As Su Mu pondered his confusion, Huang Shuling voiced his doubts aloud. All the commanders of the Misty Forbidden Zone turned their attention to Bai Qianzhang. Among them, it was undoubtedly Bai Qianzhang who had the broadest knowledge.

Bai Qianzhang did not disappoint them.

“The average altitude of the Kunlun Plateau is 30,000 feet, with the highest peak being ‘Kunlun Peak,’ which reaches an altitude of 180,000 feet,” Bai Qianzhang began slowly. “Because of its height, the plateau is isolated from other regions, and even during the Era of Spiritual Decline, the decline in spiritual energy here was the slowest. As a result, the spiritual energy on this plateau far surpasses that of any other place in the world, leading to the formation of an independent will, akin to a small world of its own.”

“This small world has a will that is quite exclusive, which is why the creatures of the Kunlun Plateau, unless absolutely necessary, do not leave the plateau to venture into other regions. Leaving the plateau risks being contaminated by the energy of other places, leading to rejection by the plateau’s will. That dragon would not have invaded the Misty Forbidden Zone if it hadn’t been gravely injured by an unknown enemy and needed the resources of the Misty Forbidden Zone to recover. Even so, it only sent its subordinate beasts to invade; the dragon itself never stepped out of the Kunlun Plateau.”

The commanders of the Misty Forbidden Zone were shocked to hear this. The Kunlun Plateau having its own independent will, like a small world, was an incredible revelation that shook their understanding.

“Something’s not right!” The Ironback Ape suddenly exclaimed.

“What’s wrong?” Bai Qianzhang asked.

“We’re not creatures of the Kunlun Plateau, so we should be repelled by its will,” the ape said. “But we’ve been in the Kunlun Plateau for quite some time now, and we haven’t felt anything strange.”

The other commanders also paused at these words. They hadn’t noticed anything unusual, as if this place was no different from the territories they had previously occupied in the Misty Forbidden Zone.

Bai Qianzhang sighed and cast a glance at the bewildered commanders, feeling a pang of envy. He envied that they had encountered the Divine Tree earlier than he had. They were blessed but didn’t realize it. On further reflection, he realized he had been just as oblivious.

Previously, he had thought he had a fair understanding of the Divine Tree. Now, he saw how arrogant he had been. He cast a reverent look towards the core of the Misty Forbidden Zone before speaking slowly, “Haven’t you noticed what has always been with us?”

Su Yao reacted quickly, “You mean… the mist?”

“Exactly,” Bai Qianzhang replied. “We are not repelled by the will of the plateau because the mist protects us, shielding us from the plateau’s will.”

The commanders were struck by this revelation, realizing for the first time that the Divine Tree they had come to know was only the tip of the iceberg. The will of the plateau was at the level of a small world’s consciousness, akin to the heavens for ordinary beings. Yet, the Divine Tree could resist even such a will. From this perspective, the Divine Tree was like a godly being, akin to the heavens themselves.

In the core of the Misty Forbidden Zone, Su Mu’s shock was no less than that of his commanders. The fact that the Kunlun Plateau possessed its own will was astonishing. No wonder the Kunlun Plateau was so terrifying, yet it wasn’t listed among the world’s forbidden zones. The Kunlun Plateau had surpassed the level of a forbidden zone and had become an independent small world in its own right.

As for the mist being able to shield against the will of the plateau? It was clear that Su Mu himself was not capable of this. The protection wasn’t his doing. Moments ago, Su Mu had felt a slight fluctuation in his data panel, which then returned to normal. At the time, he hadn’t thought much of it, given that he didn’t fully understand his data panel.

Now he realized that it had been the will of the plateau attempting to repel him, and the mysterious data panel had shielded him from this rejection. The mist hadn’t shielded against the will of the plateau; the data panel had. Of course, Su Mu had no intention of explaining this to Bai Qianzhang or the others. Letting them believe this misconception was beneficial, as it would foster stronger faith and loyalty.

Now, turning his attention back to the data panel, Su Mu saw the results of his forces’ campaign on the plateau. His entire army had been mobilized, successfully capturing key points leading to the plateau. This epic battle had brought him unprecedented gains in lifespan.

[Lifespan: 370,000 years]

With a total of 370,000 years of lifespan, this was undoubtedly a monumental victory. Without hesitation, Su Mu immediately invested 150,000 years into upgrading his Earth Force. The Earth Force promptly advanced from the eighth to the ninth tier.

The landscape of the Misty Forbidden Zone underwent a dramatic transformation. The distance between Su Mu and the edge of the Ancient Wilderness Mountains increased from 150 to 200 miles. The width of the Sui River expanded to 2,000 feet. The shallowest depth of the underground world deepened from 15,000 to 20,000 feet, with the deepest point extending to 60,000 feet. The height of the underground world reached 40,000 feet, and its diameter expanded from 150,000 to 200,000 feet, equivalent to 133 miles. The underground dragon veins became more solid.

