By now, Lin Xin was accustomed to these transformations. Skipping the clichéd question, “What’s happening to me?” he simply concluded, “I’ve grown taller again.”

From his desk drawer, Lin Xin pulled out his trusty tape measure, an item that had seen more action lately than he’d ever anticipated. He checked his height multiple times with the tape measure, taking careful readings until the final number registered—178 centimeters.

“What?! I’m 178 now?!” Lin Xin exclaimed, shocked. Somehow, in the span of one night, he had grown over 10 centimeters. He began to wonder if he was on the path to breaking the Guinness World Record for the tallest human being.

Lin Xin glanced at his noticeably shorter pant legs. As his gaze shifted downward, an amusing thought popped into his mind. “Should I measure you too, old buddy?”

Ever since Lin Xin had metaphorically stepped into a new world, his “little brother” had earned the upgraded title of “old buddy.” Their relationship had skyrocketed in closeness, like a pair of lifelong best friends. So much so that from the moment Lin Xin woke up, he felt an irresistible urge to “shake hands” with his old buddy.

However, Lin Xin remembered an article he had read online about someone who reportedly died after mast*rbating 43 times in a single day. Given his public “performance” the previous day, he decided it was best to resist the temptation. After all, moderation and sustainable development were the way forward.

Meanwhile, Cheng Shiyin hadn’t drunk anything the previous night, so she didn’t wake up with a hangover. Instead, she vividly remembered every extraordinary detail of what had happened.

She had watched as Lin Xin’s ankles slowly emerged from his pant legs, the shoes on his feet slipping off as they could no longer fit. His exposed heels looked like those of Cinderella’s stepsisters trying on the glass slipper. The androgynous softness of Lin Xin’s face had suddenly sharpened into distinct features, with even a faint stubble adorning his jawline, lending him a slightly rugged charm.

Before her eyes, Lin Xin’s once-loose pant legs tightened as new muscle formed, stretching the fabric to its absolute limit—much like the Hulk’s pants. (Although, let’s face it, the Hulk’s pants were surprisingly stretchy and didn’t actually tear.)

“Werewolf?!” the restaurant owner gasped, clutching his mouth in shock. Despite his balding head, his reaction resembled that of a middle schooler fully immersed in their chūnibyō phase.

Hearing the owner’s exclamation, Cheng Shiyin immediately realized the gravity of having a third party witness Lin Xin’s transformation. Without hesitation, she grabbed the nearest pair of chopsticks and held them to the owner’s throat, radiating the authority of a mob boss delivering a warning. “If anyone other than the two of us hears about this,” she said darkly, “next time, it won’t just be chopsticks at your neck.”

The owner was so terrified by Cheng Shiyin’s fierce demeanor that he stammered his agreement to keep the secret. Inwardly, though, his romantic heart was aflutter. “Oh,” he thought, “this love story just got even better!” He even generously lent Cheng Shiyin a delivery cart to help transport Lin Xin back to the dormitory.

Whatever needed to be discussed could wait until Lin Xin woke up.

But deep down, Cheng Shiyin already knew the reason behind Lin Xin’s sudden and dramatic transformation. It was her acceptance of him—whether he was male or female. By opening her heart to Lin Xin, she had helped him embrace his true self, both emotionally and physically. Lin Xin was no longer weighed down by shame or embarrassment over his changes. He would no longer question his identity or his worthiness of love.

Because now, he had experienced true love.

Whether male or female, Lin Xin was just Lin Xin—the only Lin Xin Cheng Shiyin loved.

Author’s Note
This chapter is as short as Lin Xin is tall now—what a stark contrast!
