Suddenly Became a Boy – What Should I Do? - Chapter 72.1
“Big bro, have some tea. It’s premium Lipton honey green tea.”
Lin Xin eyed Zhang Shan, the dorm leader he had just met today, suspiciously before glancing at the steaming cup of tea in his hand. He had no idea what Zhang Shan was planning, but the tea smelled enticing. Shrugging, Lin Xin nodded and said, “Alright, thanks.” He took the cup with his free hand—the one not holding his phone—and took a cautious sip.
“Hissss!” Lin Xin immediately hissed in pain, flinging the cup aside.
“D*mn, that’s scalding!”
Even as he dealt with the burning sensation on his tongue, Lin Xin kept sucking in quick breaths. He didn’t let it faze him, keeping a cheerful expression as he spoke to Cheng Shiyin on the other end of the call. “Yeah, I have no idea how it happened, but suddenly I’m the dorm’s big brother.”
As if to confirm Lin Xin’s words, Li Wenbo chimed in from nearby, grinning sheepishly, “Big bro, here’s a fruit platter for you.”
Thinking the fruit might soothe his tongue, Lin Xin thanked him and reached out, only to find nothing in his hand. Turning to look, he realized Li Wenbo wasn’t holding any fruit at all—just an empty plate. Worse, he wasn’t even pretending. His ear was practically glued to Lin Xin’s phone, eagerly eavesdropping.
Lin Xin frowned and yanked the blanket over his head.
With Lin Xin under the blanket, the three roommates abandoned all pretense of subtlety, chattering noisily like flies. “Can you believe it? Even Lin Xin, who only recently joined the ‘man club,’ has a girlfriend. And here we are, born and raised men, still single.” After a brief exchange of self-pity, they heaved a collective sigh and patted each other’s shoulders for comfort.
A second later, they pressed their ears to the blanket again. Why wallow in self-pity when we can learn a thing or two about couple dynamics?
Yet, no sound came from under the blanket. “Do you think he fell asleep?” Zhang Shan asked.
“Or maybe he farted himself unconscious,” Li Wenbo joked before nudging Tan Ge. “Go check.”
Tan Ge, unfazed, picked up the discarded blanket and lifted one corner of the one covering Lin Xin. “Big bro,” he said with mock politeness, “your tea’s gone cold. Should I get you a refill?”
“Get lost!” Lin Xin kicked out, clutching his phone’s microphone to ensure Cheng Shiyin didn’t overhear him cursing. He was always mindful of his image in front of her.
Realizing it was Tan Ge behind the prank, Lin Xin hesitated and retracted his foot. This guy cries too easily. If Tan Ge shed tears, the other two would give Lin Xin death glares, questioning how he could be so heartless to hurt such a “pure and innocent boy.”
“How is it that someone so skilled at yanking down pants can also be such an angelic crybaby?” Lin Xin couldn’t make sense of it but knew he had to steer clear of Tan Ge altogether.
Lin Xin wondered why he had ended up in yet another gossip-filled dorm. The term “busybody” no longer felt gendered—it applied perfectly to his three roommates. Since Cheng Shiyin’s call started, the trio had circled him a dozen times in just thirty minutes, openly eavesdropping on his every word. Glancing at the shameless trio, Lin Xin sighed, flung the door open, and retreated to the balcony for some peace.
“What happened just now? It sounded noisy,” Cheng Shiyin asked repeatedly, her voice finally coming through to Lin Xin. “Is your signal bad?”
