Spoiled - Chapter 29
Author’s Note: I want CEO Fu to go a little crazy next chapter (X)
Fang Baijing had done such a foolish thing, and being naturally thin-skinned, he felt even more embarrassed. But Fu Feng seemed to have no prejudice against his idiotic behavior, or perhaps he genuinely believed it was exactly the kind of thing Fang Baijing was capable of doing.
He unconsciously started avoiding Fu Feng. When Fu Feng entered the bedroom, he ran to the study. When Fu Feng entered the study, he ran to the bedroom.
But Fang Baijing’s attempts to hide were unsuccessful. Fu Feng could always catch him and ask calmly, “Why are you hiding from me?”
Fang Baijing stopped struggling. Anyway, when he was with Fu Feng, he was cooperative enough to not mention the events of the previous days, simply pretending those things never happened.
But Fang Baijing hadn’t given up hope.
When Sister Cai urged him to return the scripts, he couldn’t resist opening the script again.
This time, Fang Baijing truly couldn’t find anything new; the rest of the script detailed the female lead’s partially successful, partially failed escape attempts. Fang Baijing hesitated, but decided to study them anyway.
He held the script and read attentively. Finally, Fang Baijing licked his lip and started taking notes in his phone’s memo app.
He learned from the lesson of his previous rushed failure and planned to formulate a meticulous strategy this time.
But before deciding, Fang Baijing couldn’t help but wonder—did he really want to run away? What was the meaning of running away?
Fang Baijing sat by the window, agonizing for a long time. By the time the sun set, he decided he had to try. This whole ordeal might let Fu Feng know that they were truly unsuitable for each other, or perhaps separate them for a while, giving Fu Feng time to calm down.
While others learn from their mistakes, Fang Baijing repeated his past errors. Although Fu Feng had said what he said last time, Fang Baijing couldn’t stop feeling guilty today. When he saw Fu Feng, he still averted his gaze.
“Fang Baijing,” Fu Feng sat down beside him and asked, “What are you feeling guilty about this time?”
Guilt, ironically, made his voice louder. Fang Baijing raised his voice: “Guilty? Where did you see me being guilty? Stop talking nonsense!” He lifted his chin, glanced at Fu Feng, and emphasized, “I’m not guilty at all.”
“Then what bad thing are you going to do now?”
“I’m not!” Fang Baijing, having his secret exposed, stormed out, his ears burning red. “Believe whatever you want!”
Fu Feng was long used to Fang Baijing’s occasional tantrums. He raised his cup and took a sip of tea, watching Fang Baijing’s back quietly disappear from view. Only then did he unhurriedly tell the bodyguards to keep a close eye on Fang Baijing recently.
Fang Baijing spent several days figuring out how to escape from the bodyguards’ sight. He lay in bed, brainstorming many methods, and finally found inspiration by flipping through photos of the script on his phone.
After much thought, he called Xiao Jing. Fang Baijing’s tone was serious: “I need to run away.”
Xiao Jing was shocked: “What’s wrong? Escape from what? Who did something to you?”
Perhaps from reading too many scripts recently, Fang Baijing naturally delivered the line: “I need to escape from Fu Feng.”
“What happened! I thought you two were doing well recently?” Xiao Jing was extremely confused. “If you wanted to escape, why didn’t you do it sooner?”
“Mind your own business!” Fang Baijing said, “I need you to help me.”
Xiao Jing’s first reaction was brotherly: “You won’t drag me down, will you? Fu Feng won’t kill me if he finds out, right?”
“No,” Fang Baijing scoffed lightly. “Don’t think of him like he’s part of the mafia.”
Xiao Jing countered, focusing on the main point: “If he’s not part of the mafia, why are you running?”
“…” Fang Baijing lowered his gaze, making his tone pitiful, “You don’t know, Fu Feng is holding me captive.”
“What! He’s holding you captive! Didn’t you just go out to an event a few days ago?”
Fang Baijing took a deep breath and demanded, “Xiao Jing, whose side are you on, mine or Fu Feng’s?”
“…yours, I guess, reluctantly.”
“Alright, fine. He only intends to hold me captive, but now no matter where I go, he has people watching me, and he put a GPS tracker on my phone.” Fang Baijing played the victim: “Xiao Jing, help me out.”
This time, Xiao Jing hesitated for a long time before agreeing: “Tell me how I can help you.”
“Come,” Fang Baijing said, “I’ll tell you my plan first. You help me prepare 5,000 yuan in cash, a mobile phone with a new SIM card, and a few sets of clothes. Remember to include pajamas, and shoes. You don’t need too many shoes, two pairs are fine: one pair of slippers and one pair of athletic shoes. If it’s convenient, can you also get me a laptop? A gaming laptop. You don’t need a separate keyboard—”
Fang Baijing was interrupted by Xiao Jing: “Are you going on vacation, for God’s sake?”
“No,” Fang Baijing asked, confused, “Aren’t these all necessities?”
“Is a computer a necessity too?”
“I’ll definitely be bored there,” Fang Baijing said. “I need spiritual sustenance.”
Xiao Jing suppressed his anger: “I’ll get everything ready for you except the computer. But I really don’t understand, where are you planning to run to, and what do you plan to do after you run?”
Fang Baijing mentioned a city name that Xiao Jing had never heard of. Answering the second question, he stammered, “I… I haven’t figured it out either. I’ll just run first.”
Xiao Jing snapped, “How the hell am I supposed to help you like this?”
“Are you going to help or not?” When the soft approach failed, Fang Baijing took a hard line. “If you don’t help, I’ll tell your dad about you breaking his antique back in high school.”
“I’ll help!” Xiao Jing gritted his teeth. “We’re brothers, how could I not help?”
