Only Lin Che frowned and refrained from eating.

It wasn’t out of pity for the brown bear but because he felt that eating the meat of a spiritual beast in this forest was unwise.

With so many spiritual beasts in the area, eating their flesh could easily provoke others.

He even advised Huang Shuling to abstain, and after some hesitation, she chose to trust Lin Che and resisted the temptation.

After finishing the bear meat, the group continued their hunt through the forest.

Their prowess was undeniable, and every spiritual beast they encountered was swiftly slain.

However, their activities did not go unnoticed by Su Mu.

A wave of displeasure washed over him.

“I hope they know their place,” he mused.

If this group dared to approach him, he wouldn’t hesitate to eliminate them.

As he pondered, Su Mu sensed something.

Three miles from Liao Xing and the others, a massive figure moved swiftly through the dense fog.

Upon closer inspection, it was another brown bear, towering at a height of eight meters.

Compared to this giant, the previous bear was nothing more than a cub—its cub, to be precise.

Su Mu had just noticed the presence of this bear.

“These people are truly unfortunate,” he thought, as his branches gently swayed.

The group had unknowingly eaten the cub of one of the mountain range’s rulers.

The bear would certainly not let them off.

Though Su Mu had no particular interest in this bear, it was still one of the rulers of the Ancient Wilderness Mountain Range.

The humans had indeed brought this upon themselves by provoking such a powerful creature.

This turn of events worked in Su Mu’s favor, as the bear would likely deal with the intruders for him.

Considering Su Yao’s intel, this team was the first group of Demon Cultivators from Green Hills Mansion, and their actions would undoubtedly be scrutinized.

If Su Mu intervened, he might risk exposure.

With the bear in the forefront, he could remain hidden in the shadows.

At that moment, Huang Shuling suddenly felt a tightness in her chest, struggling to breathe.

Liao Xing glanced at her.

“Shuling?” he asked.

“I feel scared,” Huang Shuling admitted.

Her words immediately made everyone tense.

Huang Shuling’s instincts had always been accurate.

Lin Che’s expression grew particularly grave, having worked with Huang Shuling the most and understanding her abilities well.

They had faced many crises together, but never had she shown such fear.

“We should retreat,” Lin Che suggested.

“Retreat?” Liao Xing chuckled.

“I believe in Shuling’s senses. If she says there’s danger, then there must be. But with so many of us here, and forty Demon Cultivators on our side, whatever it is, we’ll take it down.”

“Indeed, there’s no need to worry,” the leader of the Demon Cultivators agreed.

“We each carry talismans, and I even have a magical blade.”

“Did you hear that, Lin Che?” Liao Xing taunted with an even broader grin.

“Let’s just stay prepared and not underestimate the situation,” Lin Che said, resigning himself to the situation.

“Hahaha, you’re making a big deal out of nothing, Lin Che,” Liao Xing sneered, seizing the opportunity to mock him.

Lin Che ignored the provocation, his focus solely on the situation at hand.

Huang Shuling clung to his side, her face pale.

Suddenly, the ground and trees around them began to tremble.

“Be careful,” Lin Che warned, his eyes fixed on the direction of the disturbance.

“What kind of beast dares to cause trouble here?” Liao Xing shouted, showing no fear as he moved toward the source of the tremors.

But the next moment, he froze in place as if plunged into an icy abyss.

He had seen a terrifyingly massive shadow.

Liao Xing’s reaction sent a chill down Lin Che’s spine.

He instinctively wanted to move forward to see what had happened, but Huang Shuling grabbed his arm, pulling him back.

Lin Che quickly realized the danger and stopped.

Then, with a thunderous crash, Liao Xing was violently flung backward, as if struck by an enormous force.

Though Lin Che disliked Liao Xing, he didn’t intend to let him die without trying to help.

He reached out to catch him, but the force propelling Liao Xing was too great, and Lin Che was also thrown back.

Panic surged within Lin Che.

What kind of creature could have struck Liao Xing with such tremendous power?

Looking down, Lin Che’s horror deepened.

Liao Xing’s chest was completely caved in, with his internal organs mostly shattered.

It was clear that he wouldn’t survive much longer.

“Roar!” A deafening roar echoed through the forest, causing everyone to tremble in fear.

Despite the thick fog obscuring their vision, they could still make out a massive figure—a brown bear, eight meters tall, emerging from the mist, its gaze fixed on them.

The beast’s overwhelming aura sent shivers down their spines, with the more faint-hearted among them already shaking uncontrollably.

“It’s over,” the leader of the Demon Cultivators muttered, his body cold with fear.

As a Demon Cultivator, he was highly attuned to the presence of other demonic beasts.

This brown bear was undoubtedly a second-tier upper-grade beast.

Their group might handle a second-tier low-grade or even mid-grade beast with some difficulty, but against an upper-grade beast like this, they had no chance.

Lin Che felt the same despair and regret.

He wished he had taken Huang Shuling and fled when they had the chance.

He had underestimated the danger, believing their numbers would be enough to fend off any threat, even from a powerful beast.

“Ahhh!” a female cultivator screamed in terror.

The scream broke the tense silence and enraged the brown bear.

It charged at the group with terrifying speed.

“Run!” Lin Che shouted, grabbing Huang Shuling and bolting.

The others followed suit, fleeing for their lives.

But the forest soon turned into a bloodbath as the bear, blinded by rage, tore through the fleeing humans.

Its bloodshot eyes betrayed its fury—it could smell its cub’s scent on them, cooked and eaten.

With its intelligence, it knew exactly what had happened, fueling its wrath.

One by one, the humans fell to the bear’s savage attacks, either bitten to death or torn apart.

Even the Demon Cultivators, whose bodies were far more resilient than ordinary humans, were no match for the brown bear.

“Run, run, run!” Lin Che pushed himself to his limits, drawing on every ounce of his strength to escape with Huang Shuling.

The leader of the Demon Cultivators was also fleeing not far ahead.

But the more they ran, the more hopeless they felt.

The brown bear was relentless, closing in on them even after killing the others.

It was now less than two hundred meters behind them.

In just ten breaths, it had halved that distance.

“Roar!” The bear let out a furious roar and leaped forward, using its strength to momentarily soar through the air.

As a second-tier upper-grade beast, it had gained the ability to fly for short distances.

“It’s over,” Lin Che thought, his heart sinking into despair.

If the bear targeted him, there was no way he could defend himself.

The next moment, a scream of agony filled the air.
