Suddenly Became a Boy – What Should I Do? - Chapter 66.2
Lin Xin was still stammering over the phone, struggling to explain what had happened to him. His fragmented and confused explanations, oddly aligning with Lin Xin’s identity, convinced Lin Xin’s mother that this was just one of her daughter’s elaborate pranks. With this assumption in mind, she chatted with him on the phone while walking toward home. Unconsciously, she found herself near her front door. Naturally, she also noticed two figures awkwardly positioned—one squatting, the other standing—under the tree outside her house. Their terrible awareness of being observed made them hilariously conspicuous—even from her sneaky angle.
The one squatting on the ground held a phone, undoubtedly the one impersonating Lin Xin over the call. As for the tall, fair-skinned figure standing nearby, her graceful silhouette left no doubt that she was a beauty. If this was her Xin Xin, then she was truly a breathtaking “backview assassin.”
Lin Xin’s mother quietly approached the girl, tapped her on the shoulder, and said, “Lin Xin, what are you up to?”
The figure turned around slowly, and Lin Xin’s mother was instantly dazzled by the radiant beauty standing before her. She instinctively shielded her eyes with her hands, peeking through her fingers as if filtering the overwhelming glow.
This girl looked like a celestial being descended from heaven. No cosmetic surgery, no matter how expensive, could turn her daughter into such a stunning figure. She thought, “Wait… does this mean the person crouched on the ground with the rough voice is my daughter?” “Impossible. Isn’t that a man?” “Is today April Fools’ Day?”
Hearing her mother’s voice up close, Lin Xin froze mid-call, holding his phone stiffly in the air. His eyes darted to check on Cheng Shiyin, who had suddenly become the object of mistaken identity. As expected, even the usually composed Cheng Shiyin was rooted in place, finally stammering out a soft, “Hello, Auntie.”
“Are you Lin Xin’s classmate?” Lin Xin’s mother asked suspiciously. Internally, she thought, “No wonder Lin Xin can’t find a boyfriend if she spends all her time with such stunning classmates.”
Lin Xin wanted nothing more than to escape the situation. Instead, his legs carried him forward, and he found himself standing protectively beside Cheng Shiyin, unwilling to let her shoulder the awkwardness alone.
Lin Xin’s mother was chatting with Cheng Shiyin when her peripheral vision caught sight of someone slowly approaching. Her words trailed off as she froze, tears welling in her eyes. Suddenly, she charged at the figure, throwing her arms around him in a tight embrace. Overcome with emotion, she clung to him and cried out, “Where have you been all these years? Where did you disappear to? Darling.”

Lin Xin’s mother sobbed into his chest for a while before calming down enough to let go. Her grip, however, tightened even more. After wiping her tears, she turned to Cheng Shiyin and explained, “Sorry for the scene. This is Lin Xin’s father.”
Halfway through her sentence, she realized the absurdity of her own statement. Mumbling to herself, she added, “But how could she see him? Lin Xin’s father has been dead for years.” The joy of her imagined ghostly reunion was short-lived as she noticed the awkward stares of the two onlookers and the suffocating tension in the air.
Turning back to “Lin Xin’s father,” she was taken aback when he simply said, “Mom.”
At that moment, Lin Xin’s mother desperately reached for her heart medication.
As she swallowed a pill to steady herself, she struggled to process the bizarre scene unfolding before her. Clutching her chest dramatically, she lamented, “This is my fault. I shouldn’t have read or said those things. It’s all my fault!”
Lin Xin thought, “Wait, what? Mom, explain yourself. What things? What did you say? Are you secretly working for UC News?”
