Lin Ze loosened his grip slightly, resting his chin on Luo Ning’s hair, his hands still tightly wrapped around him in a possessive gesture. “Ning Ning is timid. You’ll sleep better if I hold you like this.”
“If you don’t like hugs, then I’ll just wrap you with my snake tail to sleep.”
Luo Ning was furious. He reasonably suspected that this was a threat. He glared at the rogue beastman with dissatisfaction and closed his eyes in anger.
Anyway, this rogue had selective hearing and ignored any protests he made. There was no use in resisting anymore.
Luo Ning initially thought Lin Ze saw him merely as a pillow, but as he lay against that cool chest, his consciousness gradually blurred. He suddenly recalled that he seemed to be a so-called female in this world, a sensitive identity.
Was this snake actually interested in him? Was that why he was being so nice and intimate with him, even wanting to sleep close together?
Luo Ning’s mind raced with this guess, making it hard to sleep. Feeling the gentle patting on his back further confirmed his suspicion.
Luo Ning’s eyelashes fluttered, panic rising in his heart. If that was true, what should he do? He couldn’t leave for his mission, but he couldn’t just be in a relationship with a snake beastman either.
This was too much for his consciousness to handle.
Despite the snake being handsome, considerate, and caring, Luo Ning couldn’t help but think of the complications.
He listed his concerns. Aside from being a beastman, there didn’t seem to be any major drawbacks.
Having a good-looking boyfriend didn’t seem all that hard to accept.
Luo Ning’s mind was a jumble of thoughts about whether to sacrifice for the mission or for looks. As he thought of this, his consciousness faded again. Forget it, he would just go with the flow.
Meanwhile, Lin Ze gently gazed at the person in his arms, cherishing him like a treasure. He couldn’t bear to close his eyes. Joyful until dawn, he quickly went out of the cave to hunt. He wanted to catch the most tender quail and hunt large prey, and also gather some wild fruits.
Now that he had a partner to care for, he had to consider everything. Thinking about having a warm home in the future made Lin Ze’s eyes glimmer with a soft light.
He quickened his pace. He had to return to roast meat for the little female.
When Luo Ning woke up, he found himself alone. The grass nest was empty. The fire had gone out, and all the remnants from yesterday had been cleaned up. A beam of golden sunlight filtered through the cave entrance above him. It must have been a beautiful morning outside.
Luo Ning wasn’t sure where Lin Ze had gone, but he guessed he must be off looking for food. Feeling a bit thirsty and not wanting to stay in the dim cave any longer, he thought about going out to see the surrounding scenery.
The cave entrance was steep and high, making it difficult to climb. Luo Ning thought for a while and chipped two holes in the cave wall with a stone to give his feet a foothold. After much effort, he finally managed to climb out, panting heavily. He decided he definitely needed to move someday. Living in such a damp place was inconvenient.
The surroundings were filled with trees, but the vegetation wasn’t too dense. There were a few wildflowers along the roadside, and behind the cave was a small hillside.
The sunlight filtered through the trees, casting shadows through the woods. Dewdrops trembled on the grass blades, and the sound of birds chirping created a picturesque scene.
Luo Ning didn’t wander too far. He strolled around nearby, hoping to find a stream and look for familiar plants that could be used as seasonings. Meat without flavor was too hard to eat.
After finding nothing, Luo Ning decided to head back.
