The feather-like ticklish sensation made Luo Ning unable to suppress a giggle.

Lin Ze stroked his belly, it felt comfortable to touch, soft and squishy. He chuckled lightly and kissed Luo Ning’s lips. “Ning Ning, it seems like you’ve gained a bit of weight recently.”

Huh? Luo Ning felt a little dizzy from the kiss and blankly looked up. Was he saying he had gotten fat?!

Luo Ning’s eyes widened in surprise, and then he lowered his eyelids, a bit displeased. Okay, he had gained some weight. His face had developed some baby fat, and his waist had thickened a bit.

But why did Lin Ze have to point it out? After all, with all this idleness and good food, it would be strange if he didn’t gain weight.

Feeling a bit resentful, Luo Ning pinched Lin Ze’s abdominal muscles. He felt a deep sense of unfairness. Why was everyone living a lazy life while Lin Ze still maintained his eight-pack abs? That was just too much.

He leaned closer to Lin Ze and bit him. He decided that for the next month, he would eat only vegetables and absolutely wouldn’t let himself gain any more weight.

Both of them thought it was just simple weight gain. Luo Ning tried to suppress his appetite, pitifully nibbling on some vegetable leaves. Lin Ze stopped him, unable to understand the concept of dieting. The soft, tender feeling was too comfortable. He loved holding his partner like this. Besides, his partner always looked at him with such longing eyes. How could Lin Ze resist?

But Lin Ze’s words were ineffective. Luo Ning was determined not to continue gaining weight. But after a few days of eating vegetables, he inexplicably started to feel unwell. His head felt dizzy, and he couldn’t tell if it was from dieting, but he always felt extremely hungry and craved sour and sweet dried fruits.

Luo Ning lay in Lin Ze’s arms, feeling drowsy. Lin Ze’s large hand rested on his belly. The atmosphere was quiet and warm. But suddenly, Lin Ze’s expression changed. His brows furrowed, and he anxiously felt around Luo Ning’s belly.

It wasn’t a hallucination. He could indeed feel a subtle, rhythmic beating inside.

Lin Ze’s first reaction was that something was growing inside Luo Ning. He sat up in a panic but then thought of something. His pupils constricted as he pressed his ear against Luo Ning’s belly, feeling it carefully.

Seeing Lin Ze’s serious expression, Luo Ning also sensed something was off. He propped himself up in confusion and looked at his belly. “What’s wrong?”

Could it be because he had eaten too much? But there wouldn’t be a need for such surprise. He hadn’t gained that much weight yet.

Lin Ze paused for a moment, his large hand holding Luo Ning cautiously. He speculated, “Ning Ning, you might be pregnant.”

In Lin Ze’s understanding, a female would have such regulated movement in his belly only after becoming pregnant. Thinking it over, they had been mates for half a year, so having a baby was quite normal.

Lin Ze had initially wondered what it would be like to have a child, but soon he lost all expectations. He was enough for his partner. Why let a child come and intervene and take away his partner’s attention? Not even if it was his own child. The strong and possessive nature of the snake beast was ingrained in him.

But now, it was really possible. Although Lin Ze wasn’t overly excited, he felt quite strange inside. After all, it was his beloved partner who was carrying their child.

Luo Ning felt as if his mind had exploded. He was dazed. “What did you say?!”

How could a man get pregnant? That was not normal. For Luo Ning, it was like a bolt from the blue. But then he remembered that his identity in this world was a female, so there really was that possibility.

Luo Ning was stunned. His first reaction was shock. He felt incredibly unlucky and couldn’t believe such a bizarre thing was happening. He hoped it was all false. This completely shattered his previous worldview. All Luo Ning felt was fear.

He touched his belly. Even though he was unwilling to believe it, there was a slight curve forming. He couldn’t help but feel uneasy.

His eyes were watery, his lashes were pitifully drooping, and he pouted. The thought of having a child was just too terrifying.

He glared at Lin Ze, blaming the lecherous snake. What should he do now? What if there really was something inside him? He had been enjoying himself with this lecherous snake, and now he was the one who might be pregnant. What would be born? A little beastman, or a few eggs?

Luo Ning was startled by his own thoughts and quickly shook his head. What was he thinking? How could he be so sure? It must just be that he had gained weight. He was just thinking about getting fat.

Lin Ze gently stroked his back, softly comforting him. He said with difficulty, “Ning Ning, don’t be afraid. It will be fine when it’s born. It won’t hurt. There are special pain-relieving fruits that will help you give birth easily.”

Although he didn’t want anything to disturb their world of two, now that it was happening, what could he do? Lin Ze thought that when the time came, he could just set the child aside. All that was needed was to feed it, nothing more.

Luo Ning slapped him irritably and complained, “You make it sound so easy. Why don’t you give birth to one yourself?”

Lin Ze frowned. “I can’t give birth.”

Luo Ning sighed, then fell back with a thud. He felt overwhelmed. Today had been too much for him.

Despite his reluctance, Luo Ning’s belly continued to swell like a balloon. He transformed his grief into appetite, his face growing rounder. The dizzy feeling earlier was probably due to the lack of meat. The child inside him needed nutrition.

Now, Luo Ning was certain about it. He was definitely pregnant. He cradled his belly, letting out a long sigh, marveling at how this baby came to be. After much mental preparation, he reluctantly accepted the reality.

At first, the sensation was strange, but as his belly grew and he felt movements inside, Luo Ning gradually got used to it. This was his child, connected to him by blood, and slowly, a tiny, barely noticeable sense of anticipation began to bloom in his heart.

