Though they now claimed to look down on Jiang Minghui, truth be told, they weren’t some steel-straight men who found homosexuality disgusting. If someone like Jiang Minghui pursued them like that, they couldn’t be certain that they wouldn’t give in.

How could Xia Zhixu possibly turn down such a rich second-generation heir?

And everyone saw how devoted Jiang Minghui was to Xia Zhixu.

Just what was Xia Zhixu dissatisfied with about Jiang Minghui?

“Have you made yourself clear?”

Zhao Zihe had been ready to argue—or even fight—with Xia Zhixu, but Xia Zhixu’s calm words left him speechless.

“Mm, I don’t think we’re compatible. I already returned everything he gave me.”

Xia Zhixu nodded obediently, then gathered his courage to look Zhao Zihe straight in the eye.

“So if you like him, you should go for it!”

With that, Xia Zhixu walked toward his own desk.

After a long moment, Zhao Zihe exploded in anger and embarrassment.

“Are you out of your mind? Who said I like him?! I’m fucking straight!!…”

Startled, Xia Zhixu pressed his lips and turned back. He strongly disagreed with Zhao Zihe’s statement. Though timid, he knew deliberately hiding one’s sexual orientation was not right—and if someone was homosexual yet still dated the opposite sex, that was even worse.

Clenching her fists, he looked at Zhao Zihe earnestly and advised, “Liking men or women is perfectly normal. You shouldn’t avoid it—avoiding it is an irresponsible act.”

He was certain Zhao Zihe liked Jiang Minghui.

Zhao Zihe’s expression turned utterly priceless.

Yuan Bao, “Host… you’ve grown! Now you can even speak with subtle sarcasm!

Yuan Bao couldn’t help but wipe tears with a tiny handkerchief, feeling like a parent whose child had grown up.

Xia Zhixu tilted his head in confusion, “I wasn’t being sarcastic with him.”

Yuan Bao, “Ah, this…”

Yuan Bao stared at Xia Zhixu for a long moment, feeling a bit alarmed.

‘Could it be that he really didn’t mean to mock Zhao Zihe?’

‘Sorry, it was just being too mean. How could it think that of Xia Zhixu? He was just a pure baby!’

But Zhao Zihe didn’t see it that way. He was convinced Xia Zhixu was deliberately playing hard to get.

Never feeling so humiliated before, Zhao Zihe held his breath for a moment before snarling, “You’ve got some nerve!”

To Xia Zhixu, Zhao Zihe was clearly lashing out in anger after being exposed.

Xia Zhixu glanced at Zhao Zihe with a hint of fear mixed with disapproval.

That glance carried enough lethal effect, Zhao Zihe almost coughed up blood.

He felt as if Xia Zhixu was saying, ‘Liking men isn’t something to be ashamed of. Are you going to hit me just because I said the truth? Really? Are you serious?’

Chen Mingyu and Zhou Ziwen exchanged glances and quickly spoke up to lighten the mood.

“Boss Zhao, didn’t you say we were going out to eat claypot rice? If we’re late, there won’t be any left. Let’s go eat first.”

“Yeah, yeah! Sister Shi Yue is still waiting for us.”

“Hmph!” Zhao Zihe snorted coldly.

“Count yourself lucky! For the sake of Sister Shi Yue’s face, this young master won’t bother arguing with you!”

Xia Zhixu watched the three walk away, puzzled. He’d spoken the truth and even kindly advised Zhao Zihe—so why did he still look so furious?

Yuan Bao followed to eavesdrop. The trio spent the entire walk badmouthing Xia Zhixu, especially Zhao Ziwen. Furious, Yuan Bao bought a bad luck talisman with its system points and stuck it on Zhou Ziwen’s back.

Zhao Ziwen abruptly stopped, looking around in confusion.

Zhao Zihe frowned.

“What’s wrong?”

Zhao Ziwen gave an embarrassed chuckle, scratching his head.

“I don’t know. Just felt a sudden chill on my back—maybe it’s the wind.”

“Hurry up and let’s go. Stop being so paranoid!”

Zhao Zihe’s eyes flashed with impatience.

After tidying up, Xia Zhixu kept staring at his phone.

Yuan Bao, “Host, are you practising killing intent in your gaze?”

According to what Yuan Bao had read had it in materials, some people trained their eyes by staring at an object to cultivate killing intent, gaining a psychological edge over their enemies.

Xia Zhixu’s eyes turned red.

‘Wuwu… Yuan Bao, why hasn’t Song Qingchuan sent me a message yet?’

Yuan Bao, “…”

‘Host (σ-`д・´) being love-struck isn’t good!!’

Xia Zhixu clenched his fists and frowned.

‘If Song Qingchuan didn’t text him before bedtime, he’d cut ties with him for three days—no, one day!!’

‘Let him suffer the hardship, with no one to turn to for sympathy.’

Yuan Bao, “…”

‘Wow, what a “terrifying” punishment.’

No, it couldn’t stand by and watch the host gradually become a hopeless romantic. For the sake of their mission—and for the sake of having a strong, badass, cool, domineering, godlike host—

Yuan Bao glanced at Xia Zhixu and decided that it was unrealistic. It revised its goal to at least have a smart and clever host instead. It needed to guide him properly.

Yuan Bao, “Host, you could actually do something else instead. We could go out and do some good deeds, like helping an old lady cross the street! Time passes quickly when you’re doing good things, and Song Qingchuan will contact you when he gets off work.”

Xia Zhixu tilted his head slightly, his big eyes blinking innocently. Yuan Bao felt like it had just been hit in the heart.

Though Xia Zhixu wasn’t as cool and domineering as the handsome ones, he was just as beautiful.

‘Wuwu… happiness.’

Xia Zhixu, “But… I don’t have any money.”

Yuan Bao, “Huh? No money?”

Xia Zhixu, “Yuan Bao, you’re so dumb! Haven’t you seen the news? Lots of people ended up paying compensation after helping old ladies and grandpas.”

Yuan Bao froze in shock.

‘Really?’

Then it hurriedly checked the information. After reading it, the little dumpling-looking blob’s whole form seemed to scrunch up in distress.

‘Humans are truly… so hard to understand!’

It felt like its CPU was overheating.

Xia Zhixu, “Only one more hour until Song Qingchuan gets off work. It’ll pass quickly.”

Yuan Bao, “…”

Xia Zhixu rested his head on the desk, tapping his phone rhythmically. He’d waited so many years for Lu Heyan—one hour was nothing.

Meanwhile, Zhao Zihe took Zhou Ziwen, and the others didn’t actually go for claypot rice but to a restaurant they often visited for drypot. Unexpectedly, they ran into Jiang Minghui and his friends dining there.

Seeing Jiang Minghui, Zhao Zihe immediately recalled Xia Zhixu’s words, feeling a mix of guilt and subtle excitement.

For reasons unknown, he casually chose a seat near Jiang Minghui’s table.

The restaurant featured U-shaped sofas with dining tables placed in the centre. Zhao Zihe sat on the sofa adjacent to Jiang Minghui’s table, clearly overhearing their conversation.

“…He really broke up with you? Didn’t he just agree to be with you?”

“Yeah, boss, after all that time and money you spent on him, you’re just letting it go like that?”

“Hahaha, what’s the big deal? Brother Jiang is never short of people anyway. Besides, didn’t he just win the bet?”

Zhao Zihe’s heart clenched. His hands tightened.

‘Had they really broken up?’

‘Had Xia Zhixu not lied to him?’

“You guys don’t know shit! He returned every single thing I gave him. He’s nothing like those other guys. Do you know what he told me?”

Jiang Minghui’s voice carried a hint of amusement.