Next, Su Mu spent 50,000 years upgrading the Phantom Snow Eyes to the eighth tier. Both the Sword Mastery and the Heart of Faith were also elevated to the eighth tier.

[Species: Spirit Ginkgo Tree]

[Height: 1,030 feet]

[Lifespan: 2,000 years]

[Rank: Fifth-tier, Mid-grade]

[Abilities: Innate Talent Duplication, Life Essence Condensation, Heaven and Human Induction, Eighth-tier Earth Fiend Transformation, Ninth-tier Power of Mist, Ninth-tier Earth Force, Eighth-tier Phantom Snow Eye, Eighth-tier Sword Mastery, Eighth-tier Heart of Faith, Seventh-tier Water Breathing, Seventh-tier Metal Splitting Power, Fourth-tier Heart Peering, Fourth-tier Bloodsucking Power, Second-tier Life Anchor]

Su Mu planned to have himself and the Misty Forbidden Zone lie low for a while. But, as often happens, the world doesn’t always conform to one’s plans.

“Divine Tree Lord.”

A frantic thought from Ruan Hui’an came through the Heart of Faith, reaching Su Mu’s consciousness.

“What’s wrong?” Su Mu’s mind tensed.

“Last night, Beiding City in the Nanzhao Kingdom suddenly launched an attack on us,” Ruan Hui’an explained. “At first, I thought we could handle it easily, but unexpectedly, a mysterious force appeared from Beiding City. This force is incredibly powerful, with members who are elusive and deadly. Under their assault, our elite Wolf Cavalry suffered severe losses. Two members of the Su family…”

She hesitated before finally forcing out the rest, “Two Su family members were killed, forty-eight were injured, three spirit wolves died, and fifty-six were injured. Moreover, Lord Wolf King and Su Qing have gone missing.”

Su Mu’s mood darkened immediately. Since the formation of the Misty Forbidden Zone army, they had always been relatively unscathed, with no significant losses among the core members. Yet now, they had suffered such severe damage, and key figures like the variant spirit wolf and Su Qing were missing.

“Is this mysterious force part of the Nanzhao Kingdom’s military?” Su Mu asked.

“I don’t think so,” Ruan Hui’an replied. “I’m quite familiar with the Nanzhao Kingdom; they don’t possess such an elite and mysterious force.”

“Then have the Nanzhao Kingdom cooperate with us to find this mysterious force and locate the Wolf King and Su Qing,” Su Mu said coldly.

“This…” Ruan Hui’an hesitated, “I’m afraid my words won’t carry much weight with the Nanzhao Kingdom.”

“Tell them it’s a demand from the Misty Forbidden Zone!” Su Mu commanded firmly.

Given the severity of the situation, he had no intention of hiding anymore. In situations like this, one must show strength, not hide it.

“Yes!” Ruan Hui’an felt a surge of excitement. She immediately relayed Su Mu’s demands to the Nanzhao Kingdom.

“The Misty Forbidden Zone poses no threat to us,” the Nanzhao Kingdom’s general responded dismissively, full of bravado.

Ruan Hui’an was furious but could only report this back to Su Mu.

Su Mu shared this news with his commanders.

“What?”

“Who dares to attack members of the Misty Forbidden Zone?”

“The Nanzhao Kingdom is being reckless. We’re giving them a chance by asking for their cooperation, and they dare to disrespect us?”

The commanders were outraged. Su Mu turned to the Purple-Gold Mosquito and the Shadow Beetle, “You two, stay hidden and investigate the real culprits.”

“Yes,” the Purple-Gold Mosquito and Shadow Beetle replied solemnly before quickly disappearing without a trace.

After they left, Su Mu turned his gaze back to the other commanders. Without waiting for Su Mu to speak, Su Yao stepped forward, “Since the Nanzhao Kingdom refuses to cooperate and claims the Misty Forbidden Zone is not a threat, we should show them the consequences of offending us.”

“I leave this matter to you all,” Su Mu said calmly. He was just as angry about the situation, but after the battle in Kunlun, he knew his commanders had grown significantly. He trusted them to handle this matter without his direct involvement.

Rumbling noises soon followed as the commanders of the Misty Forbidden Zone led their armies to Nanzhao. Fresh off their victory in Kunlun, their morale was high, and they were itching for action. The Nanzhao Kingdom had picked the worst possible time to provoke them, essentially walking into the lion’s den.

At the edge of the Misty Forbidden Zone, a shadowy figure watched, observing the zone closely. Upon closer inspection, it was a human male. Though not physically small, he had completely concealed himself within the treetops—a master of stealth.

But suddenly, the ground began to tremble. The trees and the very air around him quivered violently.

“What’s happening?” The shadowy figure sensed something was wrong. As he looked ahead, his eyes widened in shock.
