Chapter 5: Rosetta’s Tactical Assessment 4
Well, this is quite troublesome.
I never expected to be loved so intensely.
Honestly, my parents… Oh, I’m referring to my parents from my past life.
Given my parents’ carefree attitude, I was utterly bewildered when they embraced me upon seeing me, leaving me completely perplexed about what had just occurred.
They’re incredibly affectionate. My current parents are overly indulgent.
My father even went as far as stating that he wouldn’t allow the third prince to see me again, almost as if seeking reassurance for himself.
Perhaps due to this, the third prince distanced himself from me. And with the first prince’s fiancée deceased, I couldn’t help but wonder if that’s how I became his new fiancée.
So, I have to make sure to explain to them that Lionel isn’t to blame since I invited him.
Despite my efforts, my father remained upset. But I wanted us to keep the engagement with the charming Lionel going, so I explained firmly to help him see and accept our relationship.
But… Rosetta is getting too much love, don’t you think?
I can’t shake the feeling that she might turn into a spoiled daughter.
Maybe. I mean, if I joked and said, “I want my own kingdom,” they’d probably say, “Okay, let’s make it happen!” and try to get rid of the king. That’s how devoted they are.
Now that I remember everything, I won’t let that kind of future happen. But, well, this still being a coincidence with the game world might still be possible. So, for now, let’s set that aside.
So, with that in mind, I chose to have a meal with my parents.
I never imagined I would sit at a Western-style table.
What do I mean?
You know how in TV shows or manga, they depict a Western aristocratic dining table with a long table, the head of the household at one end, and the children at the other?
It was exactly like that.
I found myself seated at the opposite end, about 30 meters away from my parents, who sat facing each other at the head of the table, leaving me to dine alone.
From my position, all I could see ahead was the candelabra with three candles standing in the center of the table.
Isn’t it odd? I couldn’t even see my parents’ faces from where I sat.
Plus, I’m clueless about table manners, you know?
I frantically searched for Rosetta’s memories, but all I could recall was eating like a child, with no regard for proper table etiquette.
Mother, did you forget to teach me anything? Is it alright for me to misbehave? Should I just learn on my own?
This is heading straight for the bad ending, with me becoming the villainess, you know?
For now, I’m mimicking the old Rosetta, but I want to eat like a regular person, at the very least.
Afterwards, I’ll practice in front of the mirror and make corrections.
At least I have the knowledge from the forty years I’ve lived.
I really can’t tolerate eating with a fork. Is it acceptable to rely on modern table manners? Let’s definitely address that. Absolutely.
Soup should be sipped quietly.
After finishing the meal, when I returned to the room, I had some time before bath time.
So, at this moment, I’m grappling with ink-stained fountain pens on parchment.
Lionetta, who is beside me, is waiting for my call. It’s quite distracting when someone stands still like that, isn’t it? I won’t comment further as it wouldn’t be fair.
Oh, by the way, Lionetta. Her name resembles Lionel’s, but does she share any similarities with him? … Doesn’t seem like it. I thought as much.
Anyway, I’ll now compile a list as I try to remember the details about that game.
First off, the title: “The Princess Priestess of the Lionel Kingdom.”
The story of this game begins when the heroine arrives at the Lionel Kingdom’s school.
She’s the typical protagonist from a commoner background. She can use light magic, I think? So, she enrolled at the king’s request.
If I remember correctly, she bumped into the first prince on the first day of school.
Then, she apologized, and the prince said he was okay, and they became acquainted.
At that time, the prince should have been in his third year. The heroine and I are the same age, and even after the prince graduates, he often appears at the school or wanders around the town, always conveniently showing up to help the heroine. Prince, you should consider your potential as a future king more seriously.
So, Rosetta, who dislikes that, constantly argues with the heroine and treats her badly, similar to how new employees are bullied in an office.
Finally, she gets exposed by the prince in front of the entire student body, accused of breaking off the engagement, insulting the royal family, and other crimes. As a result, she’s arrested and executed for treason.
Well, I get it. Wanting to protect your fiancé from a sly cat trying to seduce them.
Here’s the thing: the heroine attends the school because it’s what the king wants, so Rosetta should treat her with the respect befitting her nobility, even more so than the other nobles. After all, mistreating her goes against the king’s wishes.
And he’s a prince. He can have concubines, so Rosetta could be the main wife, and the heroine could be the concubine. What about that, Prince?
And then, it turns out the second prince was an accomplice, so he gets confined, and his fiancée, Eleonora, gets exiled…
Huh? Oh? Um… Oh, I see.
That’s right! The second prince was plotting to assassinate the first prince to claim the throne. That’s why Martina was targeted for assassination in connection to that.
I recall in the first prince’s flashback scene, she was poisoned during dinner with only the royal family and his fiancée present, right?
I believe it was mentioned at that time that the second prince and Rosetta were involved in some kind of conspiracy.
Exactly, that’s the case. And that’s why Rosetta replaced Martina as the first prince’s fiancée.
…So, what happened to the third prince? He wasn’t in the flashback scene, right? There was no one beside Rosetta. Is Lionel just an illusion? A phantom prince?
