Chapter 3: Rosetta’s Tactical Assessment 2
As I delve into Rosetta’s memories, I can’t help but notice how incredibly self-centered she was. Oh, wait, that was me. Why am I distancing myself from it?
Father and mother seem to spoil their first daughter a lot. They even use honorifics when addressing her. It seems Rosetta’s thoughts are blending with mine at this point.
Now that my consciousness is back here, her excessive selfishness would likely fade away. So, there shouldn’t be any issues.
If things continue like this, I might end up becoming one of those girls in the villainess otome games who don’t perceive bad deeds as bad… huh?
Suddenly, a memory resurfaced.
The trigger for my memories was the keyword ‘villainess’ from otome games. I recollected a specific game.
Certainly, it was a popular otome game everyone was talking about. The title was… “Princess Priestess of the Lionel Kingdom.”
In this game, you assume the role of the romantic interest for the first prince of the Lionel Kingdom or the son of the prime minister. You confront the enemies menacing the kingdom, fall in love, and lead the kingdom to happiness. The soldiers were so, so weak, I remember that.
The northern border defense was wiped out, the kingdom’s defense forces were effortlessly scattered by the attacking enemy army. And then, the heroine, who had became a priestess, and the prince teamed up and triumphed together.
Honestly, even with soldiers gathering, it would be impossible for just the two of them to win. A mountain of dead bodies and a river of blood would be inevitable, wouldn’t it? It’s the kingdom’s downfall bad ending, isn’t it? Or perhaps the heroine and the prince are like warriors from the Musou series? Are they effortlessly defeating a thousand enemies? Is the heroine a muscular boot camper?
Now, you might be wondering why I recalled that game.
Indeed, when selecting the first prince as the villainess in that game, the one who hinders your progress is the villainess Rosetta. Yes, it was Rosetta Berningstadt, I think. A mere coincidence with the same name? Or… this face, it feels strangely familiar. If it was that world…
“Oh. Um, Lady Rosetta?”
Oh no, I messed up. There’s a maid in front of me right now. This is not the time for deep contemplation.
“I saw… didn’t I?”
“N-no, no, no! I haven’t seen anything!”
“Well, never mind. More importantly, what’s happening now?”
“Huh? W-what do you mean?”
Um, how should I say this? What do I want to know?
Ah, right, that’s it.
“So, um, how, uh, do Father and Mother know about what happened to me?”
“Oh. Yes, the master and mistress are relieved. They were in a state of great panic when you were brought into the mansion. The master immediately summoned a healing mage, appearing quite pale. The mistress was in a fluster—rather entertaining, I mean, not at all.”
Did this maid find it amusing to see my parents in a panic? If she gets caught, she might be in trouble, right? I won’t mention anything, as it would be rather pitiful.
Looking at the maid again, she has short, messy red hair. There’s an air of mischief about her, suggesting independence with a touch of a lotus leaf or a female leopard.
She might pass for the leader of a slum gang, but age-wise, that doesn’t quite align. Perhaps in her late teens or early twenties.
Are those freckles on the bridge of her nose intentional? It strangely suits her, and they add a cute touch.
I wonder if she intentionally selected this appearance. Come to think of it, the right-hand maid of the villainess Rosetta had a similar look.
She was quite ruthless, adhering to the villainess’s orders, and eventually betrayed her in the end. “Li-onetta, you too?” the villainess exclaimed… Could this girl’s name be..?
“Speaking of which, is ‘Lionetta’ the name you prefer?”
“Eh? Oh, yes. Why? Did you actually remember it?”
“…You’re my maid, so remembering your name is the least I can do.”
“R-really!? I thought you might not remember since you only called me ‘maid.'”
Wait a moment. The tone has become strange. What happened to the maid-like tone? It’s like she’s emphasizing her lowly status too much!?
“…Ah. I apologize. Please forget what I just said.”
Seems like she got too excited and forgot to use polite language. As I let out a small chuckle at her attempt to cover it up, Lionetta looks a bit apologetic.
“Also, Lionel-sama was scolded by the master and left worried about you. Is that okay? Even though Lionel-sama is the third prince, he’s still a member of the royal family.”
Royal… family!? Eh? Scolded by my father and left!? Isn’t that bad? Oh no, the tone I learned to talk with young people leaked out because this situation is too unexpected. Due to my odd mix of young people’s language and formal speech, it’s a bit messy.
Even during my office lady days, when taken by surprise or facing challenges, I’d inadvertently blurt out phrases like “for real?” or “yikes!” or even “no way!”.
I make an effort to be cautious, but in the heat of the moment, it slips out. I need to be more cautious.
Even if I express this in this world, it might lead to confusion, with responses like “What language is that?” or “What does it mean?”
