This Novel will be a very short one with only about 42 chaprters in total. Still translating will be a bit slow since I'm only shoving it into any available schedule I have. For some reason, even when I said I wanted to take a break, when one novel finished I still stalk the NU forums for novel pick-up updates.

Fang Baijing’s mind was scattered. He hadn’t heard what Fu Feng said, only felt the tears constantly falling. After it ended, as Fu Feng held him, he finally understood what Fu Feng had just asked.

“Do you not want to marry me?”

Fang Baijing’s nose was still red, his face buried in Fu Feng’s neck and shoulder. He finally processed the question. He hadn’t yet recovered from the intense feeling of dizziness, only managing a vague “Ah.”

At this moment, Fang Baijing was always at his most compliant. The mist had just cleared from his eyes, but when he looked up at people, they were still crystal bright, like fine black obsidian.

Fu Feng couldn’t resist. He lowered his head and placed a kiss on Fang Baijing’s eyelids, his nose touching Fang Baijing’s. He repeated the question: “Yangyang, will you marry me?”

His parents’ fragile marriage stood before Fu Feng. Before he was eighteen, Fu Feng thought he would never marry in his life, not even for a business alliance. But then he met Fang Baijing. His thought shifted from not wanting to marry to really wanting to marry, really wanting to marry Fang Baijing.

People are perhaps always greedy. At first, he only wanted Fang Baijing to be by his side. Later, he hoped Fang Baijing would love him. Now, he wanted to marry Fang Baijing.

Fang Baijing finally grasped the situation this time. He was startled, and his subconscious first reaction was to refuse: “I don’t want to.” He was only twenty-one. Up until now, the concept of marriage had never even appeared in Fang Baijing’s mind. He hadn’t even thought he would ever have a wedding day.

Fu Feng’s palm was resting on the back of his neck, gently stroking it.

Fang Baijing’s heart tightened. He remembered Fu Feng’s initial question—”Do you not want to marry me?” Fu Feng was always different with him than with others. Fang Baijing even felt that Fu Feng was sometimes a little tentative when facing him. This caution was hard to detect but seemed to exist.

This feeling was vague, and Fang Baijing wasn’t quite sure, but after a moment of silence, he explained softly, “We’ve only been together for about half a year… isn’t talking about this a bit too soon?”

Fu Feng countered, “We’ve already met the parents.” In Fu Feng’s understanding, this was already the final step before marriage.

Fang Baijing was genuinely not mentally ready to marry Fu Feng yet. He felt he had only recently started a proper relationship with Fu Feng, and talking about marriage was truly too early.

He found an excuse: “… Well, I haven’t met your dad yet.”

“You want to meet him?” Fu Feng frowned slightly. “We can arrange that.”

“I don’t want to!” Fang Baijing said. “I feel like your dad will slaughter me.”

“I’m here, he won’t.”

“…”

Fu Feng looked him in the eyes and asked calmly, “Do you just not want to marry me?”

“…” Fang Baijing’s silence was more profound. His inner thoughts were being exposed by Fu Feng, and he was still being held in Fu Feng’s arms.

He didn’t answer but leaned over and kissed Fu Feng’s lips.

“Fang Baijing,” Fu Feng used his full name. “You’re feeling guilty again.”

“Then what do you want me to do?” Fang Baijing suddenly gave up and threw his hands up. “Can you please think about this with a normal person’s mindset? It’s completely inappropriate for us to get married right now!”

He and Fu Feng were fundamentally two mismatched puzzle pieces, and they were still in the process of fitting together. How could they possibly get married?

Fang Baijing felt that marriage was a very serious matter and shouldn’t be brought up lightly. He also couldn’t understand why Fu Feng, who usually handled things with logic over emotion, was always so impulsive about this particular issue.

“Even if we get the certificate abroad, it doesn’t really have any practical… effect. If one day we break up, it’s just—”

Before Fang Baijing could finish his sentence, his mouth was covered by Fu Feng’s hand. He stared wide-eyed at Fu Feng.

Fu Feng lowered his gaze and said, “We won’t break up.” He released Fang Baijing’s mouth and repeated, “We won’t break up.”

Fu Feng’s eyes looked slightly dangerous. Fang Baijing pushed on nervously: “Then… what if one day you stop loving me?”

“I won’t,” Fu Feng stared at him, his gaze deep as an ancient well. “I’ve loved you for seven whole years. Why would I stop loving you?” Seeing Fang Baijing’s lips slightly parted, Fu Feng covered his mouth again. He said softly, “I don’t know how other people love someone, and I don’t know how long other people love someone for. But the one thing I can guarantee is that I will love you for a very, very long time.”

He didn’t say “forever,” because Fu Feng felt he would love Fang Baijing for longer than “forever.”

Fang Baijing finally struggled free from Fu Feng’s palm. His breathing was heavy from a lack of air: “But I…”

“I know you feel that my love for you is greater than your love for me, right?” Fu Feng guessed what Fang Baijing was about to say. “It doesn’t matter. I don’t mind.” True fairness is difficult to achieve in love. The fact that he was with Fang Baijing now made him feel that everything was right.

