The black flames surrounded the octopus like a massive net, corroding and burning its limbs. The octopus let out a pained shriek and waved the flames on its legs wildly.

At this moment, it had completely locked onto Mu Chengfeng, intent on killing the human that had provoked it.

It only had five limbs left. Mu Chengfeng’s black mist prevented the octopus from getting close. Coupled with the ability users launching surprise attacks, it was eventually torn apart. The air finally turned quiet. Only a dark green crystal core remained on the ground.

Mu Chengfeng picked up the crystal core, returned to the car with a cold expression, and held Luo Ning’s hand reassuringly. Looking back, he frowned. The two injured team members were slowly showing signs of zombie transformation.

Luo Ning understood the dangers of this world and had become much more tougher. Having witnessed so much death, the thought of losing two more companions made him clench his fists, feeling a bit uncomfortable in silence.

Not long ago, everyone had still been talking.

In the end, one ability user survived and showed signs of awakening a second ability, proving that Luo Ning’s powers were indeed useful. However, the other ability user turned into a zombie, remaining forever outside the base.

Mu Chengfeng had no other choice. He also hated death. After obtaining the experimental equipment, he asked the base’s experts to begin research. He treated the family of the zombie ability user with favor and fed the dark green crystal core to the vines growing in the corner.

After absorbing the core’s energy, the main vine grew larger, its branches extending infinitely, sprouting sharp thorns that completely enveloped and protected the base.

Luo Ning felt that his abilities were useful. After all, he had once drunk the gene modification liquid. He wanted to help in some way and secretly provided two drops of his blood for research. To protect him, Mu Chengfeng ensured that this matter remained hidden.

…

In the empty city center, only the sounds of zombies tearing echoed. After a slight ripple in the air, a figure appeared out of nowhere.

Mu Shan collapsed to the ground, feeling a sense of relief. While there was food inside her space, she couldn’t stay there for long because the air inside was limited. She had no choice but to exit.

The pain from the burns on her body still lingered, nearly causing her to faint, but her will to survive was strong. She couldn’t afford to stay. Zombies were still around, and she needed to escape and seek revenge!

The blood on the ground was dark black. The scene of Qin Feng being pierced through the chest lingered in her mind. She gritted her teeth and whispered an apology. She thought to herself that her reaction had been instinctual. Qin Feng would not blame her.

After taking a few steps, Mu Shan noticed zombies approaching. She cursed under her breath and hurried back into her space. The zombies’ dark eyes moved twice, somewhat puzzled by the disappearance of their prey. They paused for a moment before dispersing.

When Mu Shan could no longer breathe and came out again, it was completely dark. She didn’t dare to act at night and wanted to find a place to rest for the night. However, she failed to notice something lurking in the darkness. The moment she stepped out of the space, a gust of wind rushed by. She instinctively tried to dodge but was pierced in the neck by sharp claws.

Mu Shan’s pupils dilated, her consciousness fading. She couldn’t believe she was dying like this!

She had a feeling that her fate shouldn’t be like this. After all, she was a time traveler with a golden finger. She should be living like the protagonists in novels, thriving and flourishing. Why was the outcome like this? Deep-seated unwillingness and resentment washed over her.
