults in the audience burst into laughter, leaving the confused elementary schoolers scratching their heads. They had no idea what If You Are the One was.
Brushing aside the interruption, Zhang Jianguo readily stepped forward, took the microphone, and locked eyes with Cheng Shiyin. “I hope you’ll see my strengths and consider giving me a chance.”
The audience, apart from Lin Xin, Cheng Shiyin, and Zhang Jianguo, all assumed this was a fair competition between two suitors vying for Cheng Shiyin’s affection. They didn’t realize Lin Xin and Cheng Shiyin were already a couple.
As for Lin Xin, he saw no need for speeches. Instead, he opened his arms wide and blew Cheng Shiyin a dramatic kiss. She caught it with both hands and pressed it to her chest, earning cheers from the crowd.
[Lin Xin, Emotional Points +1] [Zhang Jianguo, Emotional Points -1]
Somehow, a mysterious panel of judges began animatedly debating and tallying scores in the crowd.
When the duel officially began, deciding the competition format became a challenge. Most of the audience were young children, budding blossoms of the nation. A match that was too violent or aggressive would be inappropriate. Even a “trash-talking” segment was deemed unsuitable, replaced by the motto “Friendship First, Competition Second.” Not to mention that Lin Xin and Zhang Jianguo had no real friendship.
