This Novel will be a very short one with only about 42 chaprters in total. Still translating will be a bit slow since I'm only shoving it into any available schedule I have. For some reason, even when I said I wanted to take a break, when one novel finished I still stalk the NU forums for novel pick-up updates.

Fang Baijing never expected Fu Feng to arrive so early.

He was still wearing the same clothes from the daytime, and the tie knot around his neck was slightly askew.

Fang Baijing recognized at a glance that he had carelessly tied it himself earlier.

Fu Feng walked over, first giving Xiao Jing a subtle nod of acknowledgment. His relationship with Xiao Jing was very ordinary—so ordinary that after half a year apart, Fu Feng merely gave a concise greeting: “Long time no see.”

His tone was cold, sounding as if he had no desire to see him at all.

His hand naturally rested on the back of Fang Baijing’s chair, as if marking his territory.

Fu Feng leaned down and asked, “Did you eat enough?”

Fang Baijing instinctively nodded.

“Then shall we go?”

“…” Fang Baijing hesitantly glanced at Xiao Jing across the table, then looked towards the direction of the private room, and finally nodded: “Let’s go back.”

Fu Feng gave an “Mm” and said goodbye to Xiao Jing on Fang Baijing’s behalf: “See you around.”

The moment they stood up from their seats, the other man happened to walk out. This time, he wasn’t in a blind spot. The three people ran right into each other.

However, they only saw him; there was still a long distance between them and the man.

The man’s expression seemed startled. Fang Baijing noticed he was looking at Fu Feng, and he subconsciously grabbed Fu Feng’s coat hem.

The man took a few steps forward, looking like he wanted to approach them for a conversation, but his steps slowed and then stopped under Fu Feng’s gaze.

Fang Baijing was led by Fu Feng into the elevator.

The elevator descended floor by floor. It wasn’t until the unique summer night breeze blew across his face that Fang Baijing gradually came back to his senses.

He couldn’t really recall the man’s face anymore; he could only remember it the instant he saw him.

Mainly, the way he looked when his head was smashed open was too miserable, so Fang Baijing couldn’t help but let out a relaxed laugh.

Speaking of which, his unfortunate connection with Fu Feng was primarily due to that idiot.

It was Xiao Jing’s birthday that day.

Before going, Fang Baijing thought it would be one of the usual parties or blowouts Xiao Jing dragged him to. Unexpectedly, this year’s birthday was different. Xiao Jing had chosen a low-key private club, simply booking two floors.

Fang Baijing didn’t hang out with the circle of rich second-generation kids in the capital, and he couldn’t blend in either, he was just closer with Xiao Jing.

That was because Fang Baijing thought Xiao Jing was a naïve sweet idiot.

However, Fang Baijing found most people here somewhat familiar. The young men who were usually reckless were all wearing formal attire today, and the girls, usually dressed up, were exceptionally beautiful tonight.

Fang Baijing looked down at the thick sweater he was wearing.

It was winter, and with the heating on inside, it wasn’t cold at all, but Fang Baijing was particularly sensitive to the cold.

“You came dressed like that?” a young master familiar with Fang Baijing smiled. “Didn’t Xiao Jing tell you?”

Xiao Jing, oblivious, clapped his hands: “F*ck! How could I forget to tell you that I invited a distinguished guest today!”

Fang Baijing raised an eyebrow indifferently: “It’s not your birthday, what does it have to do with other people?” He asked casually: “So, who is the distinguished guest?”

Xiao Jing said self-righteously: “Fu Feng! You might not know him, but didn’t you say you wanted to audition for a certain script last time? I remember he’s the investor. He usually doesn’t attend these kinds of events. I had to use a lot of sweet talk to get him to—”

Before he could finish, Fang Baijing gritted his teeth and said, “I’m truly grateful to you.”

Under Xiao Jing’s bewildered gaze, Fang Baijing suddenly started walking towards the door.

A few days ago, he had just splashed coffee all over Fu Feng’s face. In his eyes, Fu Feng was a lunatic. Now, Fang Baijing’s intuition told him he needed to keep his distance from Fu Feng.

“Hey! Fang Baijing!” Xiao Jing shouted and ran behind him, complaining, “Why are you so ungrateful for my good intentions!”

Fang Baijing’s pace quickened. He gave Xiao Jing a cold laugh: “I already said, thank you.”

Xiao Jing babbled after him: “What’s the matter? Are you so pure that you disdain using back channels?”

F*ck using a back channel. I’m more likely to be used as a back channel by him! Fang Baijing almost turned around and yelled.

He finally reached the door. Before his hand could even touch the doorknob of the banquet hall, the door was opened from the outside.

Fang Baijing stopped at the draft.

Standing at the door was Fu Feng. He was wearing a thick overcoat, the cashmere texture excellent, draping down to his calves.

It was snowing outside, and a few unmelted snowflakes rested on Fu Feng’s shoulder.

Fang Baijing was close to him, and the cold air from Fu Feng rushed over. Fang Baijing instinctively took a few steps back.

He quickly averted his gaze from Fu Feng, turning sideways to leave through the gap. Fang Baijing held his breath, very worried that Fu Feng would suddenly go crazy again.

The cracked wind outside was completely different from the warm air inside. Fang Baijing was only wearing a loose sweater and couldn’t withstand the unrestrained winter wind. He shivered from the cold.

Fu Feng didn’t move to let him pass. In the narrow space, Fang Baijing’s arm inevitably brushed past Fu Feng’s.

The breath Fang Baijing had let out only to be drawn in again was back in his throat.

Just as they passed each other, Fang Baijing’s wrist was suddenly grasped. Fu Feng’s fingers were cold like a block of ice.

