In Nanjing City, many residents were still gazing in the direction of the Misty Area. The cyan pillar of light piercing the sky and the giant ginkgo tree’s phantom at its top were truly awe-inspiring.

Before they could recover from their shock, a faint shockwave emanated from the pillar of light, rapidly approaching Nanjing City. The residents could see it coming but had no idea how to respond.

Then, thirty breaths later, a terrifying explosion shook the sky. A massive mushroom cloud formed above Nanjing City, shrouding the entire city. The sheer magnitude of the explosion was evident.

At the center of the Heavenly Pivot Spirit Array Hall, a bronze compass floated. This was the core of the Heavenly Pivot Spirit Array, known as the Heavenly Pivot Compass. There were eight similar compasses in existence.

Crack!

Suddenly, a crack appeared on the Heavenly Pivot Compass. A terrifying shockwave spread from the crack, causing the entire Heavenly Pivot Spirit Array to collapse instantly. Fortunately, Li Qianjue was in the hall and managed to evacuate everyone just in time, preventing any casualties.

When they finally stopped and looked back at the now-ruined hall, their minds went blank. The Heavenly Pivot Spirit Array, which had operated for three thousand years, was destroyed!

In the Misty Area, after unleashing that attack, Su Mu also felt a wave of weakness. Although it seemed like it was just one of his leaves, maintaining the connection with it had consumed a vast amount of his spiritual energy.

“With my current strength, it seems I can only launch such an attack once,” Su Mu thought, gaining a deeper understanding of his power. Of course, this limitation was mainly due to the target being two hundred miles away. If it were within the Misty Area, he estimated he could fire dozens of such attacks without issue.

He didn’t dare be careless and quickly began to recuperate. It was clear that in the future, he should avoid using his spiritual energy recklessly unless absolutely necessary.

At this moment, Su Mu was unaware of the extent of the impact he had caused on the human race.

In Nanjing City, Li Qianjue dared not make any hasty decisions this time. The destruction of the Heavenly Pivot Spirit Array was a matter of such gravity that it could be considered a catastrophe. He quickly relayed the information to the Violet Sun Sect.

In truth, there was no need for Li Qianjue to report it, as the Violet Sun Sect was already aware of the situation.

In the Seven-Star Ancient Formation’s central hall at the Violet Sun Sect, the Seven-Star Compass floated in mid-air, emitting light that projected the scenes from the seven major arrays onto the opposite wall. This allowed the Seven-Star Core to monitor the spiritual energy fluctuations throughout the Violet Sun Sect.

But suddenly, the spiritual energy fluctuation map for the area around Nanjing County plunged into darkness.

“What’s going on?” Initially, they thought the Heavenly Pivot Spirit Array in Nanjing City had malfunctioned. As time passed and the screen remained black, they realized something significant had occurred.

At that moment, Li Qianjue’s report confirmed their suspicions: the Heavenly Pivot Spirit Array hadn’t malfunctioned—it had been destroyed! Even the Heavenly Pivot Compass had cracked. With the current array techniques in the Great Xia Empire, there was no way to repair the Heavenly Pivot Compass.

This incident was too significant to be covered up, not just for Li Qianjue but even for the Violet Sun Sect’s leader.

Half a day later, two figures arrived in Qingqiu City, accompanied by hundreds of people. The figure on the left was a middle-aged man with his eyes covered and holding a cane, while the figure on the right was a hunchbacked old man.

“Your humble servant greets Lord Grand Seer and Master Shi,” said Li Tianming, the leader of the Violet Sun Sect.

The middle-aged man with his eyes covered was none other than the Grand Seer of the Great Xia Empire, Dongfang Xuan. In the Great Xia Empire, six ministers served under the Xia Emperor: the Grand Steward, the Grand Guardian, the Grand Historian, the Grand Sacrificer, the Grand Exorcist, and the Grand Seer. The Grand Seer was responsible for overseeing all the great formations of the Great Xia Empire.

As such, the destruction of the Heavenly Pivot Spirit Array prompted Dongfang Xuan to arrive immediately. The hunchbacked old man was Shi Haoran, the Deputy Master of the Heaven and Earth Pavilion, a renowned expert in array techniques and one of the most famous array masters in the Great Xia Empire. Even Chen Jinyao, the chief craftsman of the Violet Sun Sect, had studied under him.

“Enough with the formalities. Has the Heavenly Pivot Spirit Array really been destroyed?” Dongfang Xuan’s face was somber.

“Yes,” Li Tianming replied. “I have already communicated with Nanjing City’s Lord, Li Qianjue, via spirit talisman. The Heavenly Pivot Spirit Array has indeed been destroyed.”

“Give me all the information,” Dongfang Xuan ordered. “Especially the monitoring footage from before the Heavenly Pivot Spirit Array’s destruction.”

“Yes,” Li Tianming nodded.

Soon, the Seven-Star Ancient Formation projected the footage. It showed a mysterious shockwave suddenly shooting from afar and striking the array’s pillar. The array’s pillar was destroyed in an instant, but the footage cut off afterward, so they couldn’t determine the source of the shockwave or what technique had been used.

“The Heavenly Pivot Spirit Array was capable of withstanding an attack from a middle grade third-tier entity,” Shi Haoran said slowly. “But this mysterious shockwave destroyed it in an instant. What level of being could be behind such power?”

His voice trembled as he spoke. It wasn’t just him; everyone else’s faces turned pale. Based on the available information, the entity behind this was at least in the upper grade of the third-tier, perhaps even approaching the peak of the third-tier. The thought was terrifying.

“We must determine who is responsible for this,” Dongfang Xuan said. “Before I arrived, I heard that just before the Heavenly Pivot Spirit Array’s destruction, there was a celestial phenomenon?”

Shi Haoran seized the opportunity to ask.

“That’s correct,” Li Tianming replied. “The celestial phenomenon occurred near the Ancient Wilderness Mountains, specifically within the Misty Forbidden Zone. Many people saw a cyan light shoot into the sky from the Misty Area, with the faint image of a giant ginkgo tree appearing above the clouds. At the time, the Heavenly Pivot Spirit Array recorded spiritual energy fluctuations in the Misty Area reaching four hundred thousand jie. Not long after, the Heavenly Pivot Spirit Array was destroyed.”

“So, the destruction of the Heavenly Pivot Spirit Array is likely connected to the Misty Area,” Shi Haoran speculated. “Could it be that the entity within the Misty Area realized it was being monitored and decided to destroy the array?”

“That seems very likely,” the others agreed.

“It’s just shocking how terrifying the being within the Misty Area must be,” someone remarked.

“Yes, we’ve clearly underestimated the beings in the Misty Area,” Li Tianming said. “We’ve always been curious about what governs the Misty Area. Now, it seems likely that it’s a ginkgo tree.”

The others were equally astonished. They had speculated about what ruled the Misty Area, mostly thinking it was some kind of monstrous beast. Some even thought it was the giant bear. No one expected it to be a tree.

“Deploy one-third of the troops stationed at other forbidden areas to monitor the Misty Area, but be careful not to leave any other areas vulnerable,” Dongfang Xuan ordered. “I will pull additional forces from the imperial court to cover the gaps.”

With that, he turned to leave.

The others were surprised.

“Lord Grand Seer, where are you going?” Li Tianming asked hurriedly.

“I’m going for a walk. You don’t need to follow,” Dongfang Xuan replied.
