As the demonic cultivators of Heaven and Earth Abyss entered the outskirts of the Misty Forbidden Zone, a different scene was unfolding in the underground kingdom.

A figure sat beside a corpse, the eyes of the dead body gouged out. The figure sitting nearby had blood streaming from his eyes, his face twisted in pain and agony. This figure was Lin Che, who was in the process of fusing with the Heaven and Earth Eyes of Dongfang Xuan.

The difficulty of this fusion was far more terrifying than Lin Che had anticipated. The tremendous energy emanating from the Heaven and Earth Eyes surged into his body, making him feel as if he were being tortured to death by a thousand cuts. In that moment, Lin Che was tempted to give up. The pain was unbearable, seemingly worse than death itself.

But then, something in his mind hardened, and a look of stubborn determination appeared on his face.

“If Dongfang Xuan could do it, why can’t I?” he gritted his teeth and struggled on.

At that instant, a majestic thought entered his mind. Lin Che’s expression changed dramatically as he heard the words:

“To find resolve in the face of despair, one must understand that it is not the immediate crisis that crushes us but the fragility of our hearts. When one can break through pain, they step onto a higher path of cultivation. True gold is tested by fire, and true strength is revealed through suffering!”

This message was clearly transmitted by the Divine Tree.

In that moment, boom! Lin Che closed his eyes, his internal energy surging as if breaking through a bottleneck.

Meanwhile, in the outskirts of the Misty Forbidden Zone…

Upon hearing Xiao Cheng’s words, the other demonic cultivators paused, contemplating his statement.

“Xiao Cheng is right,” Chen Dong said. “We’re still in the outer regions of the Misty Forbidden Zone, which proves nothing. The real dangers lie in the inner regions. Only by stepping into the core can we truly glimpse the true face of the Misty Forbidden Zone. And that, after all, is the task the Empire has entrusted to us!”

“I’ve heard there are mysterious mist skeletons in the inner regions of the Misty Forbidden Zone. I’m looking forward to seeing them,” the rabbit-eared woman licked her lips in anticipation.

Soon, they reached the boundary between the outer and inner regions of the Misty Forbidden Zone. While other cultivators might hesitate, the demonic cultivators from Heaven and Earth Abyss didn’t pause for a moment and directly entered.

As they stepped into the inner region, they noticed the mist ahead swirling and then several figures formed from the mist appeared.

“Hmm? Not skeletons?” the demonic cultivators were surprised.

The creatures formed from the mist had complete bodies, not skeletal frames as the legends had suggested.

“What does it matter? Mist skeletons or mist beings, they all die the same,” the scorpion-pincer man snorted before attacking the closest mist being.

His scorpion pincers slashed forward, knocking the mist being back. Sensing an opportunity, the scorpion-pincer man attempted to cut the mist being in half.

To his shock, however, the mist being’s body quickly reassembled itself, and before the scorpion-pincer man could react, boom! He was sent flying back twenty yards by the mist being’s counterattack.

The mist being quickly pursued him, aiming to finish him off.

In the nick of time, a shadow flashed by. It was the rabbit-eared woman, who used her incredible speed to grab the scorpion-pincer man and pull him out of harm’s way.

The scorpion-pincer man was left panting, realizing how close he had come to death.

“These mist beings are indeed strange,” Xiao Cheng remarked coldly.

Neither Xiao Cheng nor Chen Dong had fully engaged in the fight yet. They were only using a small portion of their power to fend off the mist beings, but the other four members of their team were already struggling.

Seeing that the situation was becoming dire, Xiao Cheng opened a long, rectangular bundle on his back, revealing a peachwood sword that radiated a powerful aura. It was clearly a high-grade magical weapon.

Buzz!

In the next moment, the peachwood sword shot out, unleashing a terrifying golden storm that blew the mist being away. The scattered mist struggled to reform.

“Follow me,” Xiao Cheng commanded.

The demonic cultivators felt a surge of confidence.

“As expected from Xiao Cheng!”

“Haha, let’s push deeper into the core of the Misty Forbidden Zone.”

Their hearts were filled with anticipation. The inner regions of the Misty Forbidden Zone were a mystery, and they were finally about to uncover its secrets.

The demonic cultivators were indeed formidable. With Xiao Cheng leading the way, and later with Chen Dong’s even more terrifying power, they managed to break through the inner region’s defenses.

Chen Dong’s weapon, a black pearl, was even more fearsome than Xiao Cheng’s peachwood sword. Each time Chen Dong unleashed the pearl, it spewed black flames that seemed to counter the mist beings’ regenerative abilities.

Finally, they arrived at the edge of the Misty Lake. By now, the lake’s surroundings were teeming with over five thousand birds and beasts, and the water was filled with innumerable aquatic monsters.

The sight made the demonic cultivators gasp.

“Is this a demon kingdom?” they murmured in disbelief. At that moment, they finally understood why the Empire classified the Misty Forbidden Zone as a calamity-level forbidden zone. It was terrifying, truly terrifying. Only a team like theirs could have made it this far; any other team would have been annihilated.

Even Xiao Cheng’s expression was no longer calm. Only two members of the team remained unfazed: Chen Dong and Su Yao.

Chen Dong turned to Su Yao, saying, “I knew I wasn’t wrong about you.”

“You weren’t wrong about me?” Su Yao replied, puzzled.

“In the face of such a demon kingdom, ordinary people would panic. Only those with truly strong hearts, like you and me, can remain calm. I believe that, like me, you are filled with a desire for slaughter, and you need a fierce battle to unleash your emotions,” Chen Dong said.

Su Yao felt speechless. She was calm because she felt like she was home in the core of the Misty Forbidden Zone. Chen Dong had completely misread the situation.

While Chen Dong was speaking, the Snow Spirit Mink, Ironback Ape, White Spirit Python, Shadow Beetle, Purple-Gold Mosquito, and the spirit crow emerged from the shadows. Each of them exuded a powerful aura, at least at the second or third tier.

The demonic cultivators immediately grew tense.

A fierce battle erupted.

It didn’t take long before the demonic cultivators began to struggle. Just as things were about to turn dire, Chen Dong’s eyes flashed with a dark light. In the next moment, he spread his wings and took to the sky, spewing black flames in all directions.

The Misty Forbidden Zone’s guardians found themselves struggling against the powerful flames, unable to let them touch their bodies.

Just when it seemed that Chen Dong might be invincible, a sword light suddenly shot through the air. Chen Dong quickly formed a spear from the black flames and clashed with the sword light.
