Su Mu’s thoughts about the difference in the loyalty of his spirit beasts and Su Yao quickly passed. He knew that one must learn to be content. His expectations shouldn’t be too high.

The Snow Spirit Mink and the Spirit Crows were simple creatures. Even without the Heart of Faith, Su Mu could easily control them. Furthermore, since he possessed the Heart of Faith, he could clearly convey his intentions to them, which was enough.

In the blink of an eye, eight days passed.

The previous beast tide had left behind a large number of corpses, including those of wild beasts and even spirit beasts. The Snow Spirit Mink and the Spirit Crows had only now finished consuming them, and their strength had grown significantly as a result.

[Species: Snow Spirit Mink]
[Length: 6 feet]
[Lifespan: 150 years]
[Rank: First-Tier, Supreme Grade]
[Ability: Phantom Snow Eyes]

[Species: Spirit Crow]
[Length: 4 feet]
[Lifespan: 80 years]
[Rank: FirstTier, Upper Grade]
[Ability: Gale Force]

Their increased power significantly boosted their efficiency in capturing prey. Additionally, the faith energy from Su Yao accumulated gradually, providing Su Mu with an extra one or two years of lifespan every day.

Previously, Su Mu had been gaining an average of 30 years of lifespan per day. Now, that figure increased to 40 years. This meant that in just eight short days, Su Mu had accumulated over 1,000 years of lifespan once again.

[Lifespan: 1050 years]

On this particular day, Su Mu sensed a massive presence approaching.

“It’s that albino python,” Su Mu thought, his heart racing with excitement.

The last time he encountered this python, he had been filled with fear, but now the situation was entirely different.

[Species: White Spirit Python]
[Length: 50 feet]
[Lifespan: 80 years]
[Rank: First-Tier, Middle Grade]
[Ability: Power of Mist]

Despite being at the same rank, this python had a significantly longer lifespan than other creatures, which was to be expected. Ordinary pythons naturally had longer lifespans, some reaching up to 40 years.

But what intrigued Su Mu was its ability: the Power of Mist.

Su Mu initially planned to kill the python, but after reading its panel information, he changed his mind. The Power of Mist could be extremely useful.

As Su Mu’s body continued to grow, he would become more and more conspicuous. Being able to hide himself with mist would be crucial for his continued low-profile development.

Su Mu decided to use the same method he had employed to tame the Snow Spirit Mink in order to subdue the White Spirit Python.

However, he quickly realized that this python was far less intelligent and much more stubborn than the mink. In one word, it was “reckless.”

While the Snow Spirit Mink had quickly given in once it realized it couldn’t resist, the White Spirit Python continued to fight back furiously, even as it suffered severe injuries.

Su Mu even released it, but instead of fleeing, the python continued to confront him, flicking its tongue aggressively as if refusing to give up until one of them was dead.

If it weren’t for the fact that the python’s ability was so appealing, Su Mu would have already killed it in frustration.

“I thought snakes were supposed to be smart, and shouldn’t they be even smarter after spiritual transformation?” Su Mu wondered, realizing that this particular python was quite the anomaly.

“But I’m not giving up on you, you stubborn brute,” Su Mu thought, determined to tame the creature.

He conjured a Spirit Ginkgo Fruit.

The White Spirit Python paused, clearly sensing the allure of the fruit despite its limited intelligence.

“Hmph,” Su Mu snorted as he divided the Spirit Ginkgo Fruit into ten pieces.

He fed the python a small portion, allowing its wounds to heal quickly. Then, he used his branches to give it a thorough beating. After repeating this process ten times, the python finally stopped resisting.

“Not so tough now, are you?” Su Mu thought, feeling a sense of satisfaction as the python finally submitted, lying prostrate before him.

This time, when the White Spirit Python flicked its tongue, it wasn’t a challenge; it was a gesture of submission.

“Well, since you’ve finally come around, I’ll give you another fruit,” Su Mu said, conjuring another Spirit Ginkgo Fruit.

