Chen Li stood up and patted off his pants, joy lighting up his face. The relief of narrowly escaping death made him almost giddy. He glanced at his hands. “Huh? Where did my wound go?”
Luo Ning spoke gently, “I have wood-type abilities that can heal wounds.”
Chen Li was so excited that he almost lunged forward like a husky. Just as he was about to touch Luo Ning, Mu Chengfeng swiftly pushed him away. He was displeased and said in his usual dismissive tone, “You’re so useless! If you have the strength, then let’s go.”
Chen Li didn’t mind his coldness at all. He was nearly moved to tears. He felt incredibly lucky to have met these two companions. Just the fact that they didn’t abandon him made him incredibly grateful.
With nowhere to vent his joy, he ran to the car and hugged Flower Pig, planting a big kiss on it. Flower Pig, though still young, was already showing drooping eyes. It let out a howl and disdainfully pushed its paw against Chen Li’s mouth.
As evening approached, danger was most likely to strike at night. They decided not to continue their journey and stopped at a small hotel.
After clearing out the zombies, they planned to boil water and cook.
Luo Ning took out the seeds he had found. He made mung beans into sprouts and peas into beans. He also had a bit of eggplant and cucumber, and most importantly, he had grown his favorite basketball-sized watermelon.
Wood-type abilities were truly convenient.
Luo Ning was in high spirits. He had a sumptuous dinner: steamed white rice, beans, bacon, eggplant with soy sauce, and cold cucumber salad. Just looking at it made his mouth water.
With a full belly, he even had watermelon to satisfy his craving. Luo Ning patted his little tummy, having indulged a bit too much.
Beside him, Flower Pig lay with its also round belly, paws sprawled out.
Mu Chengfeng’s expression softened a bit, but as he listened to Chen Li’s incessant chatter, his patience began to wear thin. He grabbed the silly dog by the neck and tossed it over to Chen Li, saying flatly, “You go outside and take it with you.”
Chen Li clung to the doorframe, facing Mu Chengfeng’s cold face, feeling quite pressured. He asked with difficulty, “Can I stay with you guys tonight? I’ll sleep on the floor. I’m scared to be alone.”
Mu Chengfeng narrowed his eyes and coldly spat out words, “Get lost.”
What a wishful thinking!
What an inconsiderate fool. Not only did he want to be a third wheel, but he also wanted to ruin the time between him and his baby. How could someone be so foolish? It’s an eyesore!
Chen Li was ruthlessly sent away and was left to cuddle with Flower Pig.
Once the third wheel was gone, Mu Chengfeng smiled. He pulled Luo Ning into his arms and massaged his little belly. “Baby, is there something you haven’t told me?”
He normally wouldn’t pry into Luo Ning’s secrets, but he hated that kind of unstable factor. His little lover was extraordinary, and he didn’t know if Luo Ning’s miraculous medicine would come at a price. This uncertainty made him uneasy.
He rubbed his chin on Luo Ning’s neck, their skin touching intimately. He asked softly, “Baby, do you have space abilities?”
Otherwise, how could he have produced the medicine out of thin air?
“Back then, it was you who saved me, right?”
Luo Ning turned to face him. In front of Mu Chengfeng, there was nothing to hide. He wrapped his arms around Mu Chengfeng’s waist. To avoid exposing the existence of the system, he rephrased it, “That medicine can indeed alter genetic makeup to resist the zombie virus. It was a reward I received for completing a mission. I don’t have space abilities, but I have a small place in my consciousness where I can store this medicine.”
Luo Ning’s explanation was vague, but Mu Chengfeng didn’t press further. “Baby, don’t take it out anymore.”
Having a treasure could lead to trouble. If someone found out, it could get crazy.
Luo Ning nodded. The liquid medicine had already been used up.
