The vine was enraged. It had lost two precious petals from its beloved flower, which it absolutely could not tolerate. Not afraid of pain, it attacked again, its branches dancing wildly in the air.

Luo Ning grabbed the dog’s ear. Now, it knew how to be scared. He wanted to soothe the vine. Small, bright green light spots floated out of his palm. The light was warm and drifted away little by little.

As a wood-type ability user, he was naturally closer to plants. His powers should help the vine feel friendly.

The sharp thorns at the end of the vine lunged towards his heart, but when they touched one of the floating light spots, they paused for an instant and slowly stopped their movement. The vine felt a pleasant sensation that made it want to sleep. The green buds on the vine had the urge to sprout.

The vine stopped its attack, and its emotions were slowly being soothed. It cautiously tested the waters, trying to find the source of this warm feeling.

Eventually, it identified Luo Ning’s direction and floated towards him gently.

But Mu Chengfeng stepped in front of Luo Ning. Black mist surrounded them threateningly. The vine anxiously tried to move past, but the burning pain seemed to still linger on its body and it dared not move. It contracted and expanded, testing the waters repeatedly.

Unable to resist, it twisted into various shapes on the ground, trying to express its friendliness and affection. It decided not to hold a grudge against that dead dog.

Mu Chengfeng frowned. Somehow, he seemed to recognize the familiar taste of flattery.

He held his little lover tightly, a feeling of unease building. He quickly said, “Baby, it’s all sorted out. You should go rest now.”

Luo Ning shook his head. As if sensing the vine’s emotions, he pointed at it and said, “It doesn’t want to leave. I feel like it wants to get closer to me.”

Luo Ning took a step forward, and the vine perked up happily. He found it quite amusing and went over to take a look. He shook Mu Chengfeng’s hand. “Don’t stop it. It’s quite cute. It doesn’t have any intention of attacking anymore.”

Mu Chengfeng advised, “Baby, it’s dangerous and ugly.”

Luo Ning responded, “You’re here. Stop hesitating. It wants to do something, so it won’t leave.”

Mu Chengfeng could only glare at the vine.

The vine enthusiastically scurried over, shaking off the annoying Flower Pig. Then shaking its body, it displayed its lush leaves and the pink flower to Luo Ning.

It liked this two-legged creature and wanted to be rubbed.

Luo Ning found it amusing. He smiled lightly and let the green light spots emerge from his palm, surrounding the vine. Suddenly, pink flowers bloomed from its branches. The vine stiffened for a moment before twisting even more joyfully.

Thus, to Mu Chengfeng’s disappointment, another sidekick had joined the base, stealing attention. The vine didn’t leave.

Instead, it rooted itself in a corner of the base, its branches extending to cover the walls. The air was filled with the fragrance of roses, adding a touch of beauty to the place.

Luo Ning felt satisfied. This vine not only adorned the flowers but also removed thorns, thus strengthening the city walls. Of course, it would have been even better if Flower Pig didn’t foolishly provoke it every day.

Two months later, the scorching weather cooled down, and the temperature dropped sharply. Walking outside felt like a biting cold wind. In a few days, it might even snow.

The changes at the base were big. It resembled a real base now, with food and defenses. It was named the Green Boat Base.
