Su Family Village had reached an unprecedented peak, yet its population was still only about two thousand people. Meanwhile, Canglan Town had a population of eight thousand.

Furthermore, the demonic disaster had affected the area within a hundred-mile radius around Canglan Town, which included nearly two thousand additional people. This led to a massive influx of over five thousand people fleeing to Su Family Village.

It was clear that such a large population far exceeded the village’s capacity. However, despite this, Su Family Village did not turn these people away. The villagers understood that this was a rare opportunity for the village. Demonic disasters were uncommon, and if the village could withstand the hardships and seize this chance, it could undergo a significant transformation.

If they could accommodate these five thousand people, Su Family Village’s population would grow to over seven thousand. At that point, the village would no longer be a mere village but a small town.

“Chief Su,” a weary figure, guarded by several people, appeared before Su Yan. The villagers recognized this person immediately—it was Sun Zhengping, the young master of the once-dominant Sun family of Canglan Town. However, Sun Zhengping had lost his former glory and looked rather disheveled.

“So, it’s Young Master Sun,” Su Yan said. “The Sun family is familiar with the residents of Canglan Town. If you are willing to help us settle these people, I can assure you that the Sun family will still have a place in Su Family Village’s future.”

Sun Zhengping’s face changed. Su Yan’s meaning was clear: the Sun family had to assist the Su Family Village, and even then, they could not expect to regain their former status but could only become vassals of the Su family. However, Sun Zhengping knew he had no other choice. When under someone else’s roof, one has to bow their head.

“Thank you, Chief Su,” Sun Zhengping replied immediately. “The Sun family will do everything in its power to help Su Family Village maintain order and comfort the refugees.”

Su Yan nodded in satisfaction. With Sun Zhengping’s help, things quickly became more manageable. The residents of Canglan Town were gradually settled in Su Family Village. Since the village didn’t have enough housing, they set up temporary tents outside and began building their own homes.

In one of the tents, several figures gathered. Any outsider present would have recognized them immediately—they were key members of the Sun family, including the other young master, Sun Wuyi, as well as the second and fifth elders of the Sun family.

“Second Uncle, Fifth Uncle, are you willing to be ruled by a bunch of lowly villagers?” Sun Wuyi asked, his eyes dark and brooding.

“Of course not,” the second elder replied. “I’ve observed the strength of the villagers in Su Family Village—they are nothing special. They have no right to stand above us.”

Sun Wuyi turned to the fifth elder. The fifth elder sneered, “I’ve already secretly contacted a group of people. I can gather about fifteen hundred of Canglan Town’s residents. When the time comes, we’ll launch a surprise attack on Su Family Village, wipe out their core members, and take control of the village ourselves.”

“The sooner, the better,” Sun Wuyi said excitedly. “Let’s move tonight and eliminate the core members of Su Family Village.”

What they didn’t realize was that a small, purple-gold mosquito was perched near the entrance of the tent, listening to everything. Once their discussion ended, the mosquito flew away and quickly relayed the information to Su Mu.

Su Mu didn’t hesitate and immediately passed the message on to Su Yan. Upon hearing it, Su Yan was furious. He had been generous enough to allow the Sun family a place in Su Family Village’s future, yet they still harbored such malicious intentions.

“If you need assistance, I can have Xiaotian help you eliminate these traitors,” Su Mu offered.

“Thank you, Divine Tree,” Su Yan said gratefully. Without the Divine Tree’s help, Su Family Village would have had a hard time dealing with the people of Canglan Town.

Later that night, the camp outside Su Family Village was shrouded in darkness. Suddenly, countless torches flared to life.

“Destroy Su Family Village!”

“A mere village has no right to rule over the five thousand residents of Canglan Town!”

“Charge!”

Over a thousand people rushed out of the camp, heading straight for Su Family Village.

“What?” Sun Zhengping and other unaware members of the Sun family were shocked. Among the attacking crowd, they saw Sun Wuyi, the second elder, and the fifth elder.

In that moment, it became clear to him that this attack was orchestrated by these members of the Sun family. However, instead of feeling any joy, he felt as though he had plunged into an icy abyss.

If he hadn’t witnessed Su Family Village’s methods during the previous demonic invasion, he might have held some hope. After all, if the Sun family could replace the Su family, they could rise again. But having seen the village’s terrifying capabilities, he knew that Su Family Village, despite its unassuming appearance, was actually extremely dangerous.

Others might believe that the village’s survival of the demonic disaster was mere luck, but Sun Zhengping had a gut feeling that there was something more—a mysterious force protecting Su Family Village.

“Raise the iron thorns!” Su Yan commanded calmly. Knowing that the Sun family would attack, he had already made preparations. A row of iron thorns was brought out, blocking the path of the thousand-strong force from Canglan Town.

The attackers hesitated, unwilling to rush through the iron thorns. Their only option was to first destroy the barrier.

Before they could act, a chorus of wolf howls echoed from the nearby forest. Su Family Village was located at the edge of the Ancient Wilderness Mountains, right next to the forest. The people from Canglan Town were instantly alarmed.

The eerie howls in the darkness were terrifying, but they weren’t just meant to scare them. Moments later, green lights flickered in the darkness like ghostly flames.

“Wolves!”

“Spirit wolves!”

Panic spread through the crowd. They were camped outside Su Family Village with no defenses whatsoever. As they hesitated, a dense pack of wolves emerged from the forest. However, most of the townspeople noticed that these wolves weren’t attacking them. Instead, the wolves surged past them, targeting only those attacking Su Family Village.

The air was soon filled with the screams of the attackers as the wolves tore into them. The scene was bizarre—hundreds of giant wolves were selectively slaughtering the people of Canglan Town who had dared to attack the village.

“Damn beasts!” The second and fifth elders of the Sun family were furious and prepared to fight back. But they quickly froze in terror when they found themselves surrounded by three enormous wolves. Each of these wolves radiated the aura of a second-tier beast. One of the elders was in the Foundation Establishment stage, while the other was at the peak of Qi Refinement, but the wolves were clearly stronger.

The most terrifying sight, however, was the wolf king leading the pack—a colossal creature over a hundred feet long, radiating the powerful aura of a supreme-grade second-tier beast.

“Aaaah…” The air was soon filled with more screams as the wolf pack tore through the mob from Canglan Town. In less than fifteen minutes, more than half of the thousand attackers had been slaughtered, and the few remaining survivors were in no shape to continue their assault.