After consuming and absorbing this fruit, the White Spirit Python advanced to a First-Tier, Upper Grade spirit beast.

[Species: White Spirit Python]
[Length: 60 feet]
[Lifespan: 150 years]
[Rank: First-Tier, Upper Grade]
[Ability: Power of Mist]

The Snow Spirit Mink and the Spirit Crows began to chatter, clearly envious of the python’s good fortune. Su Mu didn’t want to play favorites, so he conjured eleven more Spirit Ginkgo Fruits, giving them to the Snow Spirit Mink and the Spirit Crows. Although their ranks didn’t increase, their internal energy became purer.

Feeling the joy of his spirit beasts, Su Mu couldn’t help but smile.

Then, Su Mu connected his consciousness with that of the White Spirit Python.

“Power of Mist, copy!”

Without hesitation, Su Mu copied the python’s ability, consuming 300 years of lifespan in the process.

Su Mu eagerly activated his new ability.

Buzz!

The air around him began to stir, gathering into a dense mist.

Within a quarter of an hour, the area within a three-mile radius around Su Mu was completely shrouded in mist. He also noticed that his perception of everything within this mist-covered area became much sharper.

“This range isn’t enough,” Su Mu thought. The three-mile radius was far too small; if humans wanted to find him, they still could.

“Enhance.”

Su Mu injected 500 years of lifespan into the Power of Mist.

The Power of Mist instantly advanced to the Second-Tier.

[Species: Spirit Ginkgo]
[Height: 170 feet]
[Lifespan: 250 years]
[Rank: Second-Tier, Upper Grade]
[Abilities: Complete Spirit Infusion, Congeal Spirit Ginkgo Fruit, Innate Talent Duplication, Second-Tier Phantom Snow Eyes, First-Tier Heart of Faith, Second-Tier Power of Mist]

Su Mu’s rank finally broke through, advancing from Second-Tier, Middle Grade to Second-Tier, Upper Grade.

At the same time, under Su Mu’s control, the mist expanded further. Eventually, the mist covered a ten-mile radius around Su Mu.

Su Mu had the Spirit Crows use their Wind’s Power to whip up strong winds around the area. However, the mist was extraordinary; even the powerful winds couldn’t disperse it.

“Excellent,” Su Mu thought, thoroughly pleased.

Within the mist-covered area, the sensory abilities of other creatures were severely diminished, while Su Mu’s perception became even more acute. This gave him a significant advantage in this environment.

The sudden change unsettled the Snow Spirit Mink, the Spirit Crows, and the White Spirit Python. Su Mu didn’t bother to comfort them this time; he wanted them to adapt to the new environment on their own. This would be beneficial for them as well. Moreover, the mist would also help them hide.

Eight hundred miles away, in Nanjing City, within the City Lord’s mansion, a middle-aged man with an imposing presence and sharp features frowned as he stood before a map on the wall.

“Lord City Lord,” a young man in white standing behind the middle-aged man said, his eyes filled with respect.

The middle-aged man was Li Qianjue, the City Lord of Nanjing City, a Qi Refining expert at the peak of his rank.

“Deputy General Wen, what’s the situation?” Li Qianjue asked.

“According to the formation’s detection, the spiritual energy density throughout Nanjing is rapidly increasing,” Wen Yuchao reported. “This confirms the court’s assessment that the calamity period has passed and that the spiritual energy of the world is gradually being restored.”

The cycle of destruction and restoration is a fundamental law of the universe, known as the “Dao.” Human cultivation is, in essence, the act of seizing energy from heaven and earth, which damages the Dao.

Therefore, every so often, the Dao initiates a calamity as a means of self-repair. These calamities are catastrophic for humanity.

Each time a calamity occurs, the spiritual energy of the world gradually dries up. This era of spiritual energy depletion had persisted for three thousand years, dealing a devastating blow to all races.

Humanity was not spared from this devastation. But finally, in recent times, the spiritual energy of the world had begun to recover.
