Suddenly Became a Boy – What Should I Do? - Chapter 65.2
When all was done, she patted Lin Xin on the head. “Alright, open your eyes.”
Lin Xin obeyed, gazing into the mirror as his eyes filled with tears. His voice quivered as he whispered, “Papa…”
As Cheng Shiyin delicately applied her own makeup, the process surprisingly involved nearly as many steps as her work on Lin Xin earlier.
Meanwhile, Lin Xin, who had been using the edge of the mirror to examine his newly transformed face, found himself stunned. The resemblance between his current look and his father’s image was uncanny. Yet, as his gaze inadvertently shifted to Cheng Shiyin, his thoughts were entirely hijacked by her.
No matter how many times Lin Xin had seen her face, it never failed to leave him in silent admiration. “She’s so beautiful!” But this time was different.
Cheng Shiyin’s beauty had always been natural—effortlessly commanding attention wherever she went. When she wore makeup, it merely accentuated her allure, turning her into a vision of unparalleled elegance. But what she was doing now wasn’t just a simple touch-up or a playful disguise like the one she’d done for him. Instead, she meticulously enhanced every feature, amplifying her beauty to an almost magnetic degree.
Lin Xin could only watch, completely mesmerized, as if it were their first meeting all over again. Words failed him, and his wide-eyed expression was a testament to his awe.
Catching sight of Lin Xin’s dumbfounded face, Cheng Shiyin gave a soft smile. “Pretty, isn’t it?” she teased, though she already knew the answer.
She didn’t wait for a reply. “Alright, let’s head out.” She gently patted Lin Xin’s head, trying to snap him out of his daze. While she appreciated his reaction, it wasn’t exactly practical for what lay ahead. Unfortunately, the pat had no effect.
Cheng Shiyin gently covered Lin Xin’s eyes with her hands. Only then did she hear him let out a long breath, mumbling, “Finally, I can breathe again.” Apparently, he’d been so overwhelmed by her beauty that he’d forgotten to inhale.
But as soon as she removed her hands, Lin Xin reverted to his awestruck state, his expression frozen in a mix of admiration and disbelief. He looked like a robot stuck on the word “stunning,” incapable of processing anything else.
Cheng Shiyin sighed, wondering what she was going to do with him.
“If I wore a wedding dress,” she mused, “would he just keel over on the spot?”
To save Lin Xin—and perhaps herself—further trouble, Cheng Shiyin handed him a pair of sunglasses. They managed to shield him from the faintest fraction of her overwhelming beauty, which was just enough to get them moving. Unfortunately for passersby, they weren’t so lucky. A few too many people walked into poles and parked vehicles while staring at her, paying no mind to the “chunk of coal” standing beside the goddess.
Lin Xin, noticing the growing chaos, finally pieced together her strategy. “Is this the ‘shadow hides under the light’ principle?” he asked.
Cheng Shiyin simply smiled, her radiant grin making her look even more dazzling.
Luckily, Lin Xin’s hometown wasn’t far from their university, and they could take a coach bus to get there. Otherwise, Lin Xin’s heavily altered appearance would have failed every facial recognition system at high-speed train stations or airports. If not for the bus, their only option might have been to empty their wallets for a private car ride.
The day had drained them emotionally, leaving them both exhausted. As soon as they boarded the bus, Lin Xin and Cheng Shiyin leaned against each other and fell into a peaceful sleep. Meanwhile, the other passengers silently grumbled to themselves, “Why does the goddess have a boyfriend who looks worse than me?”
Upon arriving, the two squeezed into a rickety local rickshaw, a stark contrast to Cheng Shiyin’s grace. After a quick stop at a nearby delivery hub to pick up pre-ordered gifts, they finally stood in front of Lin Xin’s family home.
Lin Xin hesitated briefly before pulling Cheng Shiyin aside, crouching behind a nearby tree. Taking a deep breath, he pulled out his phone and dialed.
“Mom, are you home right now?”