Fu Feng suddenly reached out and turned off the light. They had been up late; it was nearing midnight now.

“**… Fu Feng,” Fang Baijing asked hesitantly, “Are you angry?”

The air was silent for a few seconds before Fu Feng gave him his answer.

—”No.”

Fang Baijing slept restlessly that night. He kept feeling like he had let Fu Feng down, so his heart felt heavy, as if a stone was pressing on it.

He didn’t know how to face Fu Feng, so even when he heard Fu Feng stir in the morning, he kept his eyes shut, pretending to be asleep.

While pretending, Fang Baijing actually drifted back to sleep until he was awakened by the vibrating phone beside him.

“Baijing, are you awake?” Cai Jie’s voice was normal. “The director called me. You passed the audition for the male lead role.”

“I passed?” Fang Baijing should have been excited to secure a role he liked, but he found he couldn’t muster the energy.

“Yes, you did.” Cai Jie was quite happy. “Oh, also, the TV drama you shot with Chen Yun has aired. Remember to repost it on Weibo.”

“Okay.”

Cai Jie asked, “Are you in a bad mood? Why do you sound so flat?”

“…” Fang Baijing couldn’t really say if he was in a good mood or not. He just offered a casual excuse: “No, I just woke up.”

He hung up the phone and pulled out his Weibo account, which he hadn’t logged into for a long time. Fang Baijing always managed his own Weibo. He immediately reposted the message that the production crew had @-ed him in.

The post was full of his stills. The one placed centrally was from his final scene—the moment he willingly died for the female lead. What was he thinking when he filmed that scene? Fang Baijing remembered wondering at the time: Could someone really love another person that much?

For some reason, Fang Baijing suddenly felt a tightness in his chest, as if a small, subtle emotion was stuck there. The first person he thought of was surprisingly Fu Feng. Fu Feng seemed willing to do anything for him.

Fang Baijing’s feelings for Fu Feng had been constantly changing. When he first got together with Fu Feng, he was indeed reluctant, but Fu Feng had never done anything to hurt him. That had been true from the beginning until now. After gradually accepting Fu Feng, he had also slowly started liking Fu Feng more and more.

Habit is a terrifying thing. In just a month, Fang Baijing had become used to the feeling of being with Fu Feng. Fu Feng’s care for him was meticulous. Fang Baijing felt that with his personality, if Fu Feng continued to spoil him, he might truly become utterly unrestrained.

For a brief instant, a thought flashed through Fang Baijing’s mind.

—Damn it, why don’t I just marry him already?

Fang Baijing was startled by his own thought. He immediately got up and changed clothes. He put on his hat and mask.

When Fang Baijing sat in the driver’s seat, he hesitated again. He sat alone for ten minutes. Winter had arrived, and Fang Baijing hadn’t turned on the heat. After sitting for a while, his hands and feet felt cold.

Fang Baijing decided to call Fu Feng’s assistant. He had the assistant’s number for a long time, but this was the first time Fang Baijing had actively contacted him.

“Hello, I’m coming to see Fu Feng in a little while. Could I trouble you to inform the front desk?”

The assistant must have vividly remembered their last encounter. He stammered, “Uh… Is Mr. Fāng coming to see CEO Fu?”

“Yes.”

The assistant was silent for a second and then said, “Okay, then you just need to state your last name at the front desk later.”

Fang Baijing thanked him very politely: “Okay, thank you.”

Led by the front desk, Fang Baijing took Fu Feng’s private elevator directly.

He had been on this elevator before, but his mood was completely different this time. He walked up to the office door. Worried that someone might be inside, Fang Baijing politely knocked. Only when Fu Feng’s voice sounded did he push the door open and walk in.

Fu Feng’s office was empty. He was alone, reviewing documents. The assistant must have notified him in advance, as Fu Feng showed no surprise upon seeing Fang Baijing.

Fang Baijing’s steps were hesitant. The office heating was strong, and he felt an inexplicable heat inside. He simply took off his down jacket and held it in his hand.

He shuffled over. When he reached Fu Feng, Fang Baijing suddenly reached out and pushed the chair Fu Feng was sitting in. His movement was somewhat similar to Fu Feng’s move last time, but his next step was vastly different.

Fang Baijing sat on Fu Feng’s lap. This posture made him slightly taller than Fu Feng, and he lowered his head to kiss Fu Feng.

Fang Baijing’s ears were red, from the heat and the excitement.

“I didn’t say… I didn’t say I wouldn’t marry you,” Fang Baijing spoke out one word at a time. “I just said… it’s too soon right now.” Since he had decided to have a relationship with Fu Feng, they had to do it properly, so it didn’t look like he was just playing with Fu Feng.

Fang Baijing’s body uncontrollably slid down, but he was supported by Fu Feng.

Fu Feng leaned in and kissed him. He was kissed so hard that he couldn’t help but lean back, but Fu Feng embraced him every time.

After a long while, the kiss ended.

Fu Feng said softly, “I understand.”

He didn’t tell Fang Baijing that if Fang Baijing hadn’t come, he was already prepared to kidnap Fang Baijing and take him abroad to get married.
