“This is an opportunity. The sooner I prepare, the more benefits I can reap,” Su Mu thought to himself.

For any opportunity, the greatest gains come at the beginning. It’s like eating meat—at first, you get the big chunks, then the scraps, and finally, only the bones are left. Eventually, when the bones are gone, there’s nothing left at all.

So if he prepares now, he’ll be the one eating the big chunks of meat, and he’ll get the most out of it.

The location of the Earth Spirit Stalactite Cavern, in Su Mu’s view, is undoubtedly a place where the earth itself is relatively weak. This is why more spiritual energy seeps out from the depths of the earth, eventually forming the Earth Spirit Stalactite Cavern.

If this place experiences an eruption of spiritual energy from the depths, it will undoubtedly be one of the most intense sites of eruption. Without preparation, much of the spiritual energy released could dissipate into the world, yielding little benefit for him. But if he prepares in advance, the outcome will be different.

“Not only do I need to prepare myself, but I also need to ensure that my subordinates and the various beasts under my command are ready,” Su Mu declared.

The future world will undoubtedly be one of great competition. As such, he needs to make the Misty Forbidden Zone as strong as possible.

He is, after all, just a tree, and his individual competitiveness is limited. Therefore, he must cultivate his subordinates to be as powerful as possible.

Su Mu silently transmitted his thoughts to his subordinates, informing them of the cycles of heaven and earth.

Su Yao and Su Luo also received his mental message, instructing them to return to the Misty Forbidden Zone as quickly as possible.

“Lord Divine Tree,” a panicked voice suddenly echoed.

Su Mu’s mind stirred.

The voice came from the underground river. Shifting his consciousness there, he saw a stone turtle stretching its neck, its expression clearly anxious.

“What’s the matter?” Su Mu asked.

“Lord Sea Monk is being hunted and is severely injured,” the stone turtle reported.

Su Mu was shocked. The Sea Monk was his most powerful subordinate, nearly reaching the third tier. For something to hunt him down and injure him so badly—what could it be?

The stone turtle quickly swam deeper into the underground river.

“Lead the way,” Su Mu commanded, extending his consciousness to follow.

About three miles deep into the river, Su Mu sensed a terrifying wave of spiritual power. The waters ahead were in complete turmoil. At about six miles in, Su Mu finally saw the Sea Monk battling a formidable creature—a leech.

This leech was about 30 feet long, clinging to the Sea Monk and draining its blood. Despite the Sea Monk’s desperate attempts, it couldn’t shake the leech off.

“A third-tier creature,” Su Mu thought, startled.

The leech’s aura clearly indicated it was at the third tier. No wonder even the Sea Monk couldn’t fend it off.

“Lord Divine Tree,” the Sea Monk sighed in relief upon sensing Su Mu’s presence, knowing it was saved.

“Lord Divine Tree?” a sinister voice hissed, “Is there really someone who can save you? Who dares to hide in the shadows?”

The voice clearly came from the leech.

“You dare to be so arrogant in my territory?” Su Mu said, his amusement tinged with anger.

“Your territory?” the leech sneered. “I don’t care what you are—leave now. This Sea Monk offended me and must die. If you interfere, I’ll kill you too.”

Hearing this, Su Mu knew there was no need for further words. Although he couldn’t use his Phantom Snow Eyes in the water, his swordsmanship would suffice.

A leaf suddenly shot forward, carrying with it a deadly force even underwater. The leech, known for its strong defense, was instantly sliced in half upon contact with the leaf.

“Chirp!” The leech emitted an ear-piercing shriek.

Its vitality was astonishing. Even after being severed, it continued to writhe, as if it had become two separate leeches.

“Damn it, I’ll destroy you…” the leech’s voice thundered with rage.

“Hmph,” Su Mu snorted coldly.

More leaves darted out. This time, Su Mu unleashed his full fury. Under the relentless assault, the leech’s body was torn into countless fragments. No matter how strong its life force was, it couldn’t survive such a devastating attack.

“Damn, this world is just a newly revived ephemeral realm, yet it has such a terrifying existence? Just wait—when this world’s spiritual energy fully revives and merges with the spirit realm, I’ll return and annihilate you,” the leech cursed before falling silent.

“Lord Divine Tree,” the Sea Monk expressed his deep gratitude, feeling as though he had narrowly escaped death. Fortunately, he had the good fortune of encountering Lord Divine Tree, or this disaster would have surely led to his demise.

“What exactly happened?” Su Mu asked seriously.

“The Eastern Sea has become increasingly chaotic,” the Sea Monk explained. “More powerful sea creatures are appearing in the Forbidden Sea. I was trying to gather one last group of subordinates to contribute to Lord Divine Tree when this leech targeted me. Its main body is far more terrifying—a 100-foot-long leech. Even from over thirty miles away, its aura suffocates me. Fortunately, it seems unable to leave the Forbidden Sea, only sending a small part of itself to pursue me.”

Su Mu’s heart raced. The leech he had just encountered wasn’t even the main body—just a small fragment. If a fragment was strong enough to nearly kill the Sea Monk, how powerful must the main body be?

“Sea Monk, how does that leech compare to me?” Su Mu inquired.

The Sea Monk pondered for a moment before replying, “Lord Divine Tree, I’m not sure. I feel that the leech’s main body is close to the fourth tier, perhaps even a fourth-tier existence. But you, Lord Divine Tree, I cannot see through at all. Your aura feels like an abyss—deep, unfathomable, and limitless.”

Su Mu was alarmed. This leech was the most powerful entity he had encountered so far. As for himself, it was natural that the Sea Monk couldn’t fully comprehend his power. After all, Su Mu’s Power of Mist had reached the sixth-tier. Though he was still classified as a third-tier supreme-grade existence, even a fourth-tier being might not be able to fully gauge his strength.

“Since you’re back now, stay here for the time being. A great opportunity is about to arrive,” Su Mu advised, giving the Sea Monk two drops of Life Essence before letting him heal.

Su Mu then continued his preparations, adjusting his state to perfection. He also began to contract his Power of Mist. The coverage of his power shrank from a radius of sixty miles down to just three miles. He intended to capture as much of the erupting spiritual energy as possible, preventing it from dissipating into the world.

Unnoticed, three days passed. During this time, Su Mu’s subordinates returned one by one.

On the fourth night…

“It’s coming,” Su Mu sensed. Deep underground, a violent tremor began, as if countless ants were burrowing upwards. But these were not ants; they were torrents of spiritual energy.