Based on his week-long study of the script, Fang Baijing arranged to meet Xiao Jing in the busiest night market in Beicheng. It was nighttime and a weekend, so the crowds were even heavier. He deliberately chose a time when Fu Feng was in a meeting, with only one bodyguard following him.
Xiao Jing sat with him at an outdoor barbecue stall. On the table was a small bag that Xiao Jing had brought.
Xiao Jing was happily eating skewers, but Fang Baijing sat there fully bundled up. He was a little nervous and sweating.
Fang Baijing looked back at the bodyguard. There was only one. He whispered, “Ready?”
“Of course,” Xiao Jing raised an eyebrow. “I’m much more reliable than you.”
Fang Baijing said skeptically, “Then I’ll trust you for a bit. When can I make my move.”
“Wait a little longer,” Xiao Jing offered a skewer, asking, “Aren’t you having one?”
Fang Baijing couldn’t eat anything right now. He waved his hand, refusing, “You eat by yourself.”
Xiao Jing happily ate alone without a care in the world.
Before Fang Baijing was mentally prepared, Xiao Jing kicked the chair out from under him: “Run!”
Fang Baijing instinctively ripped off his coat, grabbed the bag, and ran wildly. He looked back as he ran, seeing the bodyguard surrounded by a group of elderly women.
As he ran, he pulled a hat from the bag and put it on, then pulled out a brand new jacket from the bag and put that on too.
The night market streets twisted and turned. Fang Baijing didn’t even know which path he was taking, let alone the bodyguard following him.
Fang Baijing’s heart pounded fast. He burst out of a narrow alley and saw a taxi pulled over to the side. He quickly yanked the door open and got in. Before he could catch his breath, Fang Baijing said, “Driver, to the Passenger Transport Center.”
The driver, long accustomed to such situations, hit the gas and drove towards the center.
Fang Baijing leaned back against the seat, exhausted. He checked the contents of the bag, pulling out the wallet Xiao Jing had given him, and breathed a sigh of relief. Xiao Jing was reliable after all; at least he brought all the money.
Xiao Jing had stored the suitcase at the Passenger Transport Center in advance.
Fang Baijing retrieved the case and went to buy tickets. Learning from the female lead, he deliberately used his ID to buy several tickets to different destinations. The city Fang Baijing wanted to go to was City Z. He checked the departure time beforehand, and the bus was leaving right after he arrived.
He had never taken a long-distance bus before and felt a little strange getting on. He fumbled his way to his seat. The bus carriage was noisy. There were mothers holding children and old men talking loudly. The seat next to Fang Baijing was quickly taken by an old man. He must have just smoked, as he smelled strongly of cheap tobacco. The moment he sat down, he spread his legs wide as if he were at home and pulled out his phone to make a call.
Fang Baijing frowned, then decided it was better to avoid trouble, and held his breath.
The trip from Jingcheng to City Z would take four hours. The bus was noisy at first, but gradually, as the sky darkened, the carriage quieted down.
Fang Baijing leaned against the window and drowsily fell asleep, waking up constantly as his head bumped against the glass. He woke up with a sore back and aching muscles.
When Fang Baijing finally got off the bus, his legs were useless, his arms felt heavy, and his neck was stiff with pain. But Fang Baijing’s bad luck seemed to have just begun. It was already midnight in City Z, and the bus he had taken was the last one for the day. There were no taxis left at the Passenger Transport Center.
Fang Baijing sighed deeply, used his phone to navigate to the nearest inn, and dragged his aching legs for half an hour to get there.
Standing in front of the dilapidated inn, Fang Baijing hesitated for a long time before steeling himself and rushing inside.
The room in the inn reeked of a sour stench the moment he stepped in. The quilt was yellowed. Fang Baijing covered his nose and took a long time to reluctantly accept the reality. He comforted himself, thinking he could just sleep in his clothes.
But he didn’t dare use the towels or cups in the room.
Fang Baijing asked the front desk where the nearest supermarket was and walked in the direction she pointed, dragging his sore legs. The road was very dark, with streetlights flickering on and off.
Fang Baijing’s shoulder was suddenly bumped by someone. A shifty-eyed young man with dyed yellow hair mumbled “Sorry.”
Fang Baijing instinctively replied, “It’s fine.” After walking a short distance, Fang Baijing suddenly realized and reached into his pocket. His wallet had been stolen! That meant he was now penniless.
In the chilly autumn wind, the penniless Fang Baijing stood on the rough path, staring blankly for ten minutes. Desperate and helpless, he squatted down, leaning against a wall. Fang Baijing sniffled. He was on the verge of breaking down.
If he had another chance, he would absolutely not have done this. He had never endured such hardship since childhood, had never stayed in a hotel like this, and certainly had never had his money stolen by someone late at night.
Fang Baijing thought he must be insane. Why did he pull off this stunt? In the end, he was the one suffering!
He finally understood the meaning of no zuo no die (you won’t die if you don’t seek death).
As he thought, his eyes started to turn red. Fang Baijing had been quite defiant when running away, but now he was truly exhausted by the ordeal. Fu Feng liked him and would unconditionally indulge him and treat him well. Why was he suffering here?
He entered Fu Feng’s number into his new phone. He was somewhat grateful that he at least knew Fu Feng’s number by heart.
“Fu Feng.” Fang Baijing felt a little nervous, carefully calling Fu Feng’s name. He held back his sniffles and said, “Come pick me up and take me home.”
Never mind whether he and Fu Feng were truly a good match. Their compatibility wasn’t just his problem. Since he couldn’t resist, and resistance was pointless, why not just enjoy it?

This Novel will be a very short one with only about 42 chaprters in total. Still translating will be a bit slow since I'm only shoving it into any available schedule I have. For some reason, even when I said I wanted to take a break, when one novel finished I still stalk the NU forums for novel pick-up updates.
