  3. Chapter 38 - The White Spirit Python’s Advancement

The underground world was still fragile.

The root cause was that Su Mu’s tree roots had not yet reached the underground world.

To maintain the secrecy of the underground world, Su Mu had moved it five thousand feet deep underground.

“Sea Monk.”

Su Mu transmitted his thoughts to the Sea Monk, “Return to the Eastern Sea and lead the sea creatures here.”

According to the Sea Monk’s report, the underground river of the Misty Territory was over 100,000 miles away from the Eastern Sea.

Even for the Sea Monk, it would take some time to swim back.

Until the Sea Monk returned, Su Mu could only wait.

“Hmm?”

Su Mu sensed a ripple.

This ripple came from the White Spirit Python!

“Has it advanced to the second-tier?”

Su Mu couldn’t help but feel pleased.

His nurturing hadn’t been in vain; the White Spirit Python had finally advanced.

[Species: White Spirit Python]

[Length: 100 feet]

[Lifespan: 300 years]

[Tier: Second-Tier, Low Grade]

[Abilities: Power of Mist, White Jade Scales]

The White Jade Scales made the White Spirit Python’s scales appear like white jade, granting it formidable defensive power.

This undoubtedly gave the White Spirit Python a significant boost in strength. After its advancement, the White Spirit Python became even more restless, frequently provoking the other spirit beasts around it.

The other spirit beasts were too lazy to bother with it.

This only made the White Spirit Python even more headstrong.

Three days later, while Su Mu was busy transforming the underground world, he sensed something.

“This guy…”

He felt a bit helpless.

The restless White Spirit Python was making its way out of the Misty Territory.

“Lin Che, Huang Shuling, follow it.”

Su Mu commanded.

The White Spirit Python wasn’t the brightest, so it needed supervision to prevent it from causing trouble, or worse, not knowing when to flee after causing trouble.

At the same time, this was also an opportunity to test Lin Che and Huang Shuling.

Although Su Mu possessed the Heart Peering, human thoughts could change constantly, even deceiving themselves.

To truly see if someone was trustworthy, you couldn’t rely on what they said or even what they thought—you had to see what they did.

He also ordered the Spirit Crows to monitor the White Spirit Python from the sky.

His perception was limited to the range covered by the Power of Mist. Outside the Misty Territory, he had to rely on the Spirit Crows’ sight and perception to indirectly observe the situation.

“Yes, Divine Tree. We will follow Mist closely.”

Lin Che and Huang Shuling responded.

They already knew that the White Spirit Python’s name was “Mist.”

Even though it had advanced to the second tier, its strength was still relatively average within the Misty Territory.

The Ironback Ape, Snow Mink, Earthquake Bear, and Sea Monk all surpassed it in power.

But outside the Misty Territory, the White Spirit Python was unstoppable.

Following it, Lin Che and Huang Shuling couldn’t help but marvel at its combat prowess.

It seemed that the White Spirit Python wasn’t satisfied with merely playing around in the Ancient Wilderness. It left the wilderness altogether and ventured into the human territory, reaching the outskirts.

Lin Che and Huang Shuling remained on high alert.

They were prepared for any dangerous situation and were determined to drive the White Spirit Python back to the wilderness if needed. The White Spirit Python was so bold not only because of its increased strength but also due to its exceptional burrowing ability.

If it encountered an opponent it couldn’t defeat, it could simply burrow and escape.

Its burrowing skills were no less impressive than those of the marmots.

Ten miles outside Su Family Village, by a river.

Two figures, covered in blood, stood defiantly, glaring at the surrounding area.

They were surrounded by five black-clad men.

If someone from Su Family Village were here, they would recognize one of the figures as Su Luo.

Su Luo had been at the Violet Sun Sect for a month.

Today was the day she returned home to visit.

She hadn’t expected to be ambushed near Su Family Village.

The person with her was a guardian assigned by Zhao Xueqing, a Qi Refinement Peak expert.

But even a Qi Refinement Peak expert was no match for this ambush.

Among the five black-clad men, two were Qi Refinement Peak experts, while the other three were late-stage Qi Refinement cultivators.

“Are you from the Blood Cloud Sect? Is this act meant to declare war on my Violet Sun Sect?”

Su Luo demanded angrily.

“Declare war?”

The tall black-clad man sneered, “The Violet Sun Sect is indeed powerful. We have no desire to go to war with them. But once we kill you and leave no witnesses, who will know it was us?”

Su Luo’s face turned pale at his words.

“Of course, our Blood Cloud Sect appreciates talent.”

The tall black-clad man continued, “If you’re willing to leave the Violet Sun Sect and join our Blood Cloud Sect, we can spare your life.”

“Never!”

Su Luo retorted.

“You have no choice.”

The tall black-clad man said coldly, “I advise you to surrender. Otherwise, you’ll suffer before you die.”

Su Luo felt her heart sink into despair.

But then, a glimmer of hope appeared in her eyes.

The black-clad men noticed her change in expression and frowned.

“Don’t expect anyone to save you. All the experts from the Violet Sun Sect are busy at the ancient tomb. We chose this moment specifically to intercept you.”

The tall black-clad man frowned.

“Who said only the Violet Sun Sect could save me?”

Su Luo smiled.

A strange slithering sound echoed.

The Blood Cloud Sect members sensed something amiss and quickly turned around.

To their shock, they saw a terrifying white python, 10 zhang long.

“A monster?”

The Blood Cloud Sect members turned pale with fear.

The white python didn’t give them time to react and lunged at them.

“Foul beast, how dare you!”

The Blood Cloud Sect members were furious and attacked the white python together.

Within seconds, they were filled with terror.

Even the Qi Refinement Peak experts couldn’t withstand the white python’s attacks and were quickly sent flying by its tail.

“A second-tier demon!”

Despair filled the eyes of the Blood Cloud Sect members.

Su Luo and her guardian seized the opportunity to fight back.

“Foul beast, you’ve gone too far!”

The tall black-clad man drew a long blade.

It was a second-tier magical weapon, and he didn’t believe it couldn’t harm the python.

He swung the blade at the python, but it only left a faint mark on its white scales.

The tall black-clad man’s face turned ashen. “So, the Violet Sun Sect has allied with demon beasts…”

The white python didn’t hold back and swallowed him whole.

In less than half a quarter-hour, all five Blood Cloud Sect experts were defeated.

“Mist.”

Su Luo’s face lit up with joy.

She had spent some time in the Misty Territory and naturally recognized the White Spirit Python.

“Su Luo, what is going on? Demon beasts are mortal enemies of humanity. How can you be so close to this giant python?”

The guardian beside her looked coldly at her.

Su Luo panicked.

In the human cultivation world, any association with demon beasts was deeply loathed.

After all, many humans had recently died at the hands of demon beasts.

“A fine guardian of the Violet Sun Sect, indeed.”

A mocking voice interrupted, “If not for this ‘mortal enemy,’ you’d already be dead at the hands of the Blood Cloud Sect. Yet you still have the nerve to speak like this?”

“Who’s there!”

The guardian demanded.

Before the words had fully left his mouth, two figures appeared: Lin Che and Huang Shuling.

“You’re Huang Shuling of Green Hill Mansion?”

The guardian was surprised to recognize her.

Huang Shuling had indeed gained some fame, thanks to her rare ability to foresee danger.
