- Reincarnated as a Ginkgo Tree: I Create an Eternal Divine Kingdom
- Chapter 7 - Copying the Innate Talent
The dense horde of beasts surged toward the ginkgo tree.
Su Yao and the other girls initially thought the tree would be overwhelmed and destroyed by the onslaught.
However, the reality was far different. The beasts, like moths drawn to a flame, were utterly incapable of harming the ginkgo tree.
“Squeak, squeak…”
Suddenly, a sharp, angry cry rang out, and the temperature in the forest dropped significantly.
It was as if a white ghost had appeared, darting into the beast horde and beginning to reap lives.
Following this, ten eerie black shadows appeared in the sky.
These shadows moved with such speed and precision that they seemed like specters, shooting out like arrows.
Every beast in their path was instantly killed.
This sight filled Su Mu with satisfaction.
His efforts in nurturing the Snow Spirit Mink and Spirit Crows were not in vain.
As the massacre unfolded, Su Mu’s panel information rapidly changed.
[300, 301, 302…]
The lifespan counter increased with each kill.
This beast tide further underscored Su Mu’s growing strength.
He wasn’t sure how powerful beings in other parts of this world might be, but in this forest, he was undoubtedly the ruler.
As the ruler, he had to assert his dominance.
Rumble!
The forest trembled in response to Su Mu’s will.
More fibrous roots emerged from the ground, and even the few spirit beasts among the horde were no match for Su Mu.
They were all instantly slain.
“Roar!”
A thunderous tiger’s roar echoed through the forest.
In his past life, such a sound would have made Su Mu drop to the ground in fear.
But now, it didn’t faze him.
Through his perception, Su Mu identified a particularly imposing tiger within the horde.
[Species: Spirit Tiger]
[Length: 30 feet]
[Lifespan: 200 years]
[Rank: First-Tier, Supreme Grade]
[Abilities: Roaring Sky, Tiger King’s Charge]
A First-Tier, Supreme Grade beast!
If Su Mu weren’t here, this tiger would likely be the ruler of this forest.
But with Su Mu’s presence, its fate was sealed.
The tiger’s power was immense, especially its charge, which likely packed the force of 50 tons.
However, restrained by Su Mu’s branches, it couldn’t break free.
Now that Su Mu’s trunk and branches were spirit-infused, they were incredibly strong.
“Combining my branches and leaves seems to be even more powerful,” Su Mu realized. By using his branches, which were part of his trunk, he could wield even greater strength.
As Su Mu considered this, he didn’t slow down his attacks.
Dozens of fibrous roots shot out like lightning, and the Spirit Tiger was swiftly killed.
After slaying the Spirit Tiger, Su Mu’s lifespan surged by 200 years.
The tiger’s death shattered the will of the remaining beasts. They snapped out of their frenzy and tried to flee.
But escape was not so simple.
Every beast within 200 feet of Su Mu was ground to pieces.
Those who managed to escape that range were hunted down by the Snow Spirit Mink and the ten Spirit Crows.
In the end, less than 5% of the beasts involved in the tide managed to escape.
And those that did would surely spread the tale of the terror they encountered here.
Eventually, the grand beast tide came to an end in less than half an hour.
For Su Mu, this was more of an opportunity than a disaster.
[Lifespan: 1200 years]
The harvest was unprecedented.
The Snow Spirit Mink and Spirit Crows also reaped the benefits.
While Su Mu absorbed the lifespan, the carcasses of the beasts became their feast.
At that moment, Su Mu noticed that the Spirit Crows had brought eight spoils of war to him. The Spirit Crows were intelligent enough to recognize that these eight were different from the other beasts—they were humans.
The crows hadn’t killed them but had brought them before Su Mu.
Su Mu’s mind stirred.
These eight humans were the ones who had been involved in the chase earlier.
His first thought was to kill them all.
Even though Su Mu had once been human, his experiences had left him disillusioned with human nature. He didn’t have much compassion left.
These people now knew of his existence.
If they spread word of this to the rest of humanity, it could cause untold trouble.
Especially since he had overheard one of the men talking about reporting what they had seen to their village chief.
But Su Mu quickly dismissed this thought.
Killing these eight would be easy, but preventing future problems wouldn’t be. He needed to find out what lay behind them.
This was also a rare opportunity to learn more about the world beyond the forest.
As he contemplated, Su Mu came up with a plan.
“Copy ability, Phantom Snow Eyes.”
Su Mu cleared his mind and connected with the Snow Spirit Mink’s consciousness.
The Snow Spirit Mink seemed to sense what was happening.
Rather than feeling fear or resistance, it was filled with joy and affection.
It seemed to relish the connection with Su Mu’s consciousness.
In that connection, Su Mu sensed a mysterious, ethereal power within the mink’s mind.
Su Mu couldn’t fully describe this power, but he knew he could replicate it.
“Copy.”
With a thought, Su Mu’s lifespan rapidly dwindled.
At the same time, in his own mental space, a similar ethereal power began to form.
When Su Mu checked his panel again, he saw that the information had changed.
[Species: Spirit Ginkgo]
[Height: 110 feet]
[Lifespan: 900 years]
[Rank: Second-Tier, Lower Grade]
[Abilities: Complete Spirit Infusion, Congeal Spirit Ginkgo Fruit, Innate Talent Duplication, Phantom Snow Eyes]
He had successfully copied the Snow Spirit Mink’s ability by consuming 300 years of lifespan.
Unfortunately, the Spirit Crows’ abilities weren’t useful to him. Otherwise, he might have copied one of theirs as well.
Su Mu also sensed that the copied ability could be upgraded.
After achieving complete spirit infusion, Su Mu had worried about how he would continue to grow. But now, he knew he didn’t need to worry anymore.
After successfully copying Phantom Snow Eyes, his cultivation level advanced once again.
“I feel like I’m close to reaching the Second-Tier, Middle Grade,” Su Mu thought, filled with joy.
He quickly assessed his situation and made a rough estimate.
To upgrade Phantom Snow Eyes to the next level, he would need to consume 500 years of lifespan.
“Upgrade.”
With another thought, 500 years of lifespan vanished.
Phantom Snow Eyes immediately advanced to the Second-Tier.
Buzz!
At the same time, Su Mu’s rank broke through to the second tier, middle grade.
[Species: Spirit Ginkgo]
[Height: 130 feet]
[Lifespan: 400 years]
[Rank: Second Tier, Middle Grade]
[Abilities: Complete Spirit Infusion, Congeal Spirit Ginkgo Fruit, Innate Talent Duplication, Second Tier Phantom Snow Eyes]
“We…”
At that moment, Su Mu heard startled voices.
The eight humans had woken up from their unconsciousness.
“Phantom Snow Eyes.”
But just as they regained consciousness, they felt a strange, ethereal voice echoing in their minds.
As the voice resonated, their awareness grew hazy.
In their daze, it felt as though they had fallen into a world of ice and snow.
Their thoughts slowed, as if they were partially frozen.
“Where did you come from…” the ethereal voice asked.
For some reason, the humans felt as though this voice belonged to a god.
Their sluggish minds couldn’t process much, so they instinctively answered the questions.
“We are from Su Family Village.”
“We are from Zhang Family Village.”
“Where are Su Family Village and Zhang Family Village located?”
“At the edge of the Ancient Wilderness.”
The exchange went on, with Su Mu asking the questions.
Through the use of Phantom Snow Eyes, Su Mu mentally dominated the eight humans.
As he questioned them, Su Mu learned more and more information.
And the more he learned, the more shocked he became.