Lin Ze was also shocked that he lost his drowsiness. He forced himself to be alert and went out every day to hunt for fresh prey. They had already eaten all the chickens at home, but with the heavy snowfall, even though he was skilled at hunting, he could only catch prey occasionally.

Luo Ning looked at the small pot not far away, steam rising from it. The aroma made him lick his lips. He curled up, and when it was finally cooked, he eagerly took a bite of the lamb.

It wasn’t as delicious as he had imagined. Instead, the gamey smell made him feel nauseous and his chest tighten. Luo Ning frowned, feeling so pitiful. Being pregnant was so hard, and he couldn’t even eat properly.

Seeing his partner’s tearful expression, Lin Ze felt anxious and pained. He wrapped his arms around Luo Ning. “Ning Ning, don’t you like to eat vegetables? Let’s not eat this anymore.”

“I’ll roast sweet potatoes for you and find some wild vegetables.”

Luo Ning also wanted to, but those didn’t provide enough nutrition. If he didn’t eat meat, the baby inside would be restless. He couldn’t help but act unreasonably, his emotions swinging wildly. “Aren’t you worried about the baby? Do you want to starve it with sweet potatoes?”

Lin Ze felt speechless and wronged but couldn’t argue. He patiently coaxed him. It was natural for a pregnant partner to throw a small fit, plus his partner was already exhausted due to pregnancy. As a good beastman, he needed to pamper his partner.

He gently soothed Luo Ning, easing his irritation, and added some radishes to the soup, coaxing Luo Ning to eat.

It used to be Lin Ze who dozed off, but now it was Luo Ning who felt lethargic and wanted to sleep all day.

He heard that the pregnancy here lasted only six months, and he eagerly anticipated the arrival of their child, hoping it would be during the warm spring.

…

Heavy snow fell continuously for an entire month without a break. Outside, everything was silver-white, with no other color in sight. The snow could reach his knees.

But Luo Ning needed to go out for a walk every day to feel comfortable, so Lin Ze cleared all the snow around their home.

Outside, there was a special grass hut where they kept two captured rabbits and a couple of chickens. The vegetable garden was also cleared of snow, ready to be harvested any time.

In the middle of the night, Lin Ze noticed a faint movement outside. Annoyed at being disturbed, he opened the door and coldly looked out, only to discover two beastmen attempting to steal radishes and even some chickens.

Lin Ze furrowed his brows, his gaze sharp. They were stealing chickens? He had worked hard to find them, and those chickens were needed to provide eggs for his partner every day.

Lin Ze charged forward, his tail sweeping the two beastmen away. Both were wandering beastmen, looking thin and ragged.

Knowing they were in the wrong, they awkwardly apologized.

They were homeless, and in winter, it was difficult to find food. They couldn’t risk raiding the tribe. For the past few days, they hadn’t eaten any normal food and had been surviving on snow.

Starving and dizzy, their minds were clouded. They spotted a cave glowing faintly and couldn’t resist approaching it. At the brink of starvation, they disregarded everything else and rushed in, finding wild vegetables piled on the ground. They quickly grabbed them to eat, and when they saw the wild chickens, their eyes lit up.

Knowing they couldn’t fight Lin Ze, they hurriedly apologized.

Lin Ze took the chicken back. Thankfully, it was unharmed. The thieves were trembling. If he hit them again, they might collapse at his doorstep. Lin Ze told them to get lost, warning them not to disturb his sleep again.

The two beastmen fell silent for a moment. But the next day, they returned, desperately bringing a large bundle of firewood with the intention to trade for some radishes.

Lin Ze was unwilling. He needed to save the radishes for Luo Ning. However, seeing the two beastmen looking half-dead, he coldly watched them for a while and tossed them two sweet potatoes.

He told them not to come back and get in his way. If they didn’t want to die, they should find a way to catch fish in the river.

When spring arrived, Lin Ze impatiently flicked his tail. Many annoying beastmen had moved into the forest, occasionally bothering him.

The wandering beastmen weren’t vicious. They had only been expelled from the tribe. They all admired Lin Ze greatly, thinking it impressive that a wandering beastman could have such a beautiful female. They heard that Lin Ze’s mate had been picked up in the forest, and they wandered around the forest daily, filled with enthusiasm.

When a certain wandering beastman really found a partner, the grass in the forest was nearly trampled bare.

As the weather warmed up, Luo Ning’s pregnancy became increasingly hard, and he no longer dared to move around outside. One day, when a sharp pain shot through his belly, he ate some prepared pregnancy fruit. In a hazy state, he heard a crying sound.

What was born was a chubby white baby, not the eggs Luo Ning had imagined. Both he and Lin Ze were very surprised.

Given how active his belly had been, they had both expected a beastman cub. They never expected it would be a soft little female.

With eyes like black grapes, the tiny bundle clenched its little fists, melting Luo Ning’s heart. He didn’t care how the baby came into the world. His son was just too adorable, and his heart was already softening.

Lin Ze felt a bit distressed, awkwardly holding the baby. If it had been a little beastman, he could have easily set it aside, but it was a fragile and delicate little female.

He was at a loss, and the baby was more troublesome than he had imagined. It wouldn’t sleep at night and would cry loudly, nearly shattering his eardrums. He was worn down to the point of losing his temper.

Lin Ze had no time to hunt anymore. Every day was spent taking care of his partner and the cub, not to mention fending off the various silly antics of the wandering beastmen who wanted to see the cub.
