The burly man’s smile froze on his face.

He turned to Qin Lang. “Captain, there’s no need to trouble you with something this small…”

Qin Lang looked at him calmly. “I don’t care about the others, but this time, I’ll handle it.”

He admitted that this woman before him had indeed caught his attention. A woman like her shouldn’t be defiled by someone as vile as Shen Ye.

Seeing how serious Qin Lang was, Shen Ye, despite his reluctance, had no choice but to back down.

“Alright, you’re the captain, so it’s your call,” he said, beginning to step back.

But before he could stop, the green-haired woman approached him, a light smile on her face.

That smile was utterly enchanting.

Shen Ye’s small fear of Qin Lang was instantly overwhelmed by his desire.

“Little girl, it’s too dangerous for you to be out here in the deep mountains. Let me protect you,” he said, his breath quickening as he reached out to touch the green-haired woman’s delicate face.

The green-haired woman did not move.

She gazed at Shen Ye with innocent, clear eyes, as if she had no idea what he was about to do.

This only made Shen Ye lose his last shred of rationality.

He no longer thought about being cautious; he only wanted to touch the green-haired woman’s face. That flawless, fair face—what would it feel like to touch it?

In the blink of an eye, Shen Ye’s fingers were less than an inch away from the woman’s face.

And then, his hand stopped.

The green-haired woman hadn’t moved her hand.

But her hair had.

Even those behind Shen Ye, who might have been on guard, only expected an attack from her hands, not her hair.

At that moment, the green-haired woman’s hair wrapped around Shen Ye’s hand.

“Ah!” Shen Ye screamed in pain.

His hand had been severed by the green-haired woman’s hair. He tried to retreat.

But the green-haired woman’s hair followed him, coiling around his neck.

“Stop!” the other team members shouted in anger and shock.

The green-haired woman smiled faintly.

Her hair tightened around Shen Ye’s neck.

“You… you’re not human…” Fear filled Shen Ye’s eyes.

He was a mid-Foundation Establishment cultivator, yet he had no power to resist against this green-haired woman.

“Demon! I said, stop!” Several members of the team charged at the green-haired woman, enraged.

The green-haired woman remained calm, dragging Shen Ye backward. Blood continued to pour from Shen Ye, his life force rapidly dwindling.

“You’re a demon… you’re a demon in human skin…” Shen Ye’s voice was filled with a mix of anger and terror.

“If you say I’m a demon, then so be it,” the green-haired woman said, indifferent.

Seeing that Shen Ye was almost too weak to resist, she didn’t hesitate any longer and finished him off.

The green-haired woman’s hair sliced through Shen Ye’s neck, severing his head. At this moment, the remaining members of the Scythe Squad caught up.

They had heard Shen Ye’s final exchange with the green-haired woman.

“A demon.”

“She’s a demon.”

Fear spread across the faces of the remaining members of the Scythe Squad.

It wasn’t just the fact that she was a demon.

They had killed many demons before.

But a demon with a human form was truly terrifying.

With the revival of spiritual energy, people were becoming more familiar with demons.

Because of this, the Scythe Squad knew what it meant for a demon to take on human form. That was a sign of a high-level demon.

A demon in the second tier couldn’t transform into human form. At the very least, it had to be at the third tier.

Realizing this, their initial thoughts of fighting vanished instantly.

“Run.”

Each member of the Scythe Squad ran as fast as they could.

The green-haired woman was left puzzled.

Why had they suddenly become so afraid of her?

But she didn’t dwell on it; there was no need to.

Buzz!

A purple-gold mosquito flew out.

It moved faster than the green-haired woman.

One of the Scythe Squad members felt a slight tingling sensation in his arm.

“A mosquito bite?” he thought at first, casually waving the insect away.

But the mosquito didn’t leave him.

In the blink of an eye, the squad member realized something was wrong.

He felt a wave of weakness wash over him.

Looking down at his arm, he saw that the skin near the bite was turning pale, as if drained of blood.

He immediately understood.

It was this mosquito draining his blood.

It wasn’t normal for a mosquito to drain so much blood so quickly.

The Scythe Squad member hurriedly channeled his spiritual energy, trying to kill the mosquito.

But the mosquito remained unharmed.

“This is bad!”

He realized the danger too late.

The purple-gold mosquito was draining his blood at an alarming rate.

In seconds, the Scythe Squad member’s vision darkened, and he collapsed.

In less than half an hour, most of the Scythe Squad had been killed by the green-haired woman and the purple-gold mosquito.

Only the captain, Qin Lang, and the red-clad woman were still running.

They weren’t killed because they had fled toward the core area of the Misty Forbidden Zone.

Realizing that fleeing outward only led to deadly pursuit, they decided to gamble and ran deeper into the forbidden zone.

Maybe, they thought, the core of the Misty Forbidden Zone held some great treasure.

To them, the green-haired woman was a third-tier demon; escaping from her was impossible by normal means.

They could only take a risk.

Seeing their decision, the green-haired woman and the purple-gold mosquito exchanged a knowing glance.

They had just come from the core of the Misty Forbidden Zone.

No one knew better than them how terrifying that area was.

It wasn’t just dangerous for two Foundation Establishment cultivators— even a Golden Core master wouldn’t survive in the core of the Misty Forbidden Zone.

Qin Lang and the red-clad woman soon noticed something strange.

As they ran deeper into the core, the pursuit behind them seemed to fade away.

They encountered beasts along the way, but those beasts appeared docile.

Unknowingly, they reached the edge of a lake.

The sight of the lake made them freeze.

Around the lake were thousands of beasts. Hundreds of them were demons.

The core area of the Misty Forbidden Zone was even more terrifying than they had imagined.

And the outside world knew nothing about it.

Before coming here, they had no idea there was such a large lake in this place.

There was no turning back now.

Despite their fear, they couldn’t retreat and had no choice but to press on.

They continued forward.

As they crossed the lake, the mist ahead began to thin.

Their vision gradually cleared.

Suddenly, they stopped in their tracks, their minds going blank.

They had seen a tree.

It was a ginkgo tree.

This ginkgo tree wasn’t the tallest in the Misty Forbidden Zone.

It was over six hundred feet tall.

There were a few other trees of similar height.

But that didn’t mean this ginkgo tree wasn’t imposing.

A tree over six hundred feet tall was still a majestic sight.

What shook them to their core was that this tree was clearly different from the others.

Its trunk looked as though it was made of bronze.

Its leaves seemed to be carved from jade.

Underneath this tree stood a few spirit beasts.

A snow mink, a giant white python, and the Ironback ape.

There were also several crows perched on the tree.

All of these creatures were enormous, with an intimidating aura.
