Ordinary beasts were easily handled by Su Qianqian and Su Yan.

As for more powerful spirit beasts, Su Yan was initially nervous, but soon realized it was unnecessary.

Most spirit beasts didn’t dare to attack Su Qianqian.

The few that did were swiftly dealt with by mysterious crows, each one enormous, about five feet in length—almost as large as a human adolescent.

These mysterious crows were incredibly friendly toward them, making Su Yan feel as if he were dreaming.

Although he was a cultivator, he was only a minor figure who had been stuck in the early stages of Qi Refining for decades.

He had never witnessed anything like this.

The two of them continued forward with ease for nearly forty miles when Su Yan suddenly stopped in his tracks.

Ahead of them was a lake.

Su Yan had previously ventured sixty miles into the Ancient Wilderness Mountains, and he was certain there had been no lake in this area before.

What could have caused this?

He didn’t dwell on it for long.

After all, the times had changed, and strange occurrences were becoming more common.

There hadn’t been mist covering the Ancient Wilderness Mountains before, but now it enveloped the area day and night.

What truly made Su Yan’s heart race was the sight of numerous birds and beasts living by the lake—thousands, by his estimate, with nearly a hundred of them being spirit beasts.

It was terrifying.

Absolutely terrifying.

At that moment, Su Yan felt an overwhelming urge to flee.

However, seeing Su Qianqian’s calm demeanor, he managed to suppress it.

Suddenly, a strange sound, like something massive crawling, echoed through the air.

The truth was revealed within ten breaths.

It was an eighty-foot-long white python.

Su Yan’s legs trembled involuntarily.

The sheer size and aura of the white python made Su Yan feel utterly insignificant.

If this creature decided to eat him, he probably wouldn’t even be enough to fill a single tooth.

To his shock, the giant python slithered right up to them.

Su Yan wanted to maintain his composure as the village chief, but his legs refused to stop shaking.

“Mist,” Su Qianqian said with a slight smile as she reached out to touch the python.

The white python was different from ordinary snakes.

Its skin wasn’t slimy like most pythons; instead, it felt smooth like white jade.

Moreover, it didn’t emit any foul odor.

Instead, it exuded a faint, pleasant herbal fragrance.

Su Yan’s breath caught in his throat.

He thought his niece might have lost her mind.

How could she dare to touch such a terrifying beast?

If the python got angry, wouldn’t they both end up as its meal?

But in the next moment, Su Yan’s eyes widened.

The white python didn’t get angry at all.

Instead, it affectionately nuzzled against Su Qianqian, showing clear enjoyment from her touch.

Su Yan’s worldview felt as if it had been turned upside down.

“Grandfather, let’s keep going,” Su Qianqian said with a soft laugh.

Su Yan blushed, feeling a bit embarrassed as if his niece was looking down on him.

Despite being four times her age, he seemed like the one with less experience.

Su Yan thought the most shocking thing he’d encounter would be the white python.

He couldn’t help but ask, “Qianqian, is this giant python the source of your opportunity?”

Su Qianqian shook her head.

Su Yan was about to ask more when he saw a four-zhang-tall giant ape.

Though not as large as the white python, its standing posture made it equally imposing.

As they continued past the giant ape, an eight-zhang-tall brown bear came into view.

By now, Su Yan was too shocked to react.

Finally, they arrived at the heart of the Misty Forbidden Zone.

There, he saw a towering ginkgo tree, four hundred tall.

Though not the tallest tree in the forest, it was the most striking.

Rolling white mist swirled around it like dragons, and its bark, unlike any other tree, resembled cast bronze and iron.

Its leaves looked like jade.

Beneath the ginkgo tree lay a pure white, eight-foot-long snow mink, appearing as a divine creature.

Five five-foot-long crows perched on its branches, adding to the tree’s mysterious aura.

There was no need for Su Qianqian to say anything.

Su Yan knelt before Su Mu of his own accord.

“Mortal Su Yan, greets the Divine Tree,” he said, his expression devout.

Unlike others in Su Family Village, who had needed the blessing of Life Essence to fully devote themselves, Su Yan skipped that process entirely.

When the others first encountered Su Mu, Su Mu was not as powerful, and the Misty Forbidden Zone was far less developed.

Now, Su Mu was a third-tier entity, and the Misty Forbidden Zone had become a kingdom under his rule.

The journey to this place had left Su Yan in awe.

By the time he saw Su Mu, it was no different than encountering a deity.

This development surprised Su Mu as well.

Su Yan was old and, as the saying goes, “old and cunning.”

Such people were usually wise and filled with complex thoughts.

Su Mu had prepared for the worst, thinking that if Su Yan was difficult to win over, he would have to imprison him and let Su Zheng take over as village chief.

He hadn’t expected Su Yan to be more devout than anyone else.

Su Mu didn’t think Su Yan was pretending, either.

He could sense the faith in Su Yan’s heart.

Previously, only Su Yao had shown such faith, but now Su Yan had it too.

Invisible strands of faith converted into life force flowed from Su Yan into Su Mu.

“Faith from Su Yao alone grants me five years of life each day.

With Su Yan, that’s ten years,” Su Mu thought, quite pleased.

Although the daily amount of life force didn’t seem much, it was a steady, continuous source.

Since Su Yan had shown such devotion, Su Mu didn’t hesitate to reward him.

A drop of Life Essence entered Su Yan’s forehead.

Su Yan’s body was in poor condition.

As the village’s only cultivator in his younger years, he had always been at the forefront of every battle, leaving him with many injuries and hidden ailments.

His advanced age and these old wounds made him appear even older than ordinary elderly people.

But now, as the Life Essence entered his body, his hidden ailments began to heal.

His condition was too severe for a single drop of Life Essence to completely cure him, so Su Mu didn’t rush to grant a second drop.

There would be plenty of time for that in the future.

After fully absorbing the Life Essence, Su Yan finally reached the mid-stage of Qi Refining.

His once withered skin now had a bit more color and elasticity.

“You may explore the underground kingdom,” Su Mu conveyed his thoughts to Su Yan.

“In the future, Su Family Village can select core members to live in the underground kingdom.”

The underground kingdom was home to the Earth Spirit Stalactite Cavern, a place of great cultivation potential.

However, in the cultivation world, resources were precious.

Even though Su Mu intended to develop Su Family Village, he wouldn’t allow just anyone to enter the kingdom.

Only those who were devout and trustworthy would be permitted.

Su Mu also believed that as more people came under his influence, the likelihood of them developing faith would increase.

With Su Mu’s permission, Su Qianqian led Su Yan into the underground kingdom.

Upon seeing the perfect environment, especially the Spirit Earth Stalactite Cavern, Su Yan’s breathing became rapid, almost frantic.

If it weren’t for Su Mu’s instructions, he would have wanted to move the entire village here immediately.

“Let’s return,” Su Mu’s voice echoed in Su Yan’s mind after he had finished touring the underground kingdom.

“Yes, Divine Tree,” Su Yan replied devoutly.

Meanwhile, Su Luo traveled with Zhao Xueqing in a carriage, crossing a thousand miles to reach the Violet Sun Sect.