Whether by coincidence or not, Fu Feng’s fingers rested on his vulnerable pulse point.

“It’s very cold outside,” Fu Feng applied a little pressure and pulled him back inside. “Come in.”

Fang Baijing felt flustered for the first time. Fu Feng was too difficult to understand. He couldn’t figure out whether Fu Feng was going to settle the score with him or try some new trick.

He stared at Fu Feng warily, wanting to shake off his hand, but found that the seemingly light pressure felt as heavy as a thousand pounds, making his wrist bone heat up.

Fang Baijing frowned coldly: “Let go.”

He didn’t want to save face for Fu Feng, but it was Xiao Jing’s birthday today, so he had to restrain his temper and give Fu Feng some courtesy. At most, he could give him a dirty look, but absolutely not break ties publicly.

But Fu Feng looked like he was challenging Fang Baijing’s bottom line. His fingers, now warmed, were still clamped around Fang Baijing’s wrist.

The atmosphere between the two was too subtle, and blocking the doorway drew more attention. Fang Baijing repeated with an unpleasant expression: “Take your hand off me.”

The open door closed with a dull “Thud.”

The dark light outside was cut off. Fang Baijing belatedly realized how close they were.

The black overcoat set off the white of his skin. In the distance close enough to hear breathing, Fu Feng’s distinct eyelashes entered his vision.

Fu Feng’s eyes narrowed slightly, his gaze fixed on him.

He tilted his head and quietly instructed the bodyguard behind him to close the door, his voice very low, only audible to Fang Baijing and himself.

Fang Baijing looked up in disbelief: “What do you want?”

Fu Feng finally released his hand. Against the sound of the violin playing in the banquet hall, he lowered his head and said clearly: “It’s cold outside. Don’t go out.”

“Are we close?” Fang Baijing laughed out of exasperation. “I really think you’re overly familiar.”

Fu Feng’s eyebrow twitched, then quickly smoothed out, so fast that Fang Baijing thought he had imagined it.

Fu Feng said composedly: “We will be.”

“The h*ll we will!” Fang Baijing forcefully shook his hand. “Get your dirty hands off me. You disgust me.” Still feeling unsatisfied, he glared and cursed in a whisper: “F*cking gay!”

Fu Feng, even after being cursed at like that, didn’t show any change in expression, only the force of his grip made it even harder for Fang Baijing to break free.

Because of Fu Feng, no one dared to get too close to them, only stealing glances between toasts.

Xiao Jing’s heart pounded. Seeing that Fang Baijing was about to lose his temper and physically strike, he bravely stepped up, forcing a smile to greet Fu Feng: “Young Master Fu! Long time no see!”

He stood in front of Fang Baijing and gave a strained laugh: “This is my friend. Did he offend you somehow?”

Fu Feng’s expression was cold, radiating a natural low-pressure atmosphere.

His gaze was like a flying bird, passing over Xiao Jing, who was separating them, and finally settling on Fang Baijing, tracing the tense line of Fang Baijing’s jaw.

“No.” Fu Feng finally spoke, and finally released his hand. His voice was like the low tone of a cello: “Have fun.”

After he left, Xiao Jing nearly collapsed onto Fang Baijing.

Fang Baijing pushed his head away in disgust, criticizing his lack of backbone: “Look how timid you were just now! Are you that scared of him?”

“So-so,” Xiao Jing muttered quietly. “I don’t know why he even hangs out with me. He’s always looked down on useless rich kids like us.”

Actually, you couldn’t really call it “hanging out,” but at least he and Fu Feng were somewhat acquainted.

Xiao Jing asked curiously: “Do you have a grudge with him?” He was extremely puzzled: “No way! What kind of feud could you two possibly have?”

Fang Baijing couldn’t possibly say that a man was interested in him. Annoyed, he blurted out: “I just didn’t like the look of him the first time I saw him, alright?”

“Is that all?” Xiao Jing whispered behind him. “Even though he looks quite punchable, he has the right to be arrogant!”

Fang Baijing’s head ached from his chatter. He stopped: “Stop bothering me. I’m fine by myself.” He pointed to the crowd: “Go bother them.”

Since he couldn’t leave now anyway, Fang Baijing just wanted to find a quiet place to stay for a while.

The first floor was too noisy, so Fang Baijing turned and walked towards the spiral staircase.

The stairs were carpeted, so there was no sound when he stepped on them. Fang Baijing stopped halfway up the stairs and leaned on the curved railing.

The sound of the violin stopped, replaced by the flowing sound of a piano, like moonlight. Fang Baijing looked down. Sitting in front of the huge black piano was a girl in a blue, floor-length dress.

Her delicate fingers danced across the keys.

The sound of the piano was like a warm spring, always able to soothe the soul, especially for Fang Baijing, who had grown up leaning over a piano.

Fang Baijing’s fingers unconsciously tapped a rhythm on the railing. His eyes curved into a smile. When the light shone down, it looked like starlight had been crushed in his eyes.

Suddenly, Fang Baijing’s ear twitched. He heard approaching footsteps behind him.

Fang Baijing turned his head. When he saw it was the inescapable Fu Feng, his originally relaxed and cheerful expression immediately changed.

Fu Feng stood not far from him, slowly walking up the steps. The space on the middle landing of the stairs was large, but Fu Feng insisted on crowding next to Fang Baijing.

He didn’t slouch bonelessly on the railing like Fang Baijing, he just gently rested his hand on it.

Fu Feng followed Fang Baijing’s gaze downward. His eyes were deep, yet somewhat empty.

He suddenly said, “I remember—” His voice paused, and then he continued, “Your piano playing is wonderful.”
